De La Hoya vs. Pacquiao
Just got done watching every episode of 24/7 for this fight. I was very impressed with how Manny treated his entourage.

For everyone clamoring for OC to return, you fail to realize that this wasn't in the plans that KW had. Thus, who knows what other deals he wanted to make will be impossible due to the financial ramifications if OC returns. I assume that the Swisher and Javy trades weren't made with OC returns in mind.

Thanks Rock, that might be the best link in the history of this site. I recommend any basketball fan read this. It's great stuff.

BILL HALL SUCKS!

QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Dec 5, 2008 -> 09:52 PM) Jenks and a lower level prospect to the Brewers for Carlos Villanueva and Lorenzo Cain Holy hell that would be a bad trade.

Cabrera offered arbitration
I'm happy that KW offered OC arbitration, but it shows the disconnect between OC and the organization that they seem stunned he would even think about accepting it.

Stark Says Sox Signed Van Benschoten
QUOTE (DBAHO @ Dec 5, 2008 -> 06:25 PM) I'd be shocked if KW doesn't add another SP from here. This team would just be in a better position IMHO, if they let Richard be the swingman, and let Marquez and a FA/trade guy come in for those last 2 spots. If they don't work out, you can either move Richard into the rotation, or give that spot to Contreras when he is healthy. There's no doubt in my mind that Richard will be in the starting rotation. I really wish people would stop with this Marquez talk (such as Don Cooper). He needs to prove he can get AAA hitters out before getting a shot with the big league club.

Stark Says Sox Signed Van Benschoten
Disappointing that he won't try to become a hitter. Next thing you know, people will pencil him into the #5 spot.

Vazquez & Logan Dealt to Braves
QUOTE (scenario @ Dec 5, 2008 -> 04:47 PM) The rumor mill is still churning on Kelly Johnson being dangled for an outfielder. Any possibility that Atlanta becomes JD's new team next week? Why would that make any sense for the Sox? If we wanted Johnson, then acquiring all these 2nd basemen would have been pointless.

Stark Says Sox Signed Van Benschoten
QUOTE (R.J. @ Dec 5, 2008 -> 03:57 AM) Cantu's a pretty mediocre option (I like the term "not threadworthy") but if he'd come as cheap as Wilingham and Olsen, then come along. He won't...they asked for Jonathan Sanchez for him.

Stark Says Sox Signed Van Benschoten
QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Dec 5, 2008 -> 03:54 AM) This isn't threadworthy... but what does everyone think of Cantu? Terrible fielder, slower than hell, pretty good hitter....and I don't trust for one second that he's PED clean.

Stark Says Sox Signed Van Benschoten
They might try and make him a hitter.

Call Your Crazy!!
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 5, 2008 -> 02:44 AM) In his conference call today, KW said he is right at the break even point now as far as payroll is concerned. That's scary. Agreed, if he's not bluffing, we're looking at a tough 2009. I can't believe how much stock is being put in Lillibridge, Marquez, and Nix.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 5, 2008 -> 12:41 AM) Its not about hate, its about maximizing his money. Yep, KW should have just been quiet, as now OC would have a stronger case with the Player's Association if this happened.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 5, 2008 -> 01:35 AM) SP Buehrle SP Lowe SP Danks SP Floyd SP Richard (possibly Daniel Cabrera) You think KW can actually negotiate a deal with Boras? It's bound to happen sometime.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 5, 2008 -> 01:34 AM) Abreu doesn't even steal bases via speed anymore, at his point in his career it's about 90% savvy. He's an excellent base runner but he's not particularly fast. That's what I meant. Like you said, he's slow in the field, but has great instincts on the bases. However, he's the type of guy who could easily just shut it down and stop trying to be a threat on the bases as he gets older.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 5, 2008 -> 01:24 AM) I just don't see the logic in swapping out Dye and essentially replacing him with Abreu. Speed on the bases

One thing to keep in mind about Sheets: prior to the Sox trading for Garcia about 5 years ago, KW's main target was said to be Sheets.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 10:59 PM) I would say plan B is a FA bat worth about 2 years 18-22 million with an option for a 3rd. cough Abreu cough

Call Your Crazy!!
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 11:56 PM) Heres my cryptic guess: FA signing (semi large) 3 years about 35-50 million My guess on who that would be: Ben Sheets

Poreda, Brian Anderson, and Wilson Betemit for Nate McLouth.

Stoney on 670 Thursday 12/4
I know I should know better, but KW better be bluffing.

Cabrera offered arbitration
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 07:07 PM) Well, maybe not. Think about these alternatives: --Alexei in CF, Getz or Nix at 2B or --Anderson or Owens in CF, Alexei at 2B So really, its a comparison of Getz/Nix and Anderson/Owens. Which would you rather have? I personally think that Getz is going to be a solid major league 2B, but I know I am in the minority. So I'd prefer not starting Owens/Anderson. Give me Anderson over the 2b combo.

Cabrera offered arbitration
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 06:02 PM) I really hope he doesn't accept. But, if he does, I would not be opposed to Alexei moving to CF, thus (hopefully) solving that problem. That does make the team a bit stronger, unless Alexei is awful in CF. If OC accepts, you have to keep Alexei at 2B.

Just go away OC, just go away. No one in the organization wants you here.
