  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 21, 2008 -> 04:44 PM) Howell and Balfour are candidates to regress. They're not comfortable with Wheeler as their closer, and Price is moving back to the rotation. Percival has pretty much gone Todd Jones on them now. One would think that Poreda, Jenks or Thornton (maybe Dotel or Linebrink, although expensive for TB) would be their three main bullpen targets. I don't think to move a Carl Crawford they're going to settle on Lance Broadways, Adam Russells or Ehren Wassermans. Carl Crawford is ridiculously overrated by so many people. Not only that, but won't he be a FA in 2 years?
  2. Jackson would almost definitely be the main piece of the trade. I'm not a fan of his. I really don't like how most of these trades were involved with our making the 2009 team significantly weaker.
  3. I love this signing, as it's a very low risk for a potentially huge reward. It's great to see how our organization, which used to be known for having no infield prospects, now has Beckham, Viciedo, and Getz.
  4. QUOTE (rangercal @ Nov 19, 2008 -> 08:03 PM) Warrior fans are calling him Stephan Jackson with Brains I'm the biggest GT fan there is. Morrow can't create a shot for the life of him. However, he's one of the purest shooters I've ever seen. Great kid, I'm very happy for him.
  5. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Nov 18, 2008 -> 03:45 PM) Right now does Rose, Mayo or Fernandez win ROY? Anthony Morrow
  6. Traded for a good reliever in Ramon Ramirez. Thankfully, we won't see Crisp playing on the southside now. I wonder if this means Cubs will target DeJesus.
  7. Davidson/Oklahoma game was awesome. Blake had 27 pts and 21 rebs, while Curry had 44 points.
  8. So after watching nearly every game that's been on tv since the season started, Oklahoma has impressed me the most. Blake Griffin is one of the best collegiate big men this decade, as I've never seen a better rebounder during my college basketball watching lifetime (roughly 20 years now). Of course, watch Davidson beat them tonight. I was stunned at how bad UCLA looked last weekend, and the SEC is already off to a terrible start.
  9. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Nov 18, 2008 -> 10:39 PM) At this point, i see Richard and Poreda going at it for the 5th spot (much like Danks andFloyd did two years ago) with the loser and Marquez going to the bullpen Marquez will start the year in the minors as a starter, no question about it.
  10. QUOTE (scenario @ Nov 18, 2008 -> 10:55 PM) Glad to see you modified the 8 homers in 5 innings. Would have been pretty hard since he only gave up 12 homeruns all year and no more than 6 in any one month. Yeah, it must have been 8 runs in 5 innings. I was looking for the game log from his AAA season, and I couldn't find any. I'm going to try and get more details later today.
  11. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Nov 18, 2008 -> 09:22 PM) Not a very auspicious start, but I'm not giving up on the kid until i see what happens after Cooper gets to work on him. He's just not very good. My brother saw him face the Bulls twice this year, and said he was throwing 85 mph and gave up a lot of homers. I'm not giving up on him either, but it's astonishing when people say he might compete for a starting rotation spot this year.
  12. Yeah, one of the writers plays Dwight's brother Moe on the Office.
  13. URI has been playing great in this game.
  14. Anyone been watching Friday Night Lights? Coach Taylor's wife, Connie Britton, needs to be inducted into the MILF Hall of Fame.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 16, 2008 -> 08:55 PM) Good thing Rex didn't start this game. The horrible play of everyone else would be ignored and the humiliation would have been blamed on him. Great post, I was thinking the same thing.
  16. One of the worst games I've ever seen by the Bears. Not a single player has had a good game.
  17. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 16, 2008 -> 09:30 PM) If the Sox trade Dye, I would be a major proponent of signing Bobby Abreu to a 2 year deal. Abreu has a nice left handed stroke and his numbers were partially aided by the short porch in Yankee stadium, but he'll get on base a lot and still has some speed (22 stolen bases). I also recall him having a good relationship with Ozzie Guillen and Ken Williams has often been linked to him. I also have absolutely zero idea what he's looking for in terms of a contract, but I'd give him good money. He wants 3 yr, 48 mil
  18. QUOTE (sircaffey @ Nov 16, 2008 -> 08:28 PM) Like I said, I think KW is good, but it's hard for me to call him a top 3 GM without back-to-back playoff appearances (2 of 8 seasons). That, and the problems with the draft/minor league development are tough to overlook. Especially considering the payroll advantage we've had in our division for this decade.
  19. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Nov 16, 2008 -> 08:22 PM) Who do you guys think are serious candidates to be the next head coach? Kiffen? No, he'll be coaching in college next season.
  20. QUOTE (BearSox @ Nov 16, 2008 -> 08:21 PM) I'd move Hardy to 3rd, and trade Fields. What good would that do? Hardy would go from being an above average offensive SS to an average 3B offensively. Hardy also is prone to horrible slumps.
  21. The Bob Babich era on defense makes the Shoop offensive era look like Mike Leach at Texas Tech.
  22. QUOTE (BearSox @ Nov 16, 2008 -> 08:16 PM) I'd love to get JJ Hardy... Why? Sox are set on moving Ramirez to SS, and Hardy doesn't give you any speed.
  23. QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 16, 2008 -> 08:07 PM) That is what happens when you hit the receivers off the line and don't give the 8 yards. I really don't see how Lovie can't fire Babich tomorrow.
  24. Brilliant decision to throw a slant to your weakest, smallest receiver. Orton's not having a good game.
  25. Marty Booker has been terrible lately. Neither coordinator shows any creativity. It's beginning to look like this Bears team is lacking in too many aspects to make the playoffs this season.
