  1. Just more pathetic managing by the Astros. Why don't you run Bruntlett there to avoid the SB? Kendall can't throw out anyone. Once again, a horrible umpiring call leads to a Cubs win, as the Pence call cost the Astros a run. I hate this f***ing baseball season so much.
  2. Cubs just got a huge break in the 8th, as Pence was called out at 3rd base on a play that wasn't even close. Just idiotic base running, which is no surprise.
  3. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 13, 2007 -> 01:25 AM) BA, the site that you often use to back up your pessimistic views, had Sweeney has #55 on the top 100 prospects for 2007. After a dissapointing year in AAA for a 22 year old, I have a real hard time thinking he is a "non-prospect" You'll be surprised at how far he drops.
  4. QUOTE(29andPoplar @ Sep 12, 2007 -> 08:28 PM) You may very well be right but on the other hand, lots of things can change and based on White Sox offseasons they usually do. Do you think there's any chance that JR, KW, and Ozzie see how ridiculous the salaries will be this offseason, and decide to go into rebuilding mode with a rotation of Buehrle, Vazquez, Danks, Gio, and Floyd, and trading Garland, Contreras, not tendering Crede, etc?
  5. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 12, 2007 -> 08:19 PM) The standard punishment for this sort of thing is the loss of multiple draft picks. I don't see why they shouldn't have their 2008 1st round pick taken away to start. They're really lucky the league isn't considering making them forfeit the game.
  6. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 11, 2007 -> 10:45 PM) They were also using illegal methods of communications. The Pats were using Walkie Talkies to bypass the system that automatically shuts off the headsets. This is some seriously bush league s*** right here. Every member of the coaching staff involved in this incident should be suspended, and the Pats should lose multiple draft picks.
  7. And just like that, the Brewers are trailing again. With their schedule down the stretch, they don't have a very good chance. No one in baseball has an easy finish to their schedule than the Cubs do.
  8. I can't f***ing stand Ned Yost. How in the hell does he let Jenkins face the lefty out of the bullpen? Grabow is much tougher on lefties, and Jenkins hits only .233 against LHP. Does Yost not know he has an expanded roster? The Brewers deserve to lose this game after that atrocious managing in the 8th inning.
  9. Why in the hell did Yost let Hall bat? He's had a terrible season, a terrible game, and they have much better options off the bench in either Gross vs a righty or Dillon to face a lefty.
  10. I'll be shocked if he's in the organization after this offseason.
  11. QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 12, 2007 -> 03:42 AM) You guys want to lose every night to get a shot at those names? I'll be breathless counting the days til the draft. Give me free agents and Japanese players any day over no names in the draft that likely will not pan out judging the Sox history of draft picks. At least you're not asking for the Sox to spend too much money, as those guys come cheap.
  12. Cubs get two lucky breaks on the DeRosa at-bat, as he was very close to going on the check swing, and then that 3-2 pitch has been a strike all game. Here comes J. Jones, the man they didn't even want on the team.
  13. Marmol has games when he's downright unhittable. I called it earlier, but he's turned into K-Rod from a couple of years ago. I'm so disappointed in the at-bats by Berkman tonight. He looks like he wants to get out of the batter's box as soon as possible.
  14. That was the most impressive non-homer Richar hit this year.
  15. Pitching to Aramis with an open base in the 9th? Can an interim manager be fired? Not like it matters...the Astros can't even make contact against the Cubs relievers.
  16. This is someone I usually don't criticize too much, but how does Don Cooper justify having a job after the horrible performance by so many of our pitchers the last two seasons? More than anyone, he's living off of 2005.
  17. It's a changeup by Broadway, not a splitter. Matt Thornton doing his best to keep us tied with Tampa after tonight. Oh, and Cecil Cooper is as bad of a manager as Phil Garner was.
  18. QUOTE(daa84 @ Sep 12, 2007 -> 01:08 AM) its all about command with danks, to me...a cutter would certainly be a weapon.....but right now to me theres really no difference in stuff between danks and lets say rich hill or even sean marshall......while those guys havent been great for the cubs, they have been very solid for young pitchers......the thing is those guys both command their curve balls much better than danks, which, at least for hill, allows him to climb the latter and get the high strikeout with his 92 mph heater Like you said....Hill probably gets as many swings and misses on his fastball, which is around 92 mph, than pitchers who are throwing 98 and 99 mph. It's because he gets them sitting on the big, slow hook, and then he throws the high fastball past him. However, Hill is a real bad pitcher when he doesn't have that command, and throws his fastball down in the zone. Hopefully Danks develops, as I'm definitely not giving up on him. I think I was just expecting more as the season went on, especially due to how he's developed over the course of seasons in his career.
  19. Excellent analysis on Richar, Poplar. He is able to get in a good position with his quickness, but he just doesn't make the plays that should be made. It's one of the reasons I said his defense has been nowhere near as good as some on this board think it's been.
  20. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 12, 2007 -> 12:58 AM) Oh come on. The kid is completely spent. He is up a year early. I bet we see him shave at least a run off this ERA next year. He has got to learn a cut fastball. A 90 mph straight fastball won't cut it in the Cell. You and I have talked at length about how bad his mechanics got once May went by the board.
  21. With Tampa winning and Florida in a close game, how ironic would it be if we go into sole possession of last place in baseball today on the day we extend Ozzie?
  22. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 12, 2007 -> 12:53 AM) Man it seems like I haven't seen one of Danks' real good hooks in a long time. He's going to need that pitch if he wants to be successful. His fastball/changeup combo is okay but certainly not good enough to get by without an accomanying third pitch (breaking ball). I just don't see it with Danks. His fastball is nowhere near what I thought it was going to be, and he's wild in the strike zone. I'm not even sure you can count on him as a #5 next year, but I know he'll probably be our 4.
  23. Nice of the Astros to pitch Backe against the Cubs. He looks like he's throwing 80 mph out there. And of course, Wandy got scratched from his start this series.
