  1. Ugh, this outfield defense is going to raise my blood pressure. Dye's running in even deeper quick sand than he was last year.
  2. Xavier looks nervous as can be. They've missed quite a few shots by a wide margin.
  3. That a boy Pablo. BTW, that was some impressive opposite field strength by Quentin.
  4. Haha, hopefully we get some bounces like that when the season starts.
  5. Dye's looked terrible every time I've seen him bat this spring.
  6. Wow, Swisher looks terrible in CF. It's funny how everyone complains about Fields defense killing us at 3rd base while we might have the slowest RF/CF combo in the majors.
  7. Contreras seems to be throwing a different type of fork ball this year. It's more like a back door curve. I haven't seen the radar gun yet on his heater.
  8. It's too bad the Sox didn't make a multi-year off to Kerry Wood. He'd look great in the bullpen, as he's throwing 99-100 mph right now. I know he's a huge injury risk...but so is Dotel.
  9. Even though I think ARod has used PEDs, I don't believe Canseco. I feel as if Canseco has personal hatred for him, and he's taking advantage of the public believing everything he says in order to tarnish ARod. And someone please tell Canseco to stop wearing make-up. He looked terrible on tv last night.
  10. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 28, 2008 -> 09:16 PM) 80% or more? I'm thinking its more like a quarter, at most. Not even close....60 pct is the number I've always heard from scouts. It's interesting the Ordonez stuff, as Boers and Bernstein made a comment about him after he left the Sox, and KW just laughed when asked about him using PEDs.
  11. Tenn's pg play tonight was embarrassing. Of course, Chris Lofton continued his terribly disappointing senior season.
  12. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 27, 2008 -> 04:01 PM) And FWIW, Danks alone went 7 outings last year of less than 5 innings. And most of that was when Ozzie was fed up with Danks for not "competing" on the mound. The more I think about it, we really don't need both MacDougal and Wasserman on the roster. Both guys are righty specialists, in some ways. Like someone said earlier, I would have rather seen Carrasco than Masset as the long guy. People seem to forget that Masset's WHIP was in the stratosphere last season as a reliever.
  13. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 27, 2008 -> 03:00 PM) With 5 inning-Danks, Floyd, and a scary Contreras in the starting rotation, I want a guy who can give us 3-4-5 innings in the pen. I don't want to blow up all of these guys because one situational 6th inning guy pitched better in spring training and late last year. We need the guy who makes the most sense to the set up of the team. Even if it isn't Masset, we need a guy who can suck up innings in case starters falter. If Wasserman wants to be that guy, he had better stretch out that arm. How many times since Ozzie's been with the Sox has he pulled a starter before 5 innings? I would guess we can count the number on one hand.
  14. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 27, 2008 -> 02:40 PM) MacDougal hasn't given up a run in over 3 weeks. Yet some people are read to annoint Dotel as our bullpen's saviour.
  15. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 27, 2008 -> 02:35 PM) The better solution to that may have been to keep Masset and Wassermann, and send MacDougal down to AAA or trade him (if that was possible). MacDougal is throwing quite well right now. Why trade him at his lowest possible value?
  16. QUOTE(Disco72 @ Mar 27, 2008 -> 02:30 PM) If the Sox keep Wasserman (who I like, by the way), just wait until one of Count/Floyd/Danks goes 2-3 innings and/or the game goes into extras and Ozzie has to destroy one of his "one inning" guys (pretty much the rest of the pen) like he did Vizcaino in 2005. I'm sure people will find it pretty stupid that we don't have an innings eater to take those innings. I'd rather have the superior pitchers in Wasserman and MacDougal on the roster, and let some other team claim Masset. Maybe if Ozzie won't overmanage his bullpen and not be obsessed with lefty/righty situations, we won't run out of bullpen guys.
  17. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Mar 27, 2008 -> 03:33 AM) Having the highest upside/being the best LF on the roster? I am known to be a very big Anderson supporter, but I have said all along that if Carlos is healthy, he is this teams starting LF, with Swisher being the CF. If Anderson is the choice, then its Swish in LF, Anderson in CF. If it's Owens, screw Ozzie. well said
  18. QUOTE(scenario @ Mar 27, 2008 -> 02:47 AM) Do you know what strikes me as funny? A month ago nobody would have been surprised if Ozzie chose Swisher to play CF. In fact, it was pretty much a foregone conclusion. KW and Ozzie have been saying it since they acquired him. And a month ago, 99% of posters would have volunteered to drive Brian to the airport to ship his *** out of town. But Brian had a good month in spring training and all of a sudden, Swisher in CF is a horrible idea; and Brian not being handed CF is a travesty. Interesting. or maybe I saw Swisher play CF with my own eyes during spring training?
  19. No better thread than this to state this, but I really hope Ozzie knows how to use Ramirez wisely this year.
