TwinkieDome hit makes it 5-4, still 2 outs.

Excellent choice by the Astros to throw Soriano the 0-2 fastball on the inner half.

The Official "Please Acquire Elijah Dukes" Thread

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 8, 2009 -> 02:39 AM) I'd do Shelby, Russell, and Fernando Hernandez, see if they bite. This sounds very gay -
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 8, 2009 -> 02:41 AM) If the Cubs don't make it to the top in two years, they better hope like hell Vitters is a monster. Soto, Theriot, and Fontenot are not going to cut it if all their other players start breaking down. Who cares, they'll just spend a fortune and get talent in the FA market. Like it or not, Cubs are going to be good for the perceivable future.

The Official "Please Acquire Elijah Dukes" Thread

If Nick Swisher and Orlando Cabrera can't survive in the Sox clubhouse, then how does anyone think Dukes could? The Sox have a very quiet persona in the clubhouse, and bringing in a trainwreck waiting to happen won't help. -
QUOTE (jphat007 @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 09:47 PM) HUSH you! JI JIM THOME!!!!!! AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!! I made a pledge after the Angels walk-off thrilling homer by Thome last year (off of Speier) that I would never doubt his clutchness. Of course, he confirmed that with game 163.

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 09:45 PM) Also, I ask that mods only change the score. The reason why I placed Official Post Game Thread Winner, was because it seems like a lot of people will only post "AWESOME - THOMEZ WUZ THE MANZ". I wanted to try something different where people actually talk about the game, both good and bad. Just an idea. I like it!

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 09:42 PM) Buehrle had an off day, his control wasn't there very much and the umps squeezed him quite a bit. He doggedly got through 5 innings and kept the Royals to 2 runs. A lot of guys haven't had their good stuff on day one of this season. How many of them only gave up 2? I'm very impressed by this Royals lineup, especially if Aviles can show anything.

It's amazing how much more work I get done by not posting in the game thread. Great to see Thome pick up from last year, and excellent work by the bullpen. It's not worth getting upset about Wise, as that experiment won't last long if he struggles like he did today. Of more concern is the irresponsible base running we saw in Spring Training that continued today. It's always great to win the first game though...well done Sox!

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 02:26 AM) UNC has the perfect combination of size, athleticism, perimeter scoring and interior scoring in the country. Their performance overall in this tournament has been one of the most impressive I can remember. They're amazingly efficient on offense. Thompson's been their weak link this tourney, but he's playing great tonight.
-
Oh, and Chris Allen sucks. He might as well transfer somewhere like Ga Southern.
-
Shaping up to be the worst tournament I can recall. Only real good game was Nova/Pitt.

Sorry, I have to do this.....credepopsitup

Khalil Greene might be the worst #4 hitter in the history of baseball.

Who was that little stud going off for the Pistons in the 4th quarter tonight!!! 26 points in the 4th quarter for Will the Thrill

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Apr 2, 2009 -> 02:36 AM) The show is the biggest cock tease in the history of television, and it's getting hard to stick by it. I'm just deep into the show(like everyone else) you just can't give up on it, but if this was like late in season 1 or something, I probably don't come back for season 2. Good to know it's not just me...the past month of episodes have been lame.

Dewayne Wise Named Full-time Starting CF/Leadoff hitter

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Mar 31, 2009 -> 01:59 AM) I have a feeling this is the kind of move that people scream about in March and call genius in August. Just kind of feels like one of those. I actually agree with this, as long as he faces RHP -

QUOTE (jphat007 @ Mar 30, 2009 -> 11:57 PM) Maybe I'm thinking of just transfers but I think that rule is set in stone and enforced by the league. Gus Gilchrist got out of his LOI he signed with Va Tech to go to Maryland (1 yr penalty I believe), but then he transferred to USF anyways. -

QUOTE (jphat007 @ Mar 30, 2009 -> 11:52 PM) We're all praying Bennett can say some magic words, but I can understand if he wants to go elsewhere. We'll release him, but I'll doubt he'll go to an ACC school and sit out 2 years (which is the rule). They never enforce that 2 year rule though. Spurlock is best friends with GT commit Brian Oliver, and Spurlock's told Hewitt he's doing his best to get there. You're right though, it would be hard for him to be eligible next season. -

QUOTE (jphat007 @ Mar 30, 2009 -> 10:45 PM) Yah. We needed the HR. He's a great X/Os coach, but that isn't enough in the ACC if you don't have the talent to go with it. It could fly in the PAC10, but I'm really worried. I heard Tristan Spurlock is pleading to get out of his LOI so he can go to Ga Tech also. -
This is sincere...I hope Owens catches on elsewhere and has a good career. He seems like a great guy.

QUOTE (jphat007 @ Mar 30, 2009 -> 10:06 PM) My team (UVA) just hired Tony Bennett Really questionable decision there...not a lot of high-level recruits will want to play in such a slow-paced system. Landesberg will likely enter the draft now. -
Dewayne Wise Named Full-time Starting CF/Leadoff hitter
fathom replied to Kalapse's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Wise looks absolutely clueless against LHP...there's no way Ozzie can put him in the lineup against southpaws. KW's neglect for making additions to help the 25 man roster this offseason is really shaping up to hurt this team. -
I just got scared that Ozzie might platoon Getz and Lillibrick at 2nd base.

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Mar 27, 2009 -> 08:23 PM) Am I being overly negative when I say that this offense looks like it may be easily shut down again this season and could have some really ugly games????? KW would have no one to blame but himself for failing to upgrade the offense.
