Laird is a very valued commodity. Why would the Rangers trade him for a pitcher like Egbert who is a non-prospect?

We all know that KW likes to go after guys numerous times when he thinks they might be available. If the Sox decided to keep Alexei at 2B, Edgar Renteria could be a possible option at SS.
