QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 18, 2007 -> 11:20 PM) How many college coaches are better offensive play callers than Ron Turner? Where the f*** has Wolfe been all season? Why not use him out of the backfield, as a receiver, do f***ing something Ron. You are the least creative coordinator I have seen this side of Shoop. From what someone in the NIU athletic dept has told me, the Bears have been very disappointed in Wolfe's speed. I don't think he'll be with the organization next year.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Nov 18, 2007 -> 11:18 PM) Who is more pathetic our offensive line, or our secondary. The whole team minus Hester.
-
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Nov 18, 2007 -> 11:18 PM) ok, that was just pathetic... could they make it any more obvious? I noticed that too, with the WR having no idea what the play call was.

Nice play call....nothing like running against a 10 man front. Both coordinators better be fired after this season. Hopefully Lovie has the balls that Ozzie lacks.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Nov 18, 2007 -> 10:50 PM) Bears defense best make a lot of adjustments, could not have played a worse half. Also what the hell is with our special teams??? We getting good returns but Wilson with the late hit, kicking ball out of bounds, guy touching it on a punt almost costing us.... I've been so unimpressed by the new DC this season. Their schemes seem to be wrong way too often. Urlacher's also been so average this year. It's just not a very good team, with some pathetic coaching.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Nov 18, 2007 -> 10:14 PM) You mean when a person within the White Sox organization comes onto the board and talks about how the people who scouted Poreda have already been fired and that he was drafted two rounds earlier than he should have been? The funny thing is that Poreda would have been drafted by quite a few teams in the picks immediate after when the Sox went.

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 18, 2007 -> 02:15 AM) I have come to the conclusion that Calipari has ruined Rose. Sad. How's that? I was very impressed with the way Rose was being used. Two other comments: First, Michael Beasley is putting up absolutely insane statistics so far. He's close to averaging 30 and 20. Also, Ramar Smith, who shot 67 pct on FT last year, was 0-12 last night. -

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 17, 2007 -> 08:14 AM) They tried calling TO I think, refs ignored them. Those could have been the worst reffing crew I have ever seen. They once gave the ball to Hawaii after calling it out of bounds on them. There were so many nonexistant fouls in there too. And a horrible, horrible goaltending call as well. As well as the worst jump ball call in history. -

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 17, 2007 -> 08:11 AM) Fantastic last play by Hawaii, lol. Illinois wins. Way to get the ball into Nash's hands over the last 2:30 of the game. -
QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Nov 16, 2007 -> 10:04 PM) Exactly why if they move Crawford it will be for pitching and only pitching and good young grade A pitching. I think Hill is really overrated especially seeing that he will be 28 years old at the start of next year and went 11-8 in the NL Central. Marmol was great last year but fizzled in the playoffs. He was really bad the year before as a starter. He is an unknown to me for next year. I would compare Hill/Marmol to Danks/Masset based mostly on the age of the players. Hell I'd say Gio/Masset is better than Hill/Marmol. Marmol is solely a relief pitcher while all three Sox pitchers have better upside I believe then the cub pitchers. I beleive Felix Pie is the equivalent of Brian Anderson with the only difference being the cubs did not trash their player. Wow! I don't think I could disagree more with this comment. Marmol has the potential to be an all-world closer for the next decade. He reminds me so much of K-Rod.

QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Nov 16, 2007 -> 12:45 AM) Okay Kevin Ryan the lead prosecutor of the Balco case is on now. He thinks Anderson didnt testify. And there is no evidence in the charging document, there are allegations. Unlike a grand jury, the federal govt now has to prove the allegations. And I think its more of an embarassment if they never get an indictment and bring charges. You make 0 of the shots you dont take, and i think at this point the fed knew if they wait any longer Bonds is unconvictable so they are taking their shot. (edit) I dont believe Bonsd didnt use roids, I think he did. Whether he knew or not is up for speculation. I think thatmany other players used roids and its a shame that only Bonds has to be held accountable. Wont it be funny if A-rod used roids. I would say it would be naive to think he wasn't using some sort of performance-enhancer. I just hope the Sox are careful in who they sign this offseason, because we don't need any of our big acquisitions to be named in the Mitchell report.
-
I just wanted to say how thankful I am that ARod didn't sign with the Cubs this offseason. Thanks Yanks!
-
Olney's reporting that the Dodgers #1 target this offseason is Aaron Rowand. I just hope KW keeps his poise this offseason with these huge deals that will be handed out. It really is too damn bad we're not going into rebuilding mode. It would cost a fortune to get this team back into the AL Central picture.

QUOTE(BearSox @ Nov 14, 2007 -> 04:48 AM) I'm just playing scout, and from the small samples I have seen of Hill and Marshall, I would prefer Marshall. Hill's value >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Marshall's value

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 14, 2007 -> 04:32 AM) I have no problem missing out on 1 or 2 of these guys if we wind up with #3, 4, or 5. I'll more than happily take Jones or Fukudome. They might well be the better options. I absolutely HATE the idea of signing Jones to one year. If he does well, then he'll obviously sign a huge deal elsewhere after the season's over. I don't have much hope for Fukodome, especially because he's supposed to be a corner.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Nov 14, 2007 -> 04:21 AM) I think there will be a backlash if the White Sox don't pick up a big name this offseason whether its through free agency or trade. KW can talk about 2007 being a fluke, but the White Sox were also below .500 the second half of 2006 mostly because of the same problems they had in 2007. This team needs a couple of major changes or chances are its more of the same and probably even worse in 2008. I agree, there will be a lot of negativity in the media if the Sox miss out on a big acquisition this offseason. Personally, I'll have no problem if they don't blow the budget this offseason.
-
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 14, 2007 -> 04:12 AM) And, to a lesser extent since he's still younger, Ryan Sweeney. And anyway Fathom, nice job tossing the dynamite into this thread. It's just that I saw all those names in the Daily Herald article....and I'd rather have Chris Young over all those guys. Anyways, I shouldn't have brought this up, and I'd rather we just get news reports about the negotiations instead of this argument. My bad!

To be fair, it's an organizational failure with what's happened in CF, especially Brian Anderson.
-
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Nov 14, 2007 -> 04:04 AM) With what they have to pay Vazquez, that trade is going to wind up costing them over $25 million next year alone. Vazquez had a nice season, but on a team that lost 90 games so it was a waste. If he returns to his previous form, the Sox will have a guy with good "stuff" whose performance is league average or below and a CF that may or may not be as good as Young, and they will make a combined $25 million +. That kind of money saved makes you a player for Johan Santana. This was exactly my point, well done. BTW Santo=dorf, keep up the quality posts. I was lurking on another site, and your comments on Hunter and Crawford have been sensational.
-
QUOTE(AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Nov 14, 2007 -> 04:00 AM) Sounds like a message to KW and other GM's to pony up more $$$ rather then him actually signing in Texas. Don't be so sure of that....there's been buzz for a year now that Hunter would end up in Texas when he became a FA.
-
With seeing all these ridiculous contracts, can I get state that the Chris Young trade really hurt this franchise. I'll shut up now and take the criticism.
-
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Nov 14, 2007 -> 03:03 AM) Yeah it does actually. The thing is here, would the Cubs be better off is signing Fukedome instead of trading for Crawford. My thinking is, they could do both, but the Cubs would have to trade Pie instead of Soto, and then you would have an OF of Soriano, Crawford and Fukedome. And Tampa also have Dioner Navarro at C, albeit, he hasn't really produced offensively yet. Absolutely...those are 3 integral players for the Cubs, and it would be way too much to get Crawford, who will be a FA again before you know it.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Nov 13, 2007 -> 08:14 AM) Watching Gordon a few times now between the exhibitions and tonight, he's a very unique player. I can't really think of anybody that he reminds me of actually, the closest thing I can come up with is he's kind of like a cross between Dwyane Wade and Mitch Richmond with his athletic ability (Wade), 3 point shooting (Richmond), and ability to slash to the basket despite being a bit undersized for a 2 guard (both). On another note, when people look back at the 2007-2007 all NCAA freshman team, they'll just be amazed at the 1 and done talent this year: G: Derrick Rose G: Eric Gordon G: O.J. Mayo F: Michael Beasley C: Kevin Love And hell, that doesn't even include guys like Jonny Flynn, who broke Carmelo's record for points in a Syracuse debut tonight, and Kousta Koufos, and Jerryd Bayless, etc etc. As for Ohio State, they seem to have a starting 5 that can really play, but they need to figure out who will make up/be good enough to be in the rotation and make up the bench. Jamar Butler losing weight and moving back to point is going to lead to a big year for him IMO, Lighty will get his chance to show why he was a 5 star recruit, and Koufos and Hunter inside is really solid, plus I like Diebler's ability to shoot (even though he was awful tonight). We will see beyond the starters, but I'm sure Thad will find a few guys that can contribute bench minutes with all the talent he has (Lauderdale, Terwillger, Turner, Hill). Blake Griffin is the most underrated freshman in the country. He's just an amazing athlete...maybe the most impressive combination of strength/agility I've seen in the college game. -
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Nov 14, 2007 -> 01:02 AM) WTF? How is Marshall the guy to go after? The same Sean Marshall who barely holds 1.5-to-1 K/BB ratio? No -- the starter who averages about one K/IP is the guy who's overrated. Riiiight... Please send me some of that ganja you appear to be smoking. The same Sean Marshall that couldn't reach 85 mph during the 2nd half of the season? Rich Hill has a ton of trade value, but Tampa really should try to get Hill, Soto, and Marmol.
