  1. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 26, 2007 -> 10:12 PM) yes, and hes been much better than expected. Do YOU watch the games at all? He was much better when he first started this year, even though people kept saying he was fielding badly. He's struggled over the last month defensively, but he's not a butcher, like Ryan Bruan, like people believe he is.
  2. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Aug 26, 2007 -> 10:12 PM) The Brewers look almost as lifeless as the White Sox. Next stop, getting swept by the Cubs. I'm calling it right now. It will be the spring board the Cubs need to win the central before losing in the first round of the playoffs. Just have to hope Cubs face the Mets in the first round...the rest of the teams in the NL have too many pitching injuries right now.
  3. Brewers just got swept. I like how he let D. Miller hit against the righty in the 9th inning leading off the inning. I bet they're sure happy they gave up the farm to get Linebrink.
  4. Brewers are now losing, as Linebrink just gave up another run. Hart couldn't see a fly ball, and then made a horrific throw home. Yost is the worst manager I've seen in baseball this year....even worse than Ozzie!
  5. Brewers just blew another significant lead. David Bush allows so many runs late in games, yet Ned Yost always leaves him in way too long.
  6. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 26, 2007 -> 09:01 PM) Well that was a successful series. It's one thing to lose....it's another to look like you don't belong on the field.
  7. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 26, 2007 -> 08:42 PM) Most AAA teams look like they're trying a lot harder than this. I'm so sick of hearing how this team won't quit.

    Richar

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 26, 2007 -> 12:26 PM) Richar has an OBP of .300 right now. His batting average is .200. Obviously, both of these should go up a bit, but I don't know how his working a count makes him a lock to be an exceptional hitter. Mark Johnson used to work a count pretty well and they really should have DH'd for him and let the pitcher hit. Richar has made some nice plays defensively, but as the scouting reports suggest, has flubbed some easier ones. He is 1 for 3 in steal attempts. I still don't know what to make of him. He may be good, he may be DeAngelo Jimenez. If he's already earned a starting job on the 2008 White Sox based on his little trial run so far, this team will not be a championship contender. His OBP is .010 higher than Brian Anderson's last season, and we have people penciling him in to lead off. That's a little too optimistic at this point IMO. Thank you....this might be the best post I've seen all season when it comes to evaluating a player.
  9. This is just embarassing. We have a legit shot at the worst record in baseball.
  10. The horrible double play throw by Gonzalez costs the Sox two runs.
  11. Fields is a lot slower getting down the base paths than I thought he'd be. He had a horrible jump on the pop fly caught by Uribe in the first inning.
  12. Fields in LF almost guarantees no Owens in CF next year. I like this move....well done Sox.
  13. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 26, 2007 -> 03:32 PM) What the hell is this bulls***? Gonzalez at third? Have we sunk this low, that a scrub who should be in AA will be playing third base for us so that we might get a look at him for next year? For what? Who else would we have play 3b? This is the smartest move they've done all year, as having Fields in LF is the best move they can make.
  14. - Scott Rolen's defense right now.....not so good - I have no idea how Arizona has a good record. Their lineup looks worse than the White Sox's lineup. I pray that the Cubs don't face them in the first round of the playoffs.
  15. Another amazing start by a Brewers pitcher....that team might not win 75 games.
  16. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 25, 2007 -> 10:51 PM) This is a classic. I just wish there would have been a "Singleton's next murder will be his first".
  17. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Aug 25, 2007 -> 10:32 PM) Here's only 12 years younger than than 50 year old young stud Jose Conterares who we have for two more years! Contreras is on my good side right now, as at least he came over to Buckvich and tried to cheer him up today.
  18. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 25, 2007 -> 10:30 PM) I agree with this completely. This off-season is make or break for Williams. He needs to have a dynamite off-season, and he knows it. I just am not ready to completely clean house after 1 terrible year, I just can't justiy that. The problem seems to be that the big four (KW, Ozzie, Walker, and Cooper) are a package deal. I'll be thrilled if KW can put together a good offseason, even if it doesn't translate well next year. I thought all along his offseason prior to this year sucked big time, so it will be fun to see what trade chips he even has now.
  19. Can Scott Linebrink please blow out his elbow before we severely overpay for him.
  20. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 25, 2007 -> 10:14 PM) ? I just don't see how people can pencil him into next year's lineup as a leadoff hitter and a .380 OBP like everyone seems to think. Right now, he seems to chop a lot of grounders to the 2nd baseman or fly out to LF. The homers are nice, but it would be nice to see one of our fast hitters actually hit gappers once in a while. I'm not writing off Richar, I just can't picture the team being any good if he's in the 1/2 slots in the order. If we upgrade all over the field besides 2b, then he'd be a fine 9 hitter.
  21. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 25, 2007 -> 10:23 PM) So then why did Buehrle and Dye re-sign, for arguably below market value. Both have said a large reason they re-up'd was based on what Williams told them about next year's plan. I could see Williams and Ozzie blowing smoke up the fans ass, but not Mark and JD. Oh, they'll "try" to sign guys. KW told a player on the Sox after the season ended last year that Juan Pierre would be their leadoff hitter, and Scotty Pods wouldn't be back with the team. Do you actually think they'll get into bidding wars for Hunter in the 5 year, 65 million range?
  22. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Aug 25, 2007 -> 10:22 PM) Watching McDougal implode--again... this is like watching The Bad News Bears. Or "Major League." We're so bad that Boston must be BORED at this point, because we give them zero competition. We're like the team that always "plays" the Globetrotters. Red Sox fans must be stunned they actually lost in three games in 2005 against a similar core group of players. I know watching these last few games, I am. This is like Major League players against A ball players.
  23. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 25, 2007 -> 10:17 PM) When Hawk who obviously has some inside, is trying to sell the public on stiffs like Gonzalez and Owens, you can only cringe. A back-up outfielder should be the easiest position in the majors to fill, especially with guys in the minors. Having to play Gonzalez the last few days in LF against a righty makes me cry.
