  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 10, 2008 -> 07:50 PM) OM gosh second guessing is fun. Dye and Thome having good games and heart of the order with bags juiced and one out. It was the textbook correct call by Oz. the players were the ones who f***ed up. GO SOX! Bunting prior to the 7th inning in the AL is just ignorant, in my humble opinion.
  2. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Aug 10, 2008 -> 07:49 PM) Nobody gets more upset over Orlando's errors than Orlando himself. He's not having a very good contract year which matters the most to him. Gotta squeeze as much money as possible out of LAA for next year and beyond. I still predict he'll sign with Giants.
  3. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Aug 10, 2008 -> 07:48 PM) The guy hitting behind "our best hitter" is hitting for 14 percentage points higher and only has a few less homers. It's not like it was Uribe behind Quentin there. If they had chosen to load the bases by walking Quentin, Ill take my chances with JD everytime...he just got beat there. It happens, but the call was correct...find something else to bash Ozzie about, but this isnt one of those times. Carlos Quentin is the best hitter in baseball since the ASB.....Dye was 3-30 coming into this game. You're right though, I'll take our chances with Dye up in those situations (not sarcasm).
  4. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Aug 10, 2008 -> 07:44 PM) They never play well against the Yankees and I don't see that changing. So if we can be tied with them going into the next series, I could see us picking up a game or two. Alexei for defensive MVP. Sorry about the confusion maggs. I think they'll get Pettitte and Mussina.
  5. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Aug 10, 2008 -> 07:45 PM) Agree...but some will go to great lengths in not finding certain players culpable even if it means making up crap about Guillen. The bunt was the RIGHT CALL...at the very least we get 1 run, but Dye and Thome blew it...it happens. No, we took the bat out of the hands of our best player by bunting. You wouldn't see the Cardinals doing that in front of Pujols.
  6. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Aug 10, 2008 -> 07:44 PM) They never play well against the Yankees and I don't see that changing. So if we can be tied with them going into the next series, I could see us picking up a game or two. Alexei for defensive MVP. I thought the Yanks are great vs the Twins? Great job by Gavin!
  7. QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 10, 2008 -> 07:43 PM) We were playing for 2 runs. 2 hitters bunt, especially with 2 on and none out. That is the epitome of a bunt situation. Moving two men instead of one into scoring position for your 3, 4, and 5 hitters is absolutely the textbook thing to do. So why wasn't Pedroia bunting? Great play by Ramirez, huge batter in Ortiz here.
  8. Gavin's not very sharp so far this inning. He's hung a few pitches.
  9. QUOTE (tommy @ Aug 10, 2008 -> 07:40 PM) Who do the Twins play next? Yankees
  10. I hate you OC....this inning won't go well. Floyd's the worst in baseball at pitching over an error, and every OC error seems to lead to a huge inning.
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 10, 2008 -> 07:37 PM) Because AJ hits into DPs and the meat of the order is coming up. Guys have to produce. I feel the bunt was in order. AJP shouldn't be hitting in the 2nd spot of the order then. You can't play for one run like this against Boston when you have a terrible bullpen.
  12. Congrats Boston, here's your momentum. Good thing we gave up the first out with a bunt.
  13. Question....why are you bunting in the 4th inning to create an open base with Quentin up?
  14. Remember when Aardsma was throwing 90 mph for the White Sox? He's throwing significantly harder for Boston.
  15. Dye continues to tank in big spots, as he's trying way too hard at the plate.
  16. Huge, huge situation for the Sox here.
  17. QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 10, 2008 -> 07:12 PM) Not to make this moment awkward but........I have an erection. Thanks McLuvin
  18. QUOTE (shipps @ Aug 10, 2008 -> 07:09 PM) Hes gonna come out with lego hair. Needless to say, his first word will be "f***"
  19. QUOTE (shipps @ Aug 10, 2008 -> 07:06 PM) I have heard a couple people say that since hes been here. I've already got my wife to agree to letting us name our first boy Quentin.
  20. There we go!
  21. No matter what happens this year, the growth of CQ, Danks, and Ramirez makes this a positive year for the organization, I honestly believe. Now, we just have to sign Beckham.
  22. That a boy CQ! Get off the ledge Hawk.
  23. QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 10, 2008 -> 07:00 PM) Better read by CQ and we're ahead. He made some bad pitches, but was never hit hard enough to deserve 3 runs. I've come to have very little faith in our outfielders to ever make a nice play.
  24. Gavin's finding his release now. For as bad as he's pitched, I have to say this...Lowell's homer might be the cheapest I've seen this season.
  25. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Aug 10, 2008 -> 06:55 PM) CATCH THE f***ING BALL. 8 errors this season for him
