QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 05:37 AM) KU plays great defense and dominates the glass, plus showed they can win without shooting well today in a tough enviornment against a really good team, I must say I'm impressed. There are two problems for KU though, they have no depth and had 6 assists and 22 turnovers today, that won't get it done long term. Also, Texas appears to have a team good enough to overcome the horrible in game coach that is Rick Barnes, and Arizona is very underrated. I don't think Arizona's very good....they just played a great game today. It's a two man team. Bayless might have had the single best individual game of the season today, when you take into consideration the defense they were facing. So far, the top 5 freshman in the country are Gordon, Love, Beasley, Rose, and Bayless.

Miscellaneous "MLB" Trade Notes
QUOTE(Chombi @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 05:18 AM) Yea. I saw they wanted a young "big bat". Wasn't sure if Fields qualified or how close he was to qualifying. If he is a "B" prospect and they wanted an A, I didnt see how a similar deal we were lookin at for Miggy, Crawford or even Bay couldnt be struck with them including more offense. I wouldnt want to deal Gio or DLS there because with the limited amount of action I have seen with Lincecum, I am not sure I'd deal multiple prospects (one being a top pitcher) for what is essentially a young pitching prospect with some seasoning if you will. Anyways, just curious as to if anyone had a similar thought. Thanks. Oh dear...Lincecum has just about the best stuff I've seen from a young pitcher in years. I'd take him over Felix Hernandez.

Miscellaneous "MLB" Trade Notes
QUOTE(Chombi @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 05:08 AM) Yea between a guy like LaPorta who I'd like to keep our eye on or something else caught my eye on FoxSports.com 's rumor mill. They still are talking about the Giants being open to dealing an arm. We have spent the whole offseason discussing what bat to get. Which I support, but why not take a stab at Lincecum or Cain. I'd imagine it'd be a big package necessary but perhaps a move of Fields, Sweeney and idk what else. They claim to want a big young bat (is Josh big enough? Close but we'd need more)...Enter Sweeney and perhaps Egbert/Mac. Seems like a lot but if they are definately trying to move them under the radar, why not? No, they want young superstar prospects like Kemp or a superstar like Cabrera. It would make no sense for them to trade Cain or Lincecum for anyone in our system.

QUOTE(GreenSox @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 04:44 AM) You don't give talent like Russell or Phillips for a platooner. Is this supposed to be in green?

Sox looking at Fukudome, Bay, not Rowand
Lots of rumblings that Cubs might sign Fukudome in next few days.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 01:44 AM) Come on, the offensive line is by far the Bears biggest need. QB doesn't even rank on the list. Rex is the QB. Peterson showed exactly why he is an outstanding 3rd down back and nothing more. Benson with a good line is fully capable of being a solid back. The injury is the only issue and I still wouldn't draft a RB till the 2nd round. I'd probably take Oline, RB, oline in the first 3rd's. The tackle going in the first round and the guard in the 3rd round. Behind Oline, the next biggest need are the DT's and the safeties. I happen to think the Bears will hope Harris/Dvoraceck come back healthy (and than sign a veteran run stuffer to come in, kind of like what Ian Scott was for them in the previous seasons). Hell, WR is a far more pressing need than anything else. I hope they resign Berrian, keep Moose, work on getting Hester more involved and sign vet that has good hands (you can always find solid vet WR's that get cut somewhere and still have something left). I'd like to draft a WR, but I just think the other things are more pressing (unless the Bears opt to sign a vet RB, but that could be expensive) in which case I have no problem taking a WR in rd 2. I thought that's exactly what I had written. We're probably the two biggest Rex fans on this site....but I'm sure people will blame him for this. I hope they enjoy Kyle Orton.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 01:15 AM) Peterson was admirable and I really do think he's proven that he's an awesome 3rd down back. But he isn't a starter. I continue to say no one can run behind that oline (and I'm really bummed Ced was hurt because given a good oline I think he can be a very productive runner when teamed with Peterson). I can't even get into the play calling, the Bears had countless chances to put the game away and Turner acted as if the game was over. As much as I like how Peterson played in the first half, he absolutely sucked in the 2nd half. There were 3 big plays where he couldn't break a single tackle. Most people will complain that the Bears biggest need is at QB, but I think RB is a much bigger issue (along with all the other glaring issues).

Trades Won't Do
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 01:06 AM) I think Cabrera is out of reach. But if we can put together a package that will bring Jason Bay over I would be a big supporter. Ideally I would love to trade for Bay, dumb Crede/Uribe, and than sign Andruw Jones and Alexi Ramirez. Worse case, Ramirez is a super sub and Richar starts at 2nd or best case he can be a top of the order guy for us and a very solid player. The only problem with this scenario would be the question of who would be at the top of the order with cabrera... but the middle of our order would be very imposing with Thome, Konerko, Bay, Jones, and Dye. Than, hopefully Fields takes the next step and also becomes a very dangerous hitter. Jason Bay looked just awful last season, and the Pirates are asking for a ton for him.

Another problem is we tried to add young arms to the organization with some moves last year, but almost all of the arms we acquired were really disappointing last year.

Great idea....throw a jump ball towards Hester. G-reg wasn't even in at the end. This coaching staff needs to leave.

Haha, the Bears receivers are f***ing pathetic.

Peterson really would have scored on that play. R. Davis needs to catch that ball.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 12:17 AM) Cause he dropped a pass? The Bears has multiple chances to ice it after the Hester dropped, and they sat on it and played prevent defense. This whole coaching staff is terrible. That was such a huge play though in this game.

Ugh, Peterson's been pathetic this half in terms of breaking tackles.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 12:12 AM) This loss goes completely on the shoulders of the coaching staff. You win the turnover battle what, 4-0, 5-0, get great field position all day long, score on your opening drive and STILL can't win? What an embarrassment. After tonight, play for the draft pick. We f***ing suck. And Devin Hester

Well, you have to let them score now.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 12:07 AM) The play-calling was f***ing stupid. You don't need great blocking to get four yards on two downs. And f***ing Babich has been playing prevent the whole second half. Can we fire EVERYONE on the coaching staff after this miserable performance? It's amazing how awful the coaching staffs are for the three Chicago teams I like.

Nice prevent defense the Bears are playing.

What a terrible play call on that 3rd down.

Run the ball more....get that clock running. The wind is incredibly strong at the stadium right now.

Anyone else get the feeling we'll see "Bad Rex" this half?

I can't stand when teams spike a ball with 30 seconds left. It's such a waste, as you'll only take off about 6 seconds if you do a normal play call. I understand doing it if there's no timeouts left though, but the Bears still had one.

Stupid, stupid play by Hester there.

Hunter Hillenmeyer is playing a pathetic game. Great catch by Berrian there. I didn't mention this earlier, but I loved the way Peterson picked up a 1st down on the first drive on that toss left. There's no way Benson would have juked a guy.

QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Dec 2, 2007 -> 10:07 PM) They are blitzing Grossman almost every play. I'm telling you, that Hester play took the wind out of the team. Bad luck there with that ball just missing R.W.
