  1. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Nov 16, 2008 -> 08:22 PM) Who do you guys think are serious candidates to be the next head coach? Kiffen? No, he'll be coaching in college next season.
  2. QUOTE (BearSox @ Nov 16, 2008 -> 08:21 PM) I'd move Hardy to 3rd, and trade Fields. What good would that do? Hardy would go from being an above average offensive SS to an average 3B offensively. Hardy also is prone to horrible slumps.
  3. The Bob Babich era on defense makes the Shoop offensive era look like Mike Leach at Texas Tech.
  4. QUOTE (BearSox @ Nov 16, 2008 -> 08:16 PM) I'd love to get JJ Hardy... Why? Sox are set on moving Ramirez to SS, and Hardy doesn't give you any speed.
  5. QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 16, 2008 -> 08:07 PM) That is what happens when you hit the receivers off the line and don't give the 8 yards. I really don't see how Lovie can't fire Babich tomorrow.
  6. Brilliant decision to throw a slant to your weakest, smallest receiver. Orton's not having a good game.
  7. Marty Booker has been terrible lately. Neither coordinator shows any creativity. It's beginning to look like this Bears team is lacking in too many aspects to make the playoffs this season.
  8. Babich, you are the worst defensive coordinator I've ever seen. Please do us a favor and quit.

Let's hope Link's slider is better than Day's mythical slider.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Nov 15, 2008 -> 11:17 PM) Wow that would be stupid. If he accepts, you have a one-year stopgap for Beckham to be ready. Then you move Alexei to SS or keep him at 2nd and let Beckham play SS. If he decline, you get two first round picks. What's the problem? This better not be the Sox being cheap and not wanting to spend $3 million on two more draft picks. I remember being ridiculed when I said about 8 months ago that the Sox didn't want to have to spend the money on the extra arbitration pick (straight from a BA writer). I really hope that's not accurate.

QUOTE (forrestg @ Nov 15, 2008 -> 10:53 PM) I think woods will never get 10 million he's not a starter and not a proven closer.. What is he but he has in the past shown some promise.. I think he might have to relearn some mechanics. Instead of being put right back into the fire.. I myself would rather see the sox sign big unit I think we would see a better than a 500 pitcher which would allow Poreda, richard and Nunez to mature for another year..... I disagree with a lot in this. First, it's Wood...he's only been around for a decade now. He'll easily get at least 10 million, as he proved last year he can be a good closer. Nunez is not going to be a starter, and he's really not likely to be one of our top 15 pitching prospects next season. Also, there's no way Johnson comes to the NL. If he signs for a team outside of the west coast, he'll be pitching for the Cubs (and spend 2 months on the DL likely due to his back).

That same article by Rogers mentioned that the Sox aren't guaranteed to offer arbitration to OC. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,6923159.story
  14. QUOTE (shipps @ Nov 15, 2008 -> 07:54 PM) It seems like the price for Viciedo is going way up as the interest seems to have built to almost over hype now.I see the Sox falling out of this sweepstakes. I heard yesterday that the Yankees were really interested. It would be interesting to see if they'd pay a fortune for another Cuban player after their bad experience with Contreras.
  15. QUOTE (scenario @ Nov 15, 2008 -> 07:35 PM) In regards to his much maligned defense (throwing mostly)... keep in mind that during his time up here in 2007, he was playing with an injured left shoulder. (He ran into a wall in Charlotte earlier in year chasing down a flyball.) So, what we saw throwing wise was not and should not be considered the limit of his capability. Saw him play in the minors this year, and his arm was just as bad. Jerry Owens is not a starting outfielder in the majors.
  16. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Nov 11, 2008 -> 09:16 PM) Some douche named Andy Dolan seemingly created that rumor out of thin air. He even mentions that it completely contradicts what Olney said this morning in his article. Well, that same guy said the source of his information was Peavy himself while staying at the same resort in Puerto Rico.
  17. Hopefully the Angels or Mets can sweep in and get Peavy.
  18. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 14, 2008 -> 03:05 AM) Its a scouting report from 2005. It has his ETA as 2007. I'm thinking he hasn't lived up to the report. KW has hit the jackpot on a few pitchers, he's also crapped out on several. I think expecting either of the 2 guys acquired today to be contributors in 2009 is a reach. I honestly can't believe KW said he could be a starter for the big league team this upcoming season.
  19. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Nov 13, 2008 -> 11:13 PM) Regardless, I think instead of modeling after the Braves, he's slightly adjusting his philosophy to model the Sox after Tampa Bay. Rebuild that farm system, and have young players everywhere who are good. Tampa was built around a bunch of players drafted high in the first round. KW has no prayer of adapting to this philosophy, as he'd be fired long before it would pay dividends.
  20. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Nov 14, 2008 -> 12:09 AM) As a terribly defensively overrated OF? Has that ever stopped the Sox before?
  21. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Nov 14, 2008 -> 12:07 AM) What would you be willing to give the Buccos in return for Nate? Poreda and Anderson
  22. McClouth would be a perfect fit for the Sox.

QUOTE (daa84 @ Nov 13, 2008 -> 11:51 PM) i know we already have alot invested in middle relief but i really like the idea of going after juan cruz... I bet he ends up being a closer in the AL Central. Don't forget he's a type A.
  24. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Nov 13, 2008 -> 10:45 PM) So would you have rathered kept Garland for 2008, and left Uribe to be the starting SS (and then who would have played 2B from opening day)? No, Garland was getting traded all along. It's disappointing that the person we got for him won't be around in 2009. I don't think any of this would have thought that would be the case around this team last year.
