When is this field being announced?
-
QUOTE(Felix @ Mar 17, 2008 -> 01:22 AM) Great coverage by the selection show there, they talked about the Gophers for a whole of 2 seconds. We'll probably be able to hold off Maryland (especially since this is a home game, right?), but Syracuse will likely kick our ass in the second. Maryland's going to pound Minnesota.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 16, 2008 -> 11:04 PM) I personally hate it, it's much more fun to have the mid majors play the big boys. That's why imo you didn't have as many upsets last season in the first round. The POD system has eliminated the early upsets. -
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 16, 2008 -> 10:56 PM) How were we mistaken? KW said he was just a step below Jenks in velocity, and I think that turned out completely correct. It may have been correct because of Bobby's dropping velocity, but that doesn't mean it was incorrect. KW said he throws in the 95-96 mph range.

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Mar 16, 2008 -> 10:55 PM) http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/bracketology Lundardi got every team in the field correct in his last bracketology, just not the seedings. Pretty impressive. I wonder how much access he had to the committee though. Considering his late shift of Villanova for Illinois St., I would say that he has a ton of access. -
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 16, 2008 -> 09:48 PM) No it's not great. Dan Haren clearly sucks. How dare he give up 4 runs in a spring training game! Haren's windup and look makes him seem like a Japanese pitcher.

Bo Ryan is a great coach, and a shockingly hysterical interview whenever he's on sports radio.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 16, 2008 -> 09:40 PM) I don't know, but I have heard from someone that works in the Sox system and they were saying how freaking high everyone is on him (which is contrary to the stuff Bureau has stated, which is again why I think you ahve to take any persons opinion as just one opinion). But he definitely has an electric arm and from what I've heard he's really been developing a nasty slider (but it is an inconsistent one). I don't believe Bureau that a scout got fired for recommending Poreda. If that's true, then KW is the biggest liar in history. He sounded more excited about Poreda than anyone else yesterday, and went out of his way to bring up details about his stuff.
-
QUOTE(BaseballNick @ Mar 16, 2008 -> 09:36 PM) Poreda has been pretty good this spring. 3IP, 5Ks, 0ER yesterday. Another impressive performance, albeit in a B game. He's quickly showing that he's above that level of play. Too bad we're not likely to see him in a Sox uni for another couple of years. We'll see him sooner than most expected. KW and Hawk were gushing over him yesterday.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 16, 2008 -> 09:34 PM) You can't compare Floyd to those guys. He's spent parts of 4 seasons in the majors, and his best success was when he came up in 2004. I read a scouting report when he was drafted. He threw 95 in high school with a wicked curve. One scouting report said he was major league rotation-ready. He doesn't throw 95 anymore, and if Keith Law is to be believed, his curveball isn't so wicked anymore. Yeah, I don't get where people are saying he has a great arm.
-
I think replacing the attitude/work ethic of Pruitt and Randle will benefit the team.
-
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Mar 16, 2008 -> 09:30 PM) Wins are a team stat. Why don't you judge him on ERA, IP, WHIP, K? I will go on record that there's no way he has an ERA better than 5.00 this season. If he makes a minimum of 10 starts, and has an ERA better than 5.00, I will never post on this site again.
-
I'd rather have Masset start than Floyd.
-
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 16, 2008 -> 09:10 PM) Jesus, you all are pathetic. He's had a great spring entering this start and had a bad outing. Big freaking deal. Whaaa...whaaa.whaaaaa. Wake me up when the season starts. I honestly don't care how his spring went....if he's still throwing 90 mph with little command, he's going to get cranked in the AL.
-
Way to show up Badgers!
-
89 mph fastballs with no location = improved. It's going to be a long season with this 3-4-5 in our rotation.
-
I wish I could say that Floyd's impressing me...but he looks as mediocre as always. No zip on his pitches. And please Ozzie, Owens better not be starting for this team. In case anyone missed it, he just dropped a fly ball.
-
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Mar 16, 2008 -> 05:54 PM) That Ozzie is "likely" to be gone in a handful of years is quite the prediction considering his youth, success, and this franchise's affection for him, not to mention the fans'. When Zambrano's existing contract expires, that would be the start of Ozzie's 10th year with the team. Very few managers make it that long with one particular team.
-
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Mar 16, 2008 -> 05:17 PM) No comment on Zambrano wanting to be a White Sox? It would have been a bigger story if he hadn't just signed that extension. He probably wants to play with Ozzie, but by the time this deal's up, it's likely Ozzie won't be with the Sox anymore.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Mar 16, 2008 -> 05:00 PM) I wonder if the CBI is going to change the NIT selection process. Whereas before they had to exclude the BCS conference teams with sub-par records, now they can include those schools and usher off the non-BCS schools to the CBI and not have to worry about as much of a backlash because the teams were left out. Virginia has been extended a bid to the CBI. -
QUOTE(BearSox @ Mar 16, 2008 -> 03:50 PM) I've been watching Cabrera defensively, and I'm not too impressed. He looks slow out there and his arm seems to have the strength of a little girl. He looks so much slower than I remembered.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 16, 2008 -> 12:23 AM) It was very hard to turn back and forth between the last seconds of the UCLA game and the Tenn game. God I love college basketball. Ha, no kidding. I kept it on CBS due to the Gus factor. That Tenn/Ark game was great. -
Greatest conference tournament ever!

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 15, 2008 -> 10:32 PM) Bingo, there you have it. Although I do give Clemson credit, they are a lot better than I thought they were. I figured they just matched up well with UNC and that's why they played them well (and should have won) both meetings while beating on the rest of the league's mediocre, but they earned it today against Duke. 4 of Clemson's 5 best players have had injuries this year also. However, I can see them getting upset in the first round of the NCAAT, as they still suck at FT shooting.
