  1. Can we have some other person in the organization make the trades when we unload our veterans? KW has a pretty terrible history of trading veterans for prospects.
  2. Hell of a play by Rolen. That would have been a big hit for Fields. Hawk is absolutely going off on this team's execution.
  3. QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ May 17, 2009 -> 07:39 PM) I remember people were calling last year a success (although I wasn't one to think this) because we had found a young core of Quentin, Alexei, Danks, & Floyd. In hindsight, would people say that today? Yes, last year was a success. We took a team that had no business competing and beat our rivals for the AL Central crown. Last year has nothing to do with this year, which is shaping up to be a disaster in virtually every aspect. Not only are we losing, but our core group of players for the future are struggling to prove they can be counted on.
  4. Alexei just did a hell of a job moving the runner to 3rd there. Good job Alexei.
  5. QUOTE (Capn12 @ May 17, 2009 -> 07:35 PM) Enjoy watching this train wreck of a team this year gents. I went and did something I've not done since it ever became available: cancelled MLB.tv subscription. It is that painful to me, watching this team play. It sucks that it's been so non-enjoyable this year. Probably have the boringest team of any in baseball this year. At least the Padres get to see Adrian Gonzalez and the Nationals had Zimmerman's hit streak and Dunn's power.
  6. Gotta love Tigers being down 6-0 to start the game, and 9 outs later, they're up 8-6. Are we going to keep hearing "but we're only X games out of it"?
  7. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 17, 2009 -> 07:32 PM) Why is Gavin Floyd so bad? Absolutely no command of his fastball. He struggles to throw it for a strike, and when he does, he is wild in the zone. Not only that, but his inability to throw a curve ball prior to have 2 strikes has really hurt him.
  8. QUOTE (whitesoxmanager @ May 17, 2009 -> 07:31 PM) infield play today is not good. There's a reason we've only turned 20 or so double plays all year.
  9. QUOTE (Brian @ May 17, 2009 -> 07:29 PM) Guess we won't be giving extension to pitchers after 1 good year. Last year was such a fluke for Gavin. This game has been extremely disturbing, as it's not Floyd's control that is doing him in (with regards to walks). The league seems to have figured him out (as they did towards the end of last year).
  10. Hawk is now flipping out about our inability to hold on runners. After a while, someone needs to be held responsible.
  11. I really thought Bryce Harper was a 2010 prospect, but now I'm not sure. The Sox have had great relays and overall defense by our outfielders this series.
  12. Some more wonderful execution by the offense. Hawk's about as depressed as I've ever heard him.
  13. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 17, 2009 -> 06:15 PM) That's no good unless we are the worst team in baseball in the 2010 season. He's only a sophomore right now. You sure? I thought he's a junior.
  14. Getz has no power...and Hawk is still upset. Getz reminds me of Ryan Sweeney, as he'd be so much better if he was on steroids or used an aluminum bat.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 17, 2009 -> 06:13 PM) Lillibridge playing his way into the everyday line-up. Hope you like Charlotte BA. I'd love to see that, as the hysteria on here would be fun to see.
  16. Gotta love the replay of the Lillicurse play. Only reason Rolen tried to get to 2nd was Lillicurse did a terrible job at getting in position to throw the ball (common theme with Sox for a while).
  17. When you're mad about how bad this team is, just keep this in mind: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=liS3kGvQ9Bk
  18. Gavin's absolute lack of command on his fastball has made him a joke of a pitcher this year. No doubt in my mind he's given up more hits on his fastball than any pitcher in baseball this year.
  19. And that's the Gavin we've learned to hate. Grooves the first pitch fastball to a lefty.
  20. QUOTE (tommy @ May 17, 2009 -> 07:02 PM) What the heck was that Fields? Unless Rios is Joey Gathright, seemed like Fields should have had a shot at him at 3rd base. Rios got out of the box very slowly.
  21. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 17, 2009 -> 06:00 PM) He's been sinking for a while now. I think it's time we pull him out of the water before he drowns to death. Agreed, he needs to get some confidence. Going 0-4 with 2 K's at the MLB level isn't going to help him.

QUOTE (BearSox @ May 17, 2009 -> 05:25 PM) Nice, Birmingham now has officially the sickest lineup: 1. Danks, CF 2. Beckham, SS 3. Flowers, C 4. Allen, 1B 5. Viciedo, 3B 6. Gartell, RF 7. Cook, DH 8. Shelby, LF 9. Retherford, 2B That's awesome...only one non prospect in the bunch (Cook)
  23. Wow, Corky's ABs haven't even been close. Hell of an idea to play him against the toughest righty in baseball.
  24. It really is time to send down Fields.
  25. That was one of the worst ABs I've ever seen. Should have known he couldn't get the job done, as he's been allergic to hitting the ball with any authority to the right side all year.
