Why is he swinging before he gets one strike? Just chased ball 2.

Mercy, he just missed that.

The more I think about it, why would you put the worst hitter in baseball (Lillibridge) in the 2nd spot in front of your best player? Maybe the Cardinals will start batting their pitcher in the 2nd spot.

8 pitch inning...the top and bottom of our order this year have got to get it going. Good news is Lillibridge leads off next inning.

Stop swinging at the first pitch!! 3 pitches, 2 outs...which isn't surprising with that part of the lineup.

Wild pitch...very nice!

Colon has no chance against the Rangers if this umpire won't give him anything.

Rangers vs. Palehose Game Thread 5/10/08--1:05pm CSN
And after the home plate umpire blows 2 strike calls in the AB, the Sox are trailing 1-0 on a Blalock homer. That may be all Padilla needs.

7 pitch bottom of the inning for the Sox.

Rangers vs. Palehose Game Thread 5/10/08--1:05pm CSN
Lillibridge first pitch swinging. Hit it well, but he'd need an aluminum bat to hit an opposite field homer.

Didn't know that lefties are hitting almost 140 pts better against Padilla than righties. At least Betemit is in.

Rangers vs. Palehose Game Thread 5/10/08--1:05pm CSN
So yeah, there's been no homers in the first 2 games of this series. One of the oddest stats of the year with these two teams playing each other.

5/9 Games
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 10, 2009 -> 05:09 PM) Anyone up for explaining Lillibridge over Kroeger? We just calling it, "an Ozzie being Ozzie?" Trying to show the fans a return on the Javy trade.

Rangers vs. Palehose Game Thread 5/10/08--1:05pm CSN
Is Corky becoming Colon's personal catcher? His two best games on the mound have been with Corky behind the plate.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 10, 2009 -> 05:05 PM) I'm on the Alexei to CF bandwagon. Yep, it's disgusting that Alexei's not in CF today and Nix isn't at SS with Pods out. I can't believe Ozzie continues to favor playing Lillibridge over any possible alternatives.

The Lillibridge curse continues. What an awful lineup with Lillibridge and Miller facing righties. At least Betemit has been freed.

GM Ken Williams criticizes pitchers for not protecting hitters
QUOTE (kyyle23 @ May 10, 2009 -> 03:54 PM) I dont either, but I would like it to go the other way as well. Greinke WAS headhunting with Alexei the other day, after routinely hitting the Sox this year, an the guy doesnt get one word of warning. Agree 100 pct with this. I still can't get over Jenks doing that intentionally. It's awesome, and I like that he's not denying it.

BTW, Bobby Jenks is a f***ing stud though to have the balls to send a message like that in that situation.

GM Ken Williams criticizes pitchers for not protecting hitters
QUOTE (kyyle23 @ May 10, 2009 -> 01:59 PM) agreed, bobby had a little bit of double talk going on there. I still think its ridiculous that the Sox get hit so much that they have to b**** about it in the papers, yet no ump ever warned an opposing pitcher against the Sox, yet the Sox throw behind 1 batter and the ump comes flying out to warn Jenks. I don't blame the umps one bit for warning Jenks. It was obvious he was trying to send a message, and know he even admitted it. Last night, Getz got hit with a slow curve and CQ got hit in the 8th in a big situation where Millwood wasn't trying to hit him.
