  1. QUOTE (zenryan @ May 27, 2008 -> 11:34 PM) even the Indians broadcasters are ripping Ramirez's long swing. It's working for him, who the f*** cares?
  2. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 27, 2008 -> 11:34 PM) Time to bump the infamous Buehrle thread? He's seriously been in decline since mid 2006. Who hasn't?
  3. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ May 27, 2008 -> 11:33 PM) Swisher to the rescue again. Bench this guy Ozzie. He has absolutely no power from the right hand side. If he can hit against righties, he'll be fine.
  4. QUOTE (daa84 @ May 27, 2008 -> 11:31 PM) should be a good basketball game on tonight...and cubs dodgers are on espn...with the unlistenable chris berman Wind's blowing in like 100 mph in Cubs game.
  5. Promising hit by PK....I'll hold out hope that Konerko and Swisher are coming out of their slumps.
  6. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 27, 2008 -> 11:29 PM) On the plus side, at least we know its a loss early so we can go do other stuff. Too bad tuesday nights suck for things to watch on TV. Looks like it will be National Treasure 2.
  7. QUOTE (PlunketChris @ May 27, 2008 -> 11:29 PM) It's odd that all the players we thought we could depend on going into the season, are the players having trouble.. and almost everyone else has shown up to play.. This is actually a very good post. Javy's been good though, as has Jenks.
  8. QUOTE (quickman @ May 28, 2008 -> 12:26 AM) buerhle always has at least one inning that he blows up, this year its been two innings. He just does not look good.He cannot over come mistakes. What happened to his change-up? That used to be his best pitch. He's a two pitch pitcher now with a below average fastball and below average curve/slider. Oh well, we have to win tomorrow's game.
  9. And we're down 5-0. The high priced guys have been so disappointing this season besides for Javy.
  10. I would be very surprised if Furcal isn't KW's obsession this offseason.
  11. QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ May 28, 2008 -> 12:16 AM) I still cannot believe this was the best we could do for Garland. It wasn't...but I think KW had a master plan of OC, Hunter, and Cabrera.
  12. QUOTE (daa84 @ May 28, 2008 -> 12:14 AM) so whats with vazquez and buerhle struggling with command in these first two games? There's just a strange vibe to this series. All the players just seem to be going through the motions.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 27, 2008 -> 11:10 PM) Jeff Kent and his .659 OPS this season? The rookie Luis Maza who they're playing in his place has at least been hot in the games he's played, over a 1.000 OPS in his first 17 MLB at bats. The one they're really missing is Furcal. Kent looked as good yesterday as I've seen him all season.
  14. QUOTE (daa84 @ May 28, 2008 -> 12:11 AM) gotta block that hall Cost the Sox a run.
  15. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ May 28, 2008 -> 12:09 AM) I think that shipped has sailed. From the outside looking in, it seemed like Cabrera would have been a good fit, but clearly that hasn't been the case. If things don't improve between Ozzie and OC, I can see OC being traded sooner rather than later.
  16. Dodgers brought their split-squad lineup tonight, as they're benching R. Martin and J. Kent.
  17. I guess OC said today that Ozzie doesn't have his back. This infuriated KW, as he said that Ozzie's strongest asset is he backs his players too much. Cowley made it sound like the organization has been very upset with OC's attitude all season, and things just hit the fan.
  18. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ May 27, 2008 -> 11:05 AM) ironically, hitting is down all around baseball right now, especially in the AL Central robinson cano is hitting .224 grady sizemore is hitting .254 Gary Matthews Jr is hitting .218 Vlad is hitting .262 brian roberts is hitting .258 johnny damon is hitting .265 david ortiz is hitting .247 raul ibanez is hitting .268 And quite a few of those guys have been linked to PEDs in the past.
  19. QUOTE (ptatc @ May 27, 2008 -> 04:39 PM) The problem he has is called DeQuervain's Syndrome. It's a tenosynovitis near the base of his thumb by the wrist. There is a synovial sheath which surrounds a couple of tendons and the function is to move your wrist toward the thumb side and grip with your thumb. This is why it hurts to grip the bat and swing. the tendons become inflammed andpush on the membrane which in turn produces more fluid and causes swelling in the area. this problem will not heal unless you rest it for around 8 weeks. the little rest and injections will improve the function and pain but it will be around for the rest of the season to some degree. He cannot have more than 3 injections to the area otherwise the tissues will start to degenerate. The question will be how much improvement is there with short period of rest. Bracing will not allow sufficient motion to hit properly. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's on his left thumb? Wouldn't it also bother him when catching throws at first base? Also, is this injury different than the gamekeeper's thumb that some catchers get?
  20. That was one of the three worst umpired games of the season, in terms of home plate. Not only that, the home plate umpire didn't enforce the new speed up rules.
  21. Some more local tidbits I've heard from TOC....Cully Payne, who's a DePaul verbal, made Jereme Richmond look like a saint on the court in comparison. The term "asshole" was used to describe him.
  22. Anyone see this statistical stuff on Chicago Sports? Pretty cool http://chicagosports.inside-edge.com/white...2&dt=052608
  23. Nasty....very impressive win, great job bullpen and especially Alexei!
