  1. f***, Broxton's not available to close out the game tonight. How comes this never happens to the other team when the Sox are playing?
  2. Cubs coming back in the 8th. Dodgers relievers, besides Broxton, have good ERAs but underwhelming stuff.
  3. For those not watch, Kasper and Brenly have been giggling like little girls about the Zambrano thing and making predictions on who will do something next. Stay classy jackasses.
  4. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 28, 2009 -> 11:35 PM) He is an asshole. He acted like a huge baby in front of a million people. The Cubs should suspend him additional time for making them look like assholes as well. I'll lump Ted Lilly in there as well for leaving the dugout to tell an ump that he hasnt been concentrating when he isnt even pitching that day. It was a despicable act. Should have been a 10-15 game suspension. The worst thing is how many young Cubs fans idolize Zambrano, and they probably think it was cool.
  5. The Sox need to go all WWE-style and start playing video montages about Slayer's upcoming arrival.
  6. Brett Jackson scares me from California, as he's supposedly had a terrible season. I stand by my Mitchell prediction, especially after KW said he wants a speedy leadoff guy in this draft.
  7. QUOTE (G&T @ May 28, 2009 -> 02:45 PM) By the way, for anyone who questions Terry Boers' baseball knowledge or contacts (and there were a few in the Marquez thread), he said back in March Beckham would make it to the majors as a third baseman this season based on what he heard from his guys. IMO, the fact that the Sox had this plan in March speaks to the Sox thoughts on Fields. Terry Boers has someone very high up in the Sox organization giving him info. Two years ago, Boers was telling everyone that Thome's oblique injury was serious even though the word in the media was that it was nothing. The first swing Thome took that night, he was out for nearly a month.
  8. QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ May 28, 2009 -> 02:53 PM) I think the best bet is for Peavy to change his mind closer to the deadline, because trading for any of the other pitchers mentioned on this forum is completely unrealistic. I can't believe some people here were happy we didn't get Peavy. I'm thrilled we didn't get him. No doubt in my mind that in 3 years, we'll be better off having Poreda, Richard, and Hudson in the organization than having Peavy making near 20 million. Give me those 3 guys, and spend the 20 million on other holes.
  9. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 28, 2009 -> 04:27 PM) Linebrink settled it. Peavy is a coward. I can't believe how naive some people were about the whole thing. The only way Peavy would ever be "comfortable" in the AL is if some team picked up his option or gave him an out clause. What a p****. I hope he gets traded to the Cubs and then blows out his elbow.
  10. Beckham has a whopping 90% contact rate in the minors. Someone earlier asked how good is he, and I would say that I'll be surprised if by the time his career is done, he's not one of the best 10-15 players in Sox history (sadly, that's not saying much). It's just too bad it looks like it's going to be at 3rd base and not at SS or 2B.
  11. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ May 28, 2009 -> 04:20 AM) It was neck-high. Just a horrible pitch to swing at. It's 3-1, you HAVE to know not to swing since he was 3-1 unless it's right down the pipe. I'm more surprised he took 4 straight pitches. It's just AJP being AJP. Did anyone else notice how good Cleveland's hitting now? Mercy, we're playing better, and we're close to being in last place. Be nice to catch up to KC this weekend.
  12. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ May 28, 2009 -> 04:12 AM) Shouldn't a catcher recognize a bad pitch when he sees one? It's not like it was 2 ft off the plate. Fuentes gets a lot of hitters to chase his bad pitches due to his funky arm angle. I'm more pissed that Anderson went after such a bad pitch on the 0-0. He seems to be struggling in important situations (and he always has).
  13. AJP swung at a 3-1 count with a runner on down 2. That's perfectly acceptable. He chased a bad pitch. It's not the first time and it won't be the last. We didn't do enough to win this game, so let's be happy we won the series and enjoy tomorrow.
  14. What in the hell was Anderson swinging at? He acted like he was down 0-2 in the count. Really, really disappointing last two games for Anderson. He's not going to do himself any favors with Ozzie.
  15. AJP chases ball 4...f***!
  16. Anderson's going to pretend like he's facing the Mariners if he gets up to bat.
  17. Any chance of rain on Sunday in KC?
  18. This was definitely a game where our veteran players had decent ABs, and our young players really struggled against Weaver.
  19. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ May 28, 2009 -> 04:54 AM) I think he signed a two year deal. Dunn signed a one year deal and will be a great July trade for someone. Mackowiak turns Vlad's line out into a triple. Great game for Floyd. Dunn signed a 2 yr, 20 mil.
  20. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ May 28, 2009 -> 04:51 AM) The sad thing is, he is exactly what they need if he had any consistency at all. Honestly, what this team needs is Chone leading off and playing 3rd base (for this particular team). The big concern with Pods is he's not walking at all right now, so when his bat cools off, he's going to have to find a way to be more patient with his new approach. It's not a real big concern though, as anything he gives us is gravy.
  21. Is Abreu a FA after this season? I'd be shocked if he's not on the Sox.
  22. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ May 28, 2009 -> 04:47 AM) Has this team ever come back in a game this year? That was pathetic. I think the only game we've come back to win after trailing from the 7th inning on was game #1 vs KC.
  23. QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ May 28, 2009 -> 04:46 AM) Only a matter of time until he's down to about .260 Will someone start a thread about that saying they were wrong for saying people were wrong about Pods being wrong for the Sox?
  24. Jeez Pods, take a pitch! Terrible game for him.
  25. Gavin's been excellent in 6 of 7 innings. I'll take this performance every time out. I've been very impressed with the Sox this series. We look significantly better than we did during April and into the Toronto debacle.
