  1. Yikes, that doesn't set up well for the bottom of the inning.
  2. Feels like we're really missing out on some insurance runs. Thome has got to pull that ball on a 2-0 count.
  3. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 01:40 AM) If you said "Jim Thome is not clutch late in games" I'd actually agree with you. When you say "Jim Thome is not a clutch hitter" I greatly disagree. He really is pretty bad late in games, that I can not defend but he tends to come through big in the first 6 innnings. There's just something about Jim Thome (probably all the K's late in games) where people tend to forget all the times he comes up big in close games while a guy like Joe Crede who's "clutch" stats aren't all that impressive is considered one of the best clutch hitters in the game. (it seems like every time Joe Crede comes through with a big hit it's memorable, which leads me to believe that he's more "memorable" clutch than he is "consistently" clutch but that's a theory for another time) So really it's all about the wording. If you remember, I used to have the stats for Thome from 7th inning on in my sig. Great answer!
  4. CQ does a fantastic job of taking 3-2 offspeed pitches.
  5. Wow, what a fantastic pitch! Way to go Dotel.
  6. Please bring in Thornton to face Markakis.
  7. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 02:29 AM) He'll look good with Orlando Hudson or Brian Roberts in front of him next year. Damnit, Dotel. Alex Cintron just singled off you. Just say no to OHudson
  8. All the makings of a double by Roberts.
  9. Kalapse, I have a question for you. Is it really that wrong of me to say Thome is not clutch because he doesn't deliver late in the game? I know all the stats, etc., but I just reflect on his time here, and can only remember two winning hits late in the game.
  10. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 02:25 AM) The ironic thing is, he's pretty much incapable of driving the ball to RF with authority yet every time he finds himself in a funk he starts serving the ball the other way. The guy has a grand total of 1 opposite field HR in his career. That's such a great stat you found.
  11. Richard better not be starting this inning to face Payton.
  12. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 02:22 AM) Alexei Ramirez is just an incredible hitter, it's an absolute pleasure to watch him do his thing. I love him in the leadoff or 2nd spot.
  13. Holy cow Crede....he looks like a pitcher at the plate in this game.
  14. Great job tonight Richard! Turn this over to our pen.
  15. Nice catch by Crede. One more big out for Richard.
  16. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 02:10 AM) Russell up Pitches have been way up in the zone this inning. He needs to make a good pitch on Millar.
  17. It might be time to get Richard out of the game.
  18. Thome! That was such a quiet swing.
  19. Jermaine's getting underneath a lot of great pitches to hit.
  20. QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 12:59 AM) Good to see Clayton come back strong after the first batter. agreed, let's get some runs this inning.
  21. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 12:56 AM) Well yeah, but in terms of being just a very good all around player. As someone who isn't too familiar with good-looking prospects who are in other teams' systems, do they have any other nice pieces down there? Another guy they got in the Bedard trade, Tillman, is looking good on the mound.
  22. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 12:53 AM) Many say Wieters is similar to Mauer. I'm glad for Baltimore- like Hawk said earlier, it's a great baseball city and their fans are starving. Wieters has a lot more power. I don't see Richard getting out of this inning with the game tied.
  23. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 01:50 AM) Wieters and Jones are 2 nice pieces to rebuild off of for the O's. Thank Quentin the Cubs didn't draft Wieters.
  24. It's all about speed so far tonight. PK can't score on a 2 out double, Griffey can't catch a soft liner, and Orioles showing range in the outfield and scoring from 2nd on a single.
