  1. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 09:15 PM) Are Ortiz and/or Lowell on the DL? Or sitting for a bit? Or playing hurt? They'll be in the lineup tonight.
  2. Any lineup news for tonight? Griffey Jr. better not be playing, and I wouldn't mind seeing Thome get a day off (Cox said he has a bad leg). Lester's better against lefty hitters.
  3. Dimitri Young vs 2005 White Sox = Troy Glaus vs 2008 Cubs 0-29 and counting for Glaus
  4. Ugh, I hate Jim Edmonds. I can't believe he's performing so well for the Cubs. He must have realized he lost his abilities while in San Diego and decided to go on the juice again.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 07:47 PM) I've gotten the impression the last year or two that there may be a pretty big split between KW and some of his close assistants, and some others in his employ. Do you think it could be that KW still likes his pitchers to be in the 90 mph range mode with good mechanics and control, whereas some of the newer assistants want the "sexier" prospect?

Some interesting splits on Egbert. At home (bandbox), he gives up a ton of homers but his ERA is below 4. On the road, he's given up 2 homers in 38 innings, but his ERA is brutal. What gives?

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 08:35 PM) From what I've heard, its the complete opposite. The stuff I"ve heard is that the higher ups in the org like him a lot (well at least the GM does). I'm going off of what one of KW's assistants was saying in the press box a few weeks back. Is he really 3-10 with a 4.89 ERA? I guess I don't follow win-loss records too much.

I know for a fact that the White Sox organization doesn't think Egbert's stuff is good enough for the majors. It's too bad, as I'd love to have a sinker baller as the long man. I wouldn't be surprised if he's dealt in the offseason as a throw-in.

I thought Razor Shines was fantastic last season. Cora was brutal, but Cox is making some decisions in crucial situations that have cost us games.
  10. Best defensive 1B in Sox history.
  11. Best Brian Anderson story has to be when they visited the Playboy Mansion two seasons ago, and he was flirting with Kendra (one of Hef's girlfriends). I forget who it was on the Sox, but they go to Anderson "I'm sure she'll leave Hef and the mansion to go live with you and your mom in Arizona".
  12. Is it really surprising to people that Anderson made this? He's had his own fan club on here for 4 years now. I love the fact that he's been productive this year, as I think even his biggest fans on this site wrote him out of the organization after last year. I'm shocked he wasn't a lot higher. Now, if I see the following players on this list, I might have to make some negative remarks: Jaime Navarro, Tim Belcher, Royce Clayton, Jose Paniagua, Jesus Pena, Ron Santo, Darin Erstad, Scott Ruffcorn, D'Angelo Jimenez, Jon Rauch, Billy Koch
  13. I look forward to seeing where Jose Paniagua is on this list.
  14. Longoria deserves it and will win it.

QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 03:46 AM) That's pretty much 100% unjustifiable, even if true. Completely agree with that, as I've never been a fan of defensive range stats (I don't buy that OC is a good defender). Anyways, I don't think it's a surprise that the opposition has 3 triples so far that have been hit at Griffey Jr.

There was a study done the other day that said the Sox would give up 28 more runs the rest of the way with Griffey Jr. in the outfield than if they had a league average defender.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 04:36 AM) Didn't see the game. Is Griffey looking poor in the field? Somebody alluded to it. Would have been very nice to sweep especially against Miner who ain't very good. Two out of three is fine, but the BoSox are coming to town. We better be ready to play. They are damn good as you all know. OC and AJ 0-10 tonight? Yuk. Griffey an oh-fer. Javy not so great. Time to strap 'em up. Minnesota vs. the lousy Royals while we battle the BoSox. Griffey Jr. is an absolute joke in the outfield.
  18. Why isn't DJ congratulating OC on moving the runner over? Nice 0-5 game
  19. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 03:00 AM) One thing, if the Sox scored a run or 2 or more in the 8th, no way we see Meat Wassermann in the 9th. That's nonsense, or so the Cox defenders will tell you.
  20. Please let this be the last game of Wassermann's White Sox career. We already have a righty specialist in Russell. You want to be pissed off.....Dotel is warming up.
  21. QUOTE (tommy @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 02:54 AM) Wasserman isn't as bad as his ERA suggest (watch him throw a meatball and shut me up) His command and movement absolutely sucks this year compared to last year. KW needs to find us another bullpen arm.
  22. This bullpen freaking blows. At least we let Russell face the lefty and not the righty.
  23. Why didn't the White Sox go after Chad Bradford?
  24. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 03:51 AM) Just going off the way he pitched in the 8th...and the fact that Logan has been pretty terrible recently. If Logan gives up yet another hit to a lefty, Ozzie would be getting dogged for that, too. Kalapse or others...what were Russell's splits in the minors? Seems like he doesn't have the type of pitches needed to retire lefties consistently.
  25. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 03:49 AM) Yea, I didn't quite get that. His run isn't that important if it's the 9th IMO because you still have a runner on and the tying run at the plate. But since we had another inning, his run was important because one swing of the bat in the 9th and it's tied up! Let me clarify...you only send him if you know for sure he's going to score (standing up without a throw). With one out, you absolutely can't afford to make an out at the plate. It was incredibly similar to a game at Detroit earlier in the year when CQ got thrown out at home down 2 in the 8th with 1 out.
