QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Feb 27, 2008 -> 08:08 PM) You want to see Danks work on his cutter, and practice pounding it in. Judging pitching in Tuscon is hard. I just want to see him compete on the mound and have better mechanics than he did the last half of his starts last season.

Anyone see this on rotoworld? Quite impressive...but at least their corner defense seems awful. CF Curtis Granderson, 2B Placido Polanco, DH Gary Sheffield, RF Magglio Ordonez, 3B Cabrera, 1B Carlos Guillen, SS Edgar Renteria, C Ivan Rodriguez and LF Jacque Jones

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Feb 27, 2008 -> 08:03 PM) From you, or just in general? I hate Spring Training for the fact people get so caught up in actual performance. Nice to see you're still alive though.

So it's on the record: please don't play any of our players at positions they're not familiar with or won't realistically play at the position during the regular season. Go Sox!

That Jajuan Smith three pointer was ridiculous....nice range.

QUOTE(mr_genius @ Feb 27, 2008 -> 02:35 AM) I like how she wants us to have an economy more like Germany. Maybe she doesn't realize they have an unemployment significantly higher than ours. Russet's question about over-exaggerating how many jobs she would create was awesome.

I can't believe that b**** brought up Saturday Night Live. I never thought it would be possible, but I hate her more than my mother-in-law now.

QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Feb 27, 2008 -> 02:13 AM) All she has is her healthcare, thats her bread and butter. Obama is so funny he wants to talk but she wont shut up. I hate her....BTW, a new poll says Republicans feel McCain would have a 66 pct chance of beating Hillary, and 18 pct think he'd beat Obama.

Sox' Lack of Focus "Unacceptable"
QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Feb 26, 2008 -> 07:40 PM) I will also agree that the lack of effort has been shown since late 2006. It seems they came to spring training last year with the same attitude and it was a miricale that the Sox were about .500 after the first two months of the season. I hope this team is coming to spring training with more intensity and passion just like the 2005 season. I know many of you didn't like Podsednik, and granted, I don't get to see a lot of games so my thinking could be off a bit, but I never saw him jog out ground balls, his hustle was there. I thought Pods was the biggest culprit of this lack of hustle. Erstad was great at hustling, and as much as we disliked how much playing time he got, the team was better with him healthy than when he was out.

Sox' Lack of Focus "Unacceptable"
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 26, 2008 -> 05:22 PM) A lack of effort of focus was certainly not reason number 1 for a lousy 2007. Probably not in the top 5. But still, I think there is plenty of mental conditioning at play in the game, and I am glad to see things like what Williams said (and DA quoted). Hustle, focus and gamesmanship can be key parts. I definitely agree that the players need to hustle more. Cabrera and Swisher should help with this. However, I'm not sure how hustling's going to improve our percentages against tough lefties.

Sox' Lack of Focus "Unacceptable"
What a stupid article. It was more about talent than anything else last year. Did anyone really expect a starting lineup with Pods and Erstad in the 1/2 spot to win a very tough division? Is extra motivation and preparation really going to add velocity back to the pitches thrown by Contreras? I'm not even going to start on how effective Ozzie can motivate this core anymore, but these type of excuses for a miserable season are foolish.

Your official Cub predictions for '08?
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Feb 25, 2008 -> 05:48 AM) "162-0 followed by 11-0 in the playoffs." -fathom I figured this was coming...I guess I deserve it. Buster Olney predicted an Indians/Cubs World Series today. I'm going with a Red Sox/Mets WS. I think the Cubs will go 88-74, and win the NL Central. And FWIW, my Sox projected record is 72-90. We might have the worst 3-5 starting rotation in all of baseball.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Feb 25, 2008 -> 12:27 AM) Question for Bears fans. McFadden sounds as if he's got some serious character issues, and he's slipping. Atlanta probably ain't going to take him at #3, who knows what the Raiders will do at #4. My question is, if he's there at #14, do you take him? I don't buy the character issues at all. I think it's more likely a team with a higher pick is throwing this out there in order to hope he falls a few spots.

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Feb 24, 2008 -> 12:04 AM) What's the source on that? By the way, this subject hasn't been discussed nearly enough in this thread. Jamar missed at least one game during the season due to "internal issues", and it's been common knowledge he got drinking tickets. I know 101 can back me up on this.

QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Feb 21, 2008 -> 08:02 PM) Those comments were made before Carlwell decided to transfer. Im not exactly sure whats wrong with what Weber said, I understand Carlwell went through a tragic accident, but at the same time should Weber just give him a spot on the team and not expect him to work as hard as the rest of the players? At the end of the day, Carlwell has been looked at as a victim, and therefore he has been given a lot of concessions. I cant find an article, but im pretty sure that Carlwell had been drinking that night as well. I was under the impression those comments came out today.
