  1. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 22, 2007 -> 04:16 AM) It's better than hearing about how worried you are that the Cubs will win something, anything. You're damn right I'm worried about them winning the World Series. They find a way to win games, and in the terrible NL, they have as good of a chance as anyone if Zambrano gets back on track. Don't worry though, there's no chance they can play your Braves in the first round.
  2. Great, now we have to hear 100 stories about how a chopper through a drawn-in infield was a work from above. I told my brother before the pitch they were leaving way too big of a hole between first and second.
  3. He just started grooving fastballs, and you could tell in the 8th he started to lose his crispness. I'll never understand why teams throw Theriot outside fastballs.
  4. The Brewers bats are picking up....it will be interesting to see them face Webb tomorrow. Ray Durham is just awful now.
  5. David Bush puts up big runs in an inning faster than anyone in baseball.
  6. Pods gets hurt again. Just put him down, and take him out of his misery.
  7. Jenks was overthrowing last night to Gathright....it happens, especially when you don't pitch for a week. No big deal though, it was exciting to watch though. How come Grudz is never such an easy out when games actually matter?
  8. I take it there's no way we luck out and they call the Cards/Cubs game?
  9. It seems like the Cubs offense plays compared to how their pitchers do. When their pitchers hold the other team down, they don't score a lot. When the pitching does score a lot, they get into a shootout.
  10. If I didn't know any better, I would think that some of the comments in the Tribune article basically made it seem like they don't think Danks was the right person to pick for the starting rotation. As much as I'm critical of his potential, there was nothing for him to prove in the minors this year.
  11. QUOTE(Wanne @ Aug 20, 2007 -> 12:57 AM) I'm just sick of every other goddamn team in the majors at some point brings some young stud into there system that people go..."wow...he's a pretty good young talent". When is the last time this team brought somebody up...anybody...pitcher, outfielder...anybody who was actually really good. Sure...I'm very happy with Fields and Danks and all...but where the hell are our Ryan Howards, Ryan Brauns...somebody that just lights it up. I honestly wish they would blow this team up...but KW won't. It would be him admitting he failed. Braun and Howard are HOF caliber players. Fields is a very talented young player.
  12. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 19, 2007 -> 11:02 PM) That's not going to happen. Paulie is 1. Assistant GM 2. Too big a fan-favorite 3. Not something that I think the Angels will want to give up Kotchman AND someone for. At this point, why? In-season, maybe, but I doubt they do in the offseason. After the Angels lose in the first round of the playoffs due to no offense, they'll be looking to acquire a big bat again.
  13. Or find a LF, pencil in Crede at 3b, and let Fields get a ton of at-bats against LHP, play twice a week at 3rd base, etc. Even if it's a LF who excels vs RHP, but struggles vs LHP, that's fine. Get Fields some experience in LF as well then. I'd definitely like to see more creativity by Ozzie/KW, especially when it comes to facing lefties.
  14. I don't want him on the team....he'd have no purpose and Ozzie would just use him incorrectly.
  15. QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 19, 2007 -> 09:22 PM) If Floyd starting sometime soon? Thought this would be a good chance to bring him in. He is our long reliever. He went last night.....probably too much for her to pitch on consecutive days. Please Hawk, don't start b****ing about a correctly called pitch.
  16. QUOTE(The Critic @ Aug 19, 2007 -> 09:17 PM) Wednesday is my last scheduled Sox game this year, and I get to see Jose Contreras pitch.....and likely half the bullpen, too. OH, GOODIE. I'm going to a game with in-laws I don't like on Friday with Garland on the mound surrounded by thousands of Red Sox fans.....I can't wait.
  17. #20 scares me so much. I heard bad reports on his performance for Team USA.
  18. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Aug 19, 2007 -> 09:15 PM) Can Vidro still play second? Isn't he a free agent? His power has dipped but he still gets on base at a good rate and doesn't strikeout much which would please Guillen. His defense makes Iguchi look like Roberto Alomar.
  19. QUOTE(BearSox @ Aug 19, 2007 -> 09:14 PM) I don't think Garland cares anymore. Can't really blame him either. He could pitch a great game and still get the L since this team is terrible. It wouldn't shock me if he's not giving it 100 pct in an effort to save his shoulder. However, he's costing himself an absolute fortune with each s***ty start he has.
  20. Josh Fields is the least of our problems for contending. There's about 20 other spots on the team, and many jobs in the front office, that need to improve upon to have any chance. This team is so far away from competing.
  21. We ALWAYS embarass ourselves on Sunday's in Seattle.
  22. QUOTE(BearSox @ Aug 19, 2007 -> 09:09 PM) Toby Hall this season for the White Sox has a CERA of 6.61 and rising. For comparison's sake, Gustavo Molina's CERA this season was 4.26 and Pierzynski's CERA is 4.49. Also, Toby Hall's career CERA is in the 5's. I bring this up because Toby Hall has been just calling terrible games and I don't think he has much, if any, chemistry with any of the pitchers. I could see Donny Lucy being a september call up and possibly replace Hall next season. I can't believe we didn't DL Hall in July and let him get the surgery. Good point about the chemistry though....it seems odd. This is embarassing right now....someone has to lose their job.
  23. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 19, 2007 -> 09:07 PM) We should draft our own Ellsbury -- problem solved. Don't have to worry about trading for anyone. We can then draft our own Clay Buchholz while we're at it. Imagine that for a second; drafting players comparable those two with our first two selections. Seems almost impossible to expect, I know. But...but...but....we don't draft high enough to get possible superstars. Any bulls*** excuse like that is null and void after we were as cheap as possible this draft.
  24. Congrats to the Brewers and Capuano for losing 16 straight games in which he started.
