8/23/08 Rays (78-49) @ White Sox (73-54) 2:55pm Fox-HD
QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Aug 23, 2008 -> 09:31 PM) 47 pitches in 2 innings isn't bad for having no hits. It's not like Kazmir was going to go past 6 innings today.

These guys have to shoot these pitches to right field. Kazmir's change-up has been up in the zone so far today.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 23, 2008 -> 08:27 PM) anybody know the last time BA got a start? Prior to the Griffey Jr. trade....what a shock

Seems like there's no reason for Thome to be playing, especially as we have another righty on the bench.

Almost seems like our hitters are being too patient against Kazmir.

Obama Names His VP
Did Biden just mispronounce Obama's name?

2008 Chicago Cubs Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 23, 2008 -> 06:36 PM) The CY is at it again. Check this man for 'roids or somethin'. I honestly believe Cubs are the best team in baseball right now, in regards to how they match up for the postseason. Dempster, Harden, and Zambrano is a great 1/2/3, and then you have Marmol throwing effectively again and Wood getting healthy. Tampa desperately needs Crawford and Longoria to get healthy for the postseason.

Name a VP and Vett
It's Biden. I've always liked him, but doesn't sound like a popular choice.

8/22 Rays vs White Sox 7:11 PM CDT - CSN
QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Aug 23, 2008 -> 04:45 AM) There ya go. And we have BOS and NYY at their place. This isn't good. I am tempted to say we're done but that's just the pessimist in me...I am SO SICK of the same old story with the Twins. It would be different if you knew they weren't going to be swept in the playoffs, but they don't even have a chance, and you know the White Sox teams would be more suited for this type of play....oh well.... P.S. 8-0 Twins If the Cubs make the World Series, I really don't know which AL team matches up the best against them. I would say it's either the White Sox or Rays. Without Manny, the Red Sox just don't "wow" me. I think they would destroy the Angels or Twins.

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Aug 23, 2008 -> 04:44 AM) I remember all my fellow sox fans talking about how it was the end of our team back in 05 when the tribe cut our once huge division lead to a half game with about 15 games left and the sox got in a late season run and swept them at their house, how likely did that seem back then???Not saying it s gonna happen like that again this year but s that s what so great about baseball, you never know!! Nice enthusiasm

The Twins have 12 games the rest of the season against teams above .500 The Sox have 19 games the rest of the season against teams above .500

QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Aug 23, 2008 -> 03:27 AM) Glenn FREAKING Perkins. Unreal. 2 hit shutout through 5. Angels are laying down. If we don't win .700 of our games during this Twinkie 14 game road trip we may be chasing 4-5 games by the end of it and playing for a wildcard we probably won't get....unreal Huge series next weekend at Boston for the White Sox.

Terrible loss....with this bullpen, you can't be playing smallball. Tomorrow's going to be tough, hopefully Ozzie is smart with his lineup.

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Aug 23, 2008 -> 03:24 AM) the rays are gonna win the WS this year,it s one of those once in a generation type teams comprised of throw aways and bums who are having a magical year, and next year they ll be as bad as they ve always been I think my grandma could manage a team with Kazmir, Shields, Garza, Price, and Jackson/Sonnanstine to a good record in the years to come.

Crap, the Angels look freaking awful. Glenn Perkins is on his way to being 9-1 in his last 12 starts.

QUOTE (daa84 @ Aug 23, 2008 -> 03:18 AM) everyone is sayign that the twins schedule is difficult with the long road trips they have...and that certainly is difficult, but our schedule is f***ing brutal too This upcoming road trip is huge.

QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Aug 23, 2008 -> 03:12 AM) I definately see Poreda getting called up this year, whether it's starting or in the pen. Bring him up, and put him in the bullpen. BTW everyone, I forgot about Carrasco. He's clearly our #3 reliever.

Twins about to be up 4-0.
-
8/22 Rays vs White Sox 7:11 PM CDT - CSN
You can't pitch Jenks in a game you're down 2. I'll say this...we have no chance to make the playoffs unless Dotel steps up his game or Linebrink returns soon.
-
8/22 Rays vs White Sox 7:11 PM CDT - CSN
HoRam has nothing on his pitches. Everything just rolls up to the plate. We went from having a stellar bullpen to having Adam Russell be the #3 guy behind Jenks and Thornton.

jphat....back in 2005 around this time, Howell was on the Royals and shut us down. I remember how frustrated we were, as we were letting this bum beat us. Now, he's one of the best relievers in baseball.
