I can't even count the number of times AJP has left the tying run in scoring position this year with 2 outs in the 9th inning.
-
The Cardinals have left a man on 3rd base now in 5 of the 6 innings. I wonder which Cubs player will hit the go-ahead homer tonight?

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 16, 2007 -> 01:46 AM) Williams has anything thought of having Pods and PodsLite in the lineup next season, just play him a tape of the 8th inning. It's bad enough that they're not good....it's the lack of baseball IQ that pisses me off.
-
Pods swung at ball four a couple of times that AB. Who would want Thome to have the bases loaded anyways?
-
3 left on by the Cards already, including a runner on 3rd and less than 2 outs. I've never seen a team quit on a manager more than they have on LaRussa. I heard an interesting comment that multiple members of the Cards won't even talk to him anymore. f*** this, Pineiro with just some horrific starts vs the Cubs this week. I hope someone punches Len Kasper in his vagina, he's beyond annoying right now.
-
I really don't know how Garland gets anyone out these days. Thankfully, we haven't extended him, as he just sucks now.
-
Good grief, the Cardinals freaking suck. I have a bad feeling that the jackass Cubs fans at work are going to be worse than ever on Monday. I'm not watching the game, but a friend told me that Soriano got a 3-2 high fastball on the pitch he hit for a homer. If true, whoever called that pitch should be punched in the face.

Why does Miguel Cairo always kill the Sox, and then look like the worst hitter ever when you're rooting for him?

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Sep 15, 2007 -> 03:43 AM) I've heard from two sources -- one on this board, one independent of -- that Ozzie is constantly calling them out for playing without any hunger, desire or energy. It just doesn't work. There are some people on this team that just have to go. And, of course, we need to bring back Aaron Rowand. Interesting you mention that, because Ozzie had some words for AJP after he didn't run hard on a pop up to first base. AJ is the type of guy who wears out his welcome in places, and I wonder if it's not time to look to trade him this offseason (and obviously have to find another catcher on the market/trade). On the other hand, with what you say, it's concerning that there's that lack of r'ship between Ozzie and the players. It's one of the main reasons that I won't be mad if we sign Rowand....I honestly believe he was the leader of that 2005 team. -

QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 15, 2007 -> 02:50 AM) They should be banned for life if it can be proven they are purposely "tanking." You are paid; you play the game as hard as you can. If not you should be banned forever. Heard of the Black Sox? Yep, and I believe there's way too many complacent personalities on the Sox. It's probably the biggest disappointment I have in regards to Ozzie, and it's been his inability to get this team motivated (for the last year and a half). -
Brewers were in the tease business tonight as well. Have a bad feeling it's going to be a 3 game lead after tomorrow. If you're lucky though, you might be able to catch an Adam Dunn homer in the Gurnee area tomorrow against Suppan. I'm still pissed we didn't trade Contreras for him.

QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 15, 2007 -> 02:41 AM) It's not like they've been playing great baseball. They're still losing at a rapid clip. WHat do you mean it doesn't make sense? Have you ever played a sport? These guys are getting paid. You go out and do your job and play hard or you should be banned from the game for life. People that want the No. 1 draft pick so badly baffle me. It's not like the Sox will sign that pick anyway. Build through free agency, and Japanese players and trade for a reliever this offseason. In the meantime, just win baby. By far the stupidest argument yet about this whole subject. It costs a hell of a lot less to sign a top pick than some overvalued free agent. And I also am of the opinion that there's a few players on this team who have been coasting for a few months now. Should they be banned for life? -
I'll compare Danks to Gio....I don't think either are anything more than a #5 starter in the majors.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Sep 15, 2007 -> 02:34 AM) First word that came into my head after seeing Yahoo refresh. Stupid grinders. You have no idea how hard the first 6 balls in that inning were hit.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Sep 15, 2007 -> 02:34 AM) First word that came into my head after seeing Yahoo refresh. Stupid grinders. The pitch to Miles was such a meatball. Nothing like one of the weaker power hitters in all of baseball trying to hit a homer.
-
Wow, what a tease. Another just horrible baseball day. Aaron Miles had some atrocious at-bats in that game.

QUOTE(southsida86 @ Sep 15, 2007 -> 02:14 AM) It seems as if the Sox are going to play themselves out of a top 5 pick. I don't endorse tanking, but how can you suck so badly during the bulk of the season, and then turn it on when it doesn't matter anymore? It just doesn't make sense. The baseball season has been such a nightmare....did you expect something good to actually happen? -
The Cubs amazing bench just put away another game. To have Ward, Monroe, Murton, Fontenot, Pie and Soto on the bench is just ridiculous. LaRussa just got his ass handed to him by Pinella for about the 20th time this year.
-
So, the Cardinals have a team full of grinders right now, with Miles/Cairo/Schumaker/Ryan.....will someone explain to me why they can't score? They're on their way to being 0-8 since Ankiel's HGH use story broke.
-
Just what we need....Floyd to get hot. Isn't it time for him to get injured again?

QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 15, 2007 -> 01:26 AM) We'll find out next summer when the Sox struggle and/or fail to sign the No. 1 draft pick that has many fans hoping we lose. Don't worry....a few more completely worthless wins, and we won't have that first pick. I'm shocked that people haven't used the Greg Oden injury angle as a reason we don't want the first pick. I've heard every other lame excuse. -
The interview done before the game with Thome's dad and wife was just awesome.
-
The whole having your pitcher back #8 is really a stupid idea. However, Zambrano looks to be regaining his sinker, which is not good news at all (shocking, I know).
-
QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Sep 15, 2007 -> 12:34 AM) Why is it every team I like turns to s*** the minute I pay attention to them this year. Unless terrorists kidnap the entire team, there is no way the Cubs do not win the Central. Oh they'll win it easily, and get to face a DBacks team without Orlando Hudson and with Brandon Webb back to being mortal. I really hope the Phillies win the wild card, and that would make the Cubs face the Mets in the first round.
-
And there goes Sheets after 3 innings. I wonder if we'll see him again this season. It's amazing how flat the Cardinals also look. Their swings couldn't hit Jim Parque right now.
