  1. Brian Anderson just hit an absolute bomb. He really needs to be starting for this team.
  2. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Mar 23, 2008 -> 09:31 PM) Last year when we started the Brewers thread, they fell apart like cheap toilet paper. Is starting another thread like it such a good idea? Yeah, why not. At least it keeps all anti-Cubs stuff in one thread. I just hope we don't get posters coming into the thread asking us why do we care.
  3. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Mar 23, 2008 -> 09:27 PM) Aside from starting pitching outside of Buehrle and Vaz, the bullpen outside of Jenks, the offense clicking, and defense, I really don't think we have much to worry about this year. There's a reason this is a 4th place team. I look forward to joining you in the Brewers thread this year.
  4. Owens with a nice triple to leadoff the game. Danks still throwing too many hittable pitches up in the zone.
  5. The chicagosports article stated Owens would bat 9th vs lefties......yuck!
  6. BTW, those refs messed up bad. With about 1 minute 45 left in the game, UCLA was called for a foul after Westbrook got stripped of the ball. However, the refs called it an offensive foul. It clearly was a loose ball foul, and it cost TAMU 2 ft shots.
  7. UCLA was hacking the crap out of TAMU that last 10 minutes. With Duke out, I want to see anyone but UCLA win.
  8. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 22, 2008 -> 09:27 PM) Beasley MAY be the best player in the country this year, but I dont believe him to be on the same level as players who are horrible mismatches offensively like Carmelo and Durant, and doesnt have the same physical presence of guys like Oden. He seems like a tweener on the college level to me. I could be wrong. His defense is disgraceful.
  9. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 21, 2008 -> 10:48 PM) Im not trying to accuse or anything here, just spit ballin, but does anyone find it strange that I-Roid is leading the league in HR so far? This is a guy who hit 11 all season last year. A Sox executive told my friend that Pudge went back to his former "trainer".
  10. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 21, 2008 -> 08:19 PM) One of the many things that bother me about Floyd is you look at him on the mound and he looks like he's about to hurl, and I don't mean pitch. I really can't believe KW didn't acquire another starting pitcher this offseason.
  11. QUOTE(joesaiditstrue @ Mar 21, 2008 -> 08:19 PM) this seems likely imo Not really, every indication is that if Owens is healthy, he's our starting CF.
  12. For us south suburban people, Brazleton on WKU is from Rich Central!
  13. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 21, 2008 -> 06:48 PM) WKU getting robbed, but this is the game of the tourney thus far. How about the Drake guy holding Slaughter's jersey prior to the charge?
  14. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Mar 19, 2008 -> 11:11 PM) If the Sox move Anderson they are completely stupid. Yep, I really want to see what he can do. Leave Owens as the pr off the bench. If he doesn't start after this ST, IMO, it will be because either Ozzie doesn't like him or he needs to have his Pierre-like leadoff hitter.
  15. I'm sure no one will mention it, but Anderson's speed and hustle kept this 8th inning going.
  16. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 19, 2008 -> 10:45 PM) Nick Masset didn't exactly dazzle today, did he? That 90 mph fastball was all over the place.
  17. What a great swing by Anderson. He needs to be our starting CF.
  18. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 19, 2008 -> 09:52 PM) How many times has McD pitched over 3 innings of relief and kept a team in the game? How many times could he do that on back to back days? Come on. We dont have ANYONE to fit the "rubber arm" role except for Masset or Maybe Broadway. With the way Ozzie manages, it doesn't seem like we've needed a long man too much.
  19. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 19, 2008 -> 09:46 PM) Who is going to handle middle relief, be the swing man and eat up all the garbage innings? Have MacDougal start the year as the garbage man.
  20. I thought I read somewhere that if no one claims him, we owe him 4.1 million no matter what.
  21. QUOTE(iamshack @ Mar 19, 2008 -> 09:38 PM) I thought it was 10 days? Secondly, the Orioles may have been trying to get us to eat $ or take back Payton in exchange. Regardless of Roberts, this may be a way to get the O's to pick up the entire contract. Irrevocable waiver is 72 hours right now.
