QUOTE (tommy @ Jul 9, 2008 -> 12:59 AM) Two solids hits by Alexei and Orlando. That was sick by OC. -

QUOTE (daa84 @ Jul 9, 2008 -> 01:57 AM) we certainly dont have anything nearly as good as gallagher close to the majors...maybe some teams would like poreda, but hes still even 2 years away probably and teams dealing at the deadline usually want guys they can run out there next year I think Poreda and Fields could get you some big time talent. Bedard is an injury mess, I want nothing to do with him. -

QUOTE (daa84 @ Jul 9, 2008 -> 01:55 AM) anyone want to bet ozzie leaves jose out there just way way too long tonight? With the horrible shape of our bullpen, I have no problem if he does. I'll make a rare pessimistic post...the Sox will go 1-5 this week. -

QUOTE (daa84 @ Jul 9, 2008 -> 01:53 AM) we got nothing to offer that will bring anything of value in return After seeing what the Cubs gave up for Harden, maybe the trade market is better than we think. -

7 base runners, 5 men retired. This is like last season, where he was always around one base runner per out retired. -

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 9, 2008 -> 01:49 AM) Some of you blaming Jose for the mess up at first isn't quite right. Paulie made a quick step towards 1st after not getting the ground ball. Jose saw that and slowed down assuming Paul was going to cover. I thought it was Konerko's fault also. I don't think it matters tonight, Contreras has NOTHING. His forkball is atrocious. I have no faith in Contreras the rest of the season, and think we might be in the market for another starting pitcher in a few weeks. -

2-1 KC...should have escaped with no runs that inning. Hopefully we can get the Grudz replacement out. -

Tie game, and KC threatening for more. Contreras looks like horses*** now....I can't believe some people actually said he's be the one they want starting in the playoffs. -

Contreras' forkball is floating to the plate tonight. It's usually more effective when it has a quicker break. He's also dropping down a ton to righties, and his stuff is rather poor. It's going to be a long night for him. -

What the hell is that? Terrible job by PK of going after a ball he had no chance of, and Contreras didn't hustle to first base. Hopefully that doesn't hurt us. -

Nice job producing a run after the leadoff double. PK looked like he was feeling for the pitch up at the plate, but he got the job done at least. -

What a terrible AB by AJP...swinging at everything Davies throws. Davies is a terrible pitcher, but it just seems like this is a very dangerous series for the Sox. -

Radar looks fine for the start, at least. Twins just took a 2-1 lead over the Red Sox. -

How's the weather? -
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 9, 2008 -> 12:36 AM) I don't get how you can call Masset a below average reliever. Aside from a handful of below average outings, he's been pretty damn good. 1.58 WHIP and rising (maybe not a good indicator, but given his horrible performance as last season went on, it raises some alarms).
-
The righties in the bullpen is a weak spot right now, as Russell/Masset/call-up are below average relievers. Hopefully Jenks is able to go right after the ASB, as the Royals and Rangers can really put some runs up.
-
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 8, 2008 -> 11:15 PM) So Ozuna will remain on the roster for at least a bit? Or are they going to call someone else up since Jenks will be on his way to the DL? I know Loaiza was going to have some side-sessions, is he going to be the new guy up? He better not, he was hitting 76 mph on the gun with his fastball in AAA.
-
Bad news on Jenks. I wonder if there's more than what they're telling us.
-
I can't believe other teams out there, like the Dodgers, couldn't top this.
-
So I didn't know Harden has a 7 mil team option for next year. This is a fantastic deal for the Cubs then, as this isn't a rental. My brother had a chance to talk to a scout tonight, and he was shocked the A's didn't get more than this for Harden AND Gaudin. The scout thought Harden must be hurt.
-
That's an insane trade, as there's serious concerns about Harden's health.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 8, 2008 -> 09:25 PM) Ross Gload was awfully good when he played there. He's the only one I can think of that is close, but Swish is still better. Gload was all hype...he made a few very costly errors over there. Swisher made a lot of plays look easy that PK wouldn't have gotten to.
-
QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jul 8, 2008 -> 10:08 PM) Haha yea it is kind of. But you have to admit, Swish was stellar defensively at 1b, im not sure if that helped him offensively but he did pick up his game. And having Anderson out in CF was nice. THe platooning Wise/BA combo was working. Swish is decent out in CF, but his #1 possition is 1b. I just hope Pauly can turn it around and help us win games. Maybe that 20 day break is just what he needed to rejuvinate his all around game. Ozzie can still manage this team to use everyone effectively. I agree though, Swisher played amazing defense at 1B. By far, he was the best defensive first baseman I've seen on the southside. I didn't like Wise's defense, as he played far too shallow.
