  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 12, 2008 -> 03:45 AM) The only game I saw on TV Griffey looked almost fat. I don't know if that's the case, but it sounds like this guy is a disaster in cf. He's very heavy now...he looks more like Daryle Ward now than Ken Griffey Jr.
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 12, 2008 -> 03:39 AM) I haven't seen him play center on TV yet but I have read many comments. Is he way worse than Swish out there? If he is ... he can't be out there any more. KW and Oz can't be that dumb. I would say he's worse than Mackowiak. Mackowiak was brutal out there, but Griffey is a statue. Ramirez had to go out about 75 feet to catch a shallow fly ball to CF.
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 12, 2008 -> 03:31 AM) Somebody made a good point on here when we got Griffey saying the casual fans would be loving the move, but he knew better. Mighta been right. Is this guy's presence helping us at all? It's hurting us, no doubt
  4. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 12, 2008 -> 04:15 AM) Not a lot to like about this team right now. I'm really starting to worry. The Twins will simply not fade. Our pitching is in shambles right now (save a rare good start from a starter every now and then). We've got injuries all over the place. No legitimate replacements to step in for those injured guys. And with our crappy minor league system, there's not much KW can do in terms of bringing in reinforcements. The bigger issue is our bullpen is making it so comebacks are very difficult.
  5. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Aug 12, 2008 -> 02:57 AM) IMHO, Linebrink on the DL has probably cost this team 4-5 W's. It was insane how important he was to t his club. I'll try to put this as politically correct as I can.....Linebrink made Ozzie's decisions with the pen a lot easier. Now, he's trying hard to find a combination to get to Dotel in the 8th inning, and mixing/matching isn't his strong suit.
  6. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Aug 12, 2008 -> 02:57 AM) I hope this taught Ozzie one thing. Please pull Griffey from CF in a close game after the 6th inning. How about we just don't play him ever. This lineup has to change.
  7. Good series...we outplayed the Red Sox, no matter what the run differential says. I rarely say this, but we need to sweep the Royals. We're facing 3 mediocre righties.
  8. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 12, 2008 -> 02:48 AM) Ha, playing to see who gets bounced by the Angels/Rays? It really feels like it. I can definitely see us making the playoffs, but I feel like we'd get dominated by either of those two. I'd rather play the Rays or Angels in the playoffs than the Red Sox. Rays are facing some huge injury issues.
  9. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Aug 12, 2008 -> 02:47 AM) their fans are convinced we are going to win the division it's funny the similarities between us just shows you that both of these teams are massively flawed and not great, the division is a crapshoot at this point Just out of curiosity, why do their fans feel that way?
  10. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Aug 12, 2008 -> 02:45 AM) Kinda like how they destroyed the worst team in baseball up in Seatle. The Twins are unstopable. Yeah, or maybe it's because they're playing at home now. I just saw they're going to miss Felix Hernandez again this wknd. Go back and read all the posts from the Mariners/Twins series, and how everyone was making comments about how their luck is gone due to not being at the s***hole. Well, they're back at the s***hole with some very favorable pitching match-ups.
  11. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Aug 12, 2008 -> 02:44 AM) This forum always gives me a chuckle after a loss. We will get a big win, and there will be 4-5 posts saying good job. For a loss, there's 4000 posts calling for half the team to be DFA'd, traded, rebuilt. Good laughs. What a new and original thought.
  12. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 12, 2008 -> 02:43 AM) It's painfully obvious we need to add pitchers. Anyone who denies it is just ignoring a gaping, growing hole. The bullpen is entirely hit or miss, and we're going to have a black hole in the 5th starter spot. If KW doesn't add some depth, we go nowhere. You know what's amazing about our bullpen....outside of Jenks, not a single one of them has a good offspeed pitch.
  13. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Aug 12, 2008 -> 02:43 AM) if we can just keep pace with the twins, who have also not played all that great..., once they start playing Oakland, LAA, and Tampa on the road.. i like our chances We have some very tough road games left as well (at Boston, NYY, Minnesota)
  14. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 12, 2008 -> 03:40 AM) Okay...I am just saying, compared to Wasserman or Carrasco or someone of their ilk, he has a much better raw arsenal...it's just not polished, and he is definitely a work in progress. However, I wouldn't put him in the Jon Adkins category just yet, either. Russell seems like he could learn a splitter with his motion.
  15. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Aug 12, 2008 -> 03:40 AM) Throw to the left side of the plate. That's the only strike this god awful ump is calling. Maybe Matt Thornton can learn an offspeed pitch one of these years. He has a great fastball...but it's about time he developed another pitch.
  16. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 12, 2008 -> 03:39 AM) We seem to be settling for playing .500 for the most part. That will not get us into the playoffs. Twins are in great position to win 7 or 8 of their next 9 games.
  17. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 12, 2008 -> 02:39 AM) i'm blaming josh beckett for being real good. Yeah, he was pretty filthy tonight. I can never hate him.
  18. Way to get in position Gr. Soreness for that throw.
  19. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Aug 12, 2008 -> 03:35 AM) Oh no, most stop believing as soon as we are down 1 run. The season is over. Give it up
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 12, 2008 -> 03:35 AM) There won't be a pennant race with 15 games to go (see 2003) if we completely burn out and overexpose Thornton, Dotel and Jenks. Linebrink probably won't be coming back...and Ozzie needs to find a fourth reliever that he can count on somehow. There's no better way than now. He could be forced to use someone like Russell in Minnesota with a week to go and down by two games in the standings, it's better to establish exactly what he has right now. Russell has the third best "stuff" of anyone in the bullpen, arguably. He should/could be someone you project as that missing piece, because we're not going to get much better from someone we can sneak through waivers, unless KW is willing to take on another big contract (Dotel, Linebrink, Jenks after this season, Thornton and MacDougal) in the pen. Russell's stuff is nothing special. 94 mph fastball, extremely flat slider. I'm not blaming Ozzie for this....KW's inability to find another righty reliever is killing us.
  21. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Aug 12, 2008 -> 03:33 AM) Logic went out the window, when Ozzie decided to trot General Soreness out in CF, with a young kid with a no hitter, in the 7th inning in a 1-0 game. None of these scream 38 year old corner OF in CF. General Soreness is a great name for Griffey
  22. Gosh, this umpire f***ing sucks.
  23. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 12, 2008 -> 03:30 AM) Our relief pitching is coming through again At least we won yesterday. I'll be fine being out .5 game after the Red Sox series.
  24. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 12, 2008 -> 03:28 AM) I think Russell didn't hear me. First batter he faces in the top of the 9th sees 4 straight balls and heads to first. That's clutch relief pitching right there There's just no excuse to have a pitcher with a 5.52 ERA coming into a 1 run game in the 8th inning with 50 games left in a pennant race.
  25. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Aug 12, 2008 -> 03:29 AM) LOL. Griffey out in CF late in a game is dumb. Griffey on this team is dumb. Honestly, there's no point to him playing.
