Sox Challenge Angels to a Game of Baseball!
fathom replied to Kalapse's topic in 2007 Season in Review
Looks like Walker did a great job of telling Richar that Colon has a tailing fastball. -
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Sep 14, 2007 -> 10:18 PM) If I'm misreading him, fine, but it very much seems like he's complaining -- why isn't it censored? Oh, they're the ones who showed Lovelace sucking dick. I'm just saying, Yo, it's HBO. You pay for it. You have a good idea what you're getting. Are you seriously complaining that HBO is not censored? I was watching the same thing, and was shocked at what they showed during the documentary. They never, ever show that, no matter what the show is. I can guarantee you that he wasn't complaining.

Oh trust me, I don't want to even think of ARod playing for the Cubs over the next 7 years chasing Bonds record. I wonder if Canseco will come out with his stories on ARod before the free agency period begins.

Sox Challenge Angels to a Game of Baseball!

Hawk's going to set a record for complaining about the umps tonight. I can't blame him though, Eric Cooper is the least respected umpire in baseball. -
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Sep 15, 2007 -> 12:33 AM) Well, that's why we kept Ozzie. To lure the free agents. Yep, Ozzie and ARod have a great relationship.
-
I'm sure ARod would take no heat if he chose to sign with one of the 3 worst teams in baseball. Does anyone actually think JR would outspend owners like Moreno or the new Cubs owner for ARod, while dealing with Boras? The sad thing is there's so many other holes with the Sox, signing ARod might get us into a battle for 3rd place in the division.

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Sep 15, 2007 -> 12:28 AM) God I hate the Brewers. Sheets is obviously struggling with that finger, as nearly every pitch he's thrown in his last three starts has been up in the zone. It wouldn't shock me if they shut him down after tonight. That team is just so washed up, and I really hope they fire Yost after this year.
-
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Sep 15, 2007 -> 12:24 AM) Will Boras allow Kenny to meet alone with Alex Rodriguez this time? I can't believe people even waste their time thinking of ideas of how the Sox can sign ARod.
-
Looks like Yost had the Brewers ready for tonight's game!
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 14, 2007 -> 09:36 PM) Why in the hell would ARod come here over say either LA team or the Cubs and Sweet Lou (AKA: Father Figure)? He won't, but there's no need for common sense in this thread.
-
Hopefully this start by Trachsel is good enough to keep him in the rotation!
-
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Sep 14, 2007 -> 01:26 AM) Just making sure you weren't talking about Schuerholz. Has Berkman been as bad as he's looked everytime I see him this year? Nope, he was actually on a great run a few weeks ago. He's been beyond bad against the Cubs this year though.
-
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Sep 14, 2007 -> 01:18 AM) Every team benefited. And if you're making specific allegations, you should follow up. All you have to do is look at the power numbers for guys like Javy Lopez, Richard Hidalgo, Morgan Ensberg, etc. I'm not saying those guys were on steroids/HGH.....but it's very, very suspicious.
-
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Sep 14, 2007 -> 01:10 AM) Astros are terrible. The Astros and Braves are two teams that sure seemed to benefit from performance enhancing drugs over the last decade.
-
Steve Trachsel is just horrible. The Astros should have 5 or 6 runs by now.
-
I'm sure happy the Cubs didn't have to face Oswalt this series. Have no fear, he'll face the Brewers when they play next.
-
ARod is not a possibility for the Sox. He's going to get 5-125/130 this offseason, and Boras is his agent. I don't even want the Sox to consider him. They have so many other holes to fill than what he would provide.
-
7 straight losses for the Cards since the Ankiel HGH story broke. I heard last night that the clubhouse hates LaRussa. At least they're hot going into the Cubs series this wknd.
-
It would have been ironic if he left, as he's been arguably the most valuable employee in the organization off the field this year, with regards to the contract extensions he's worked out with Buehrle and Dye.
-
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 13, 2007 -> 02:26 PM) HGH test for mass use probably coming soon, likely to be used by MLB in 2008. Certain free agents just saw their stock drop significantly. I wonder if some teams will trade some big name players for cheap due to the belief their production will be impacted.
-
Brandon Webb has now given up 18 runs over his last 32 innings. Needless to say, we all need him to get back on track if the DBacks want to be considered the favorites if the play the Cubs in the NLDS.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Sep 13, 2007 -> 04:09 AM) 1 week is going to give KW confidence? KW put together a horrible team, but don't mistake him as an idiot. They'll point to his 20 homers when the season is over and say how there's not many other SS in baseball that can produce his power numbers.
-
QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 13, 2007 -> 04:06 AM) Exactly. Another reason I don't care about the draft as compared to us winning games. There will be more Boras free agents on the market this offseason than Boras first round draft picks.

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Sep 13, 2007 -> 04:07 AM) If I have EVER said I wouldn't have hired Ozzie, give me a link, else stfu and stop putting words in my mouth. I LIKED the Ozzie hire quite a bit at first. My initial opinion was that Gaston was sort of dull, a manager doesn't matter much, anyway, and it'll be better to have a bit of a spark. Not a big advantage, but okay, better. Not that I'm saying I would have hired him. I admit that I have no f***ing clue. You can express an opinion, sure, but you stated a fact. Not, I wish this wouldn't have been done, but, I would not have done this. Since you don't know ANYTHING about the people involved -- how do you know people weren't praising Williams or didn't know him? -- it comes off as, It was so obvious that Williams was the wrong choice that even I know that he shouldn't have got the job, and I don't even know the other names who would have been considered. It strikes me as a pretty smarmy remark, so I just asked you to back it up. I don't think that's such a big demand. I actually loved the Ozzie hire, as well. I was so mesmerized by the press conference in which he was introduced as manager.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Sep 13, 2007 -> 03:16 AM) I don't have a list of guys who were available when he was promoted to GM but I'm sure there are a ton of good guys from other organizations with good track records who were available. I'd probably look for someone from outside the organization and with some good, concrete experience. How's that any different than how Ozzie was hired?
