Andruw Jones is going to get a lot more money than people think.
-
I wish our players had half the intensity that Hunter plays with.
-
It's like they just go after everyone who's available. I think Trachsel sucks, so I hope he starts for them some games. I don't see why they need him.
-
Just get rid of KW and Ozzie before they do more damage to this organization's future.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 31, 2007 -> 01:04 PM) Padres. Teams with former Cub players usually do well pretty well in these situations. And the first guy to pop out at me was Greg Maddux. I dare a team to pitch to Geoff Blum in the 14th inning in the playoffs. Let's just hope Chris Young can get healthy.

While I agree Ozzie is on the verge of saying something that gets him fired, Mariotti picking on him for using "killing" is just so nit-picky.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Aug 31, 2007 -> 07:37 AM) Meatball or not, what the f*** is Mench swinging at the first pitch for when Dempster has walked 2 and hit a batter, including the batter right in front of him? I mean, fuuuuuuuuu*** Mench is one of the least patient hitters in all of baseball.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 31, 2007 -> 06:01 AM) We're too proud for that. Williams is honestly setting himself up to be on the hot seat. What excuse is there next season when he's aggressive, perhaps making a few trades involving what's left of our minor leauge system, and the team still finishes fourth/fifth in the division? He'll have to do quite a lot to turn this team into a playoff contender. I just don't believe it's possible. Let's hope he's not as scared to have a high pick in the draft as some of the people on this site seem to be. It's far and away the most exciting aspect of our season right now, and I'd guess you'd agree with that 100 pct. -
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 31, 2007 -> 05:53 AM) I agree. Ozzie knows exactly what he is doing to. I really am starting to buy him really wanting to just to get the hell out of here. He knows this season has been a disaster, and is once again smart enough to know it's going to stay like this for a few years, he mine as well leave now. The whole thing has just become embarrassing, for all parties involved, and there is no light at the end of the tunnel. It's going to be friggin' bloodbath at SoxFest... I haven't listened to sports radio in a long time, but where was the media blasting Ozzie for these comments? I didn't even know that the Chicago media knew the Sox existed anymore. I thought they're too busy planning their World Series trips to Boston. If Ozzie does want to leave, he should be the bigger person and just resign. No reason to embarass himself or the franchise, like you said.

Just blow the whole freaking thing up. -
http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...-home-headlines Another article with similar quotes. However, for Ozzie to reference United States media people to kiss his ass.....that's just ignorant. I had been proud of Ozzie the last few months for how he handled himself in the media, but ever since the Red Sox debacle over the wknd, he's been acting like a baby.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 31, 2007 -> 04:47 AM) Chris Rix and Reggie Ball say hi, but I think Meyer might be in 3rd place in that category. Reggie Ball is the worst 4-year quarterback in the history of football. He had arguably the greatest WR in college history, and couldn't achieve anything. Not only that, he was just a massive cancer off the field. -
Just watched the game highlights on Comcast, and I had no idea that Hart had botched that liner in the 2nd inning to lead to the huge inning. Two other comments are that the 2 strike pitch to Hart in the 7th inning wasn't even close to being a strike, and the pitch Mench grounded out on to end the game was a massive meatball. The Brewers and Cardinals have good pitching matchups this wknd, hopefully they can both sweep.

http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...-home-headlines Ozzie just needs to STFU. Worry about the Sox and their effort on the field. Also, I don't like the comments further down the page by Ozzie about how we might not have too much money to spend. Edit: the headline was confusing, and I didn't realize it was Ozzie they stated about the money, and not KW. For some reason, I'm thinking we'll be trading for Tejada sooner rather than later.

Never in a million years would I have thought this debacle was possible only 22 months ago.
-
Someone might want to tell Braun to shorten his swing. All the early success has probably made him feel invincible, and he just needs to relax at the plate a little more.
-
Like I said, Ned Yost is the worst manager in baseball. The bunt by Hardy was beyond stupid, as it basically guaranteed Fielder wouldn't bat. Then, letting Mench face Dempster instead of bringing in Jenkins was a horrible decision. Yost better get fired after this year.
-
Just awesome hustle by these guys.....I wonder if Ozzie will just quit (and I don't mean that as a shot at him).
-
I wonder just how bad the ratings for this series have been?
-
After further review, the Cubs got a huge break (shocking, I know) on that last pitch to Hart.
-
Was that called strike way outside to Hart like it looked when I flipped to it?
-
BTW, a bench of Ward, Monroe, Fontenot, Blanco, and Pie is very good. Good speed, power, and lefty/righty capability.
-
Of course Lilly pitches on a night the wind's blowing in. There's no bigger loser in the majors this year than Capuano. Is it me, or is the Cubs bench phenomenal now?

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 11:42 PM) You know what I find interesting? I haven't heard nearly the number of complaints about Shines this season that I heard about Cora @ 3rd the last 2. That to me says somethjing about his in-game performance, I think I think a ton of that has to do with our lack of base runners this year. I made a remark last night about how I can't remember one time this year where we had a runner score from first on a double. However, Joey Cora was horrible last year, so Shines has been an improvement.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 10:36 PM) Poplar's a great guy. I think he's overly generous in his assessments sometimes but he's very smart and clever and has good info. Him and I disagreed earlier on some things, but I really appreciate the insight and information he brings to this board. Sometimes I wonder if he has a lot more connections to the organization than we really know about (which is cool if true, and I respect if he wants to keep that quiet).
