  1. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Apr 22, 2008 -> 08:41 PM) BTW, Pujols is playing 2nd.... Wow, that's awesome. Do the Brewers have the first bullpen where every guy has been busted for steroids? Gagne/Mota/Turnbow....but I'm sure Torres is clean
  2. My last prediction is 56-44. My father took care of someone from the Obama camp last night in the ER, and they were pessimistic about the next few days.
  3. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Apr 22, 2008 -> 08:28 PM) In case anyone was curious, Gagne is still horrible. He just blew another save I still can't decide which team to root for when they play each other. The Brewers still have a lot of the bad mojo they had the 2nd half last year (costly errors, bad managerial decisions, etc).
  4. This reminds me of the M. Jeff A-L S
  5. Wait, did the Mets make more defensive blunders today?
  6. This Mets lineup is hideous. Half of them should be out of baseball.
  7. QUOTE (Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Apr 22, 2008 -> 02:35 AM) Is it possible that the Cubs are a better team without Soriano? For now, yes. But once it gets hot out, they're better with him. How come no one can play defense against the Cubs? Every game, it seems like there are 3-4 terrible defensive plays.
  8. One thing I've noticed the past year is that Marmol sure seems to get a lot of calls from the ump. With his stuff, it makes him near impossible to hit in a lot of his outings.
  9. I thought Beltran had been a disappointment in NY, but his numbers were much better than I thought.
  10. QUOTE (Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Apr 22, 2008 -> 01:15 AM) To rag on the Mets some more, how unimpressive is their offense aside from Wright and Reyes. Beltran has never proven worthy of his money. I am sure the Mets can not wait til Delgado's contract expires and they can get an offensive 1B. After that, they count on Alou to be healthy (ha, ha). The Mets have a long way to go before they are in the Yankee/Red Sox category of juggernaut. Yeah, it really makes you wonder what they did this offseason outside of Santana. And I'm thankful the Sox didn't sign Luis Castillo. Talk about someone who's lost 2 steps.
  11. QUOTE (Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Apr 22, 2008 -> 12:56 AM) Of course, the Cubs would miss Johan Santana. ... On another note, Carlos Delgado is pretty much a waste of space. Mets have been good against lefty pitchers, so there's hope tomorrow. Zambrano's dominating tonight so far, as the Cubs are firing on all cylinders. I didn't know until today that the 3 interleague teams they face outside of the Sox are Toronto/Tampa/Baltimore.
  12. QUOTE (zenryan @ Apr 20, 2008 -> 08:51 PM) the guy hit .277 and led the team in HRs and RBIs last year. He was struggling at the plate and wanted to save money. Nothing more than that. It's not like the Jays are replacing him with a better hitter. Matt Stairs sucks. Stairs had a better OPS than Frank last season, and he allows them the chance to break up all the righties at the top of their order.
  13. QUOTE (CWSGuy406 @ Apr 20, 2008 -> 09:24 PM) Pie sucks based on what -- his 204 major league at-bats? And for a lefty-masher, Johnson's career .830 OPS versus lefties isn't very 'mashy'. Talk to me in a couple of months... you know, not 55 at-bats into the season, mmkay? Answer me this....wouldn't you have liked to see Reed Johnson as our righty back-up outfielder the last few years instead of Ozuna and his butcher outfield defense?
  14. QUOTE (CWSGuy406 @ Apr 20, 2008 -> 08:17 PM) LOL at "Reed Johnson" and "superb" being in the same sentence. Then again, it's easy to make that statement when the guy is hitting .375. Let's see... below average hitter? Check. Stretched defensively in CF? Check. Useless against righties? Check. Blocking the Cubs' best prospect? Check. If anything, you should be happy that Johnson has come out flying out of the gates -- that means Lou will probably stick with him longer than he should. At this point in his career, Johnson is a dime-a-dozen ballplayer -- most definitely not someone you'd characterize as a "superb pick-up." Considering they were desperate for a righty platoon hitter, he was a much better acquisition than having to trade Murton and Ceda for Marlon Byrd. Johnson is a career .307 hitter against LHP. I wish he wasn't blocking the Cubs "best prosect", as Pie absolutely sucks.
  15. Excellent win, but looks like Thome was limping after the game. Hopefully it's nothing.
  16. QUOTE (Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Apr 20, 2008 -> 08:11 PM) Gagne just needs to be released. He is not good and will never be good again. This is at least the 2nd game he has cost them in less than a month. Release him now! 3rd blown save. I fault Yost on this though, as this is the 4th straight game he's pitched in. On a team with 14 pitchers on the roster, you just can't put him in that situation.
  17. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Apr 20, 2008 -> 09:07 PM) Can Frank Thomas still play 1B? Discuss among yourselves. Or maybe Frank-Konerko and Thome can rotate? Nope
  18. Ugh, Eric Gagne sucks! He just allowed back-to-back homers, including one to Paul Bako!
  19. QUOTE (G&T @ Apr 20, 2008 -> 08:04 PM) Thome with a double to right. 4 hits today. Thome's definitely been the offensive MVP this week.
  20. QUOTE (max power @ Apr 20, 2008 -> 07:56 PM) A lot can happen in 5 years. I wouldn't count it out entirely. s***, borass could die. It's funny, but I was thinking the same.
  21. QUOTE (Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Apr 20, 2008 -> 07:51 PM) When Danks is a FA, Borass is going to make him a ton of money if he keeps pitching this way. That's fine, that means we'll get some big years from him over the next 5 years.
  22. Danks resembles Johan Santana today with the way Tampa is swinging and missing so much at his pitches.
  23. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 20, 2008 -> 08:41 PM) Fathom is like two different posters when talking about the Cubs and Sox. The Sox could be 55-25 and he'll find a negative somewhere. With the Cubs, it's all sunshine. Anyway, we all knew the Cubs were better than the Reds and Pirates. Big deal. They've got the Mets and Rockies coming up. I believe they play the Cardinals, Brewers, D-backs and Padres the first couple weeks of next month. So we will indeed find out just how good they are (and then fathom can really get excited). No reason for the personal comments about me. I don't see what's so bad about me saying they're a good team? Their offense is significantly better this year than last year with the upgrades in RF and at catcher position. That sad, it's too bad they don't face Santana this week.
  24. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 20, 2008 -> 08:33 PM) Marmol and who else? Wood is shaky and is oft injured. Its very thin, and if a starter gets knocked out early their pen shows it weakness. They have decent long men in Lieber and Hart (Lou's been pulling his starters very early so far). Wuertz is a solid reliever, as righties suck vs him. Hopefully Howry continues to suck. So far, they've made the right choice in moving Dempster to the rotation.
  25. QUOTE (Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Apr 20, 2008 -> 08:31 PM) Fathom, has this become our pseudo-Brewers support thread? Yep
