This reminds me of the type of injury a wrestler gets when they're too juiced up.... Eric Byrnes-OF-Diamondbacks May. 30 - 4:35 pm et Eric Byrnes said he finally underwent an MRI that showed tears in both of his hamstrings. "It’s exactly what we thought," he said. "I have tears in my left hamstring and a tear in my right one. It’s up high on the left and down low on the right. It’s not going to really change the way we treat it. We’ve been treating it exactly how we should." Byrnes is still hoping to return in a couple of weeks, but he's not going to start running at 100 percent anytime soon. Don't expect big steal numbers over the rest of the season. Source: Arizona Republic

So, is it blatantly obvious that Todd Helton was a juicer? His slugging percentage decrease is very suspicious.

QUOTE (Nokona @ May 30, 2008 -> 09:58 PM) Is there more annoying of a sound than Bob Brenly and Len Kasper over the cacophony of Wrigley Field exploding in drunken joy Yes, when you add in an obnoxious 7th inning stretch host also.

Way to swing the bat Rockies. Please, please tear your elbow Carlos Marmol.
-
Ah, the Carlos Marmol 30 inch plate. If Corpas gets that same courtesy, Derosa would have been called out prior to the homer.
-
If you give up 3 hits to Jim Edmonds, you deserve to lose.

QUOTE (Brian @ May 30, 2008 -> 09:46 PM) Just hit it in the air and watch it carry out. Too bad the Cubs have the two equalizers at the end of their bullpen who are much more likely to strike a hitter out then give up a ball in the air.
-
Cubs might be the greatest 7th inning team in the history of baseball.
-
And now the Cubs lead 10-9...unreal. They simply can't lose at home.
-
Cubs are now down 9-8, and still batting in the 7th.
-
Wrigley is such a joke when the wind is blowing out. The Cubs are within a hit of getting the tying run to home plate after being down 9-1.

Bulls do not hire Doug Collins as head coach
fathom replied to thedoctor's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Face it, we're just setting the state for Chrissy Collins to take over the Bulls. -
I totally forgot that Ben said he'd kill Widmore's daughter. My wife rarely watches Lost, but she was in tears when Desmond and Penny reunited.

I still wouldn't be shocked if Rays take Alvarez. He put on a show during the Team USA tournaments last year, and those games were played in front of a ton of Rays execs. At the time, I was told they would take him with the first pick. I know he's fallen a bit since then though.

QUOTE (danman31 @ May 30, 2008 -> 07:44 PM) Aaron Crow is doing his thing in what is probably his last start as a Mizzou Tiger. 7-0 Mizzou mid 8 right now with Crow mowing down the Rebels. Mizzou probably won't win another game this regional. 7-0 Tigers win. 2 years in a row Crow has thrown a complete game for the Friday regional game, but this time it's a shutout. 10 K, 5 BB, 3 hits. Not his best control, but he walked 2 in the last 2 innings once his pitch count got over 100. I really hope it wasn't the last outing of his career, but he's toast for the regional and I'm almost 100% sure Mizzou can't win this regional (especially considering I don't think they will win another game). I made mention in the minor league draft thread about how bad of an announcer Brian Jordan is. Crow's slider was unhittable today. If I was the Rays, I'd draft him first and go with a possible rotation of Kazmir/Shields/Price/Garza/Crow, and then use other pitchers to get position players.
-
Wait...I can't believe Lilly is struggling when the wind is blowing out.
-
I got the chance to watch Crow pitch for Mizzou today against Ole Miss on ESPNU. He was filthy! His fastball was solid, as it was in the 92 mph range the whole game. However, his slider was absolutely amazing. He's as good of a college pitcher I've seen in a long time. On the other hand, former Braves player Brian Jordan was the announcer. Holy cow, he was bad. He sounded like Cleveland from "Family Guy". I'll continue to give updates from the regionals.

What should Ozzie do with Swisher?
fathom replied to Kenny Hates Prospects's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (kwolf68 @ May 30, 2008 -> 07:38 PM) Totally agree, but Kenny won't be afraid of him. Cabrera is a temporary solution for this year. I still would like to pry Hu from the Dodgers or see if Arias in Texas has rebounded any? We have ZILCH in our minors at SS. As far as Swisher...career .246 hitters typically dont spend time in the top of the order...he's a solid 7th hitter. Hu looked AWFUL when I saw him in the Cubs series. -
DarkUFO has drilled the season finale spoilers the past two years.

Didn't watch it, but by judging from the play-by-play, looks like some more stellar defense against the Cubs and amazing situational hitting for the opposition.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 30, 2008 -> 02:36 AM) home runs and errors? Yep
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 30, 2008 -> 02:57 AM) nice game. Maybe Paulie is breaking out of it? Crede put the best swings on balls ive seen in awhile, almost hit two out. Crede was on everything yesterday, so that's encouraging to see. He could be a 30/30 player this season!
-
Just got home to watch the DVR of the game. Lots of good hits by almost everyone in the order. Great getting a win without having to use the 2 guys at the end of the pen.

QUOTE (soxfan3530 @ May 30, 2008 -> 12:28 AM) another opportunity wasted. hopefully it wont come back to get us. Runner left in scoring position every inning, I believe.

OC is 7-44 with RISP...same as Thome from the 7th inning on
