  1. QUOTE(quickman @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 02:27 AM) Fathom this is the same owner and GM that brought you the world series. The same principals applied then as they do now. The very best way to speak to the owner is not to go to the park. They are counting on you to go. Don't go and don't watch, otherwise the whitesox are run the exact same way as they were two years ago. In fact I am sure KW and JR are kicking themselves at signing konerko. Right now he is worthless. They won't make that mistake again. They got my money all day yesterday, and they should be f***ing ashamed of themselves. KW basically lucked into the 2005 offseason.....hell, he traded Carlos Lee for Barbaro.
  2. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 02:19 AM) After all this has happened, not only is Mark not going to stay, but the Sox have substantially lowered his value due to the talks. Nice work. And by reading the recent article, it's obvious it wasn't about the NTC. Now, we're putting ourselves in a whole when it comes other negotiations, as it would look awful if they offered another FA a NTC after we wouldn't give it to Buehrle. It's pretty sad when a big market team can't sign a pitcher to a massive discount.
  3. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 02:20 AM) In the very least, this situation will provide entertainment with all the horrible over-exaggerations that will be on here over the next week. Going to be a lot of fun. If the trade doesn't bring back high value, it's going to be one of the uglier weeks in modern Sox history.
  4. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 02:19 AM) After all this has happened, not only is Mark not going to stay, but the Sox have substantially lowered his value due to the talks. Nice work. With everything that has gone on this year, I don't think Kenny Williams deserves to keep his job. Not only does he have one of the worst 100 million dollar teams in history, but the future of this organization looks about as bad as ever. It's hard to see how we won't be competing for anything higher than 3rd phace over the next 5 years.
  5. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2929267 If it's true the Sox declined that extra year option if he was traded, then they obviously don't want him on the team for the next four years. This is total f***ing bulls*** now, and this organization will deserve all the s*** they receive in the next week. I can't wait for KW to trade for more underachieving 24 year old pitchers who they think they can fix by what they see on the video.
  6. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 02:08 AM) When did I say we'd become the Pirates? I'm just saying you can't win a World Series by ignoring the biggest agent in baseball and not giving any no trade clauses. That isn't to say we'll suck, but if we go that route we have to win by drafting well and making a lot of good trades, and although we've done part 2 of that under KW, we have not done part 1. Plus, we're in a pretty good division, so I'm not counting on success unless policies change, and that goes for the GM and Owner. Those 2 could win, but policies must change and 2 men that stubborn don't strike me as types that will adjust to a changing market. I have no clue how JR and KW think they can get the talent level back up again to be playoff caliber.
  7. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 01:02 AM) Have fun watching Gavin Floyd every 5 days next year. Plus whatever rookie or retread takes Contreras' slot. Good pithcing is hard to find, and the 4 year deal for Buehrle isn't that big of a risk. KC signed Meche, but the Sox won't take this risk.... Don't forget whoever takes over for Garland. If you're not going to give out NTC, you better be trading Garland, Contreras, Thome, Iguchi, etc. QUOTE(SEALgep @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 01:02 AM) For who? Even if the negotiation leaks were the fault of Buehrle's family, the Sox organization looks absolutely pathetic right now.
  8. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 5, 2007 -> 01:40 AM) Rickie Weeks has been pathetic since he returned from the DL. He's still absolutely pathetic. He's swinging an invisible wand, but they keep playing him.
  9. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 12:10 AM) Ryan Braun and Prince Fielder have both homered again tonight, those 2 are just insane. And they haven't scored since. That team's going to need to add another bat if they want to make the playoffs. Jeff Suppan's contact with them is going to be quite the poor choice in the long run.
  10. QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 11:44 PM) I don't know if anyone saw the postgame interview with MB today... but things don't look good. When asked the odds of him being here after the all star break, he said 50/50, but probably would lean towards getting moved. He also threw something in there about being discouraged and actually said something along the lines of going into Kenny and Rick Hahn about pulling the deal off the table. He said whatever is going to happen he would just like it to happen now. It's really pathetic how this is being handled right now.
  11. QUOTE(iamshack @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 10:40 PM) Just bring the kid up and give him another chance, for the love of Pete. He's been hitting well of late, and he deserves another chance. If only he had lead off experience.
  12. Red Sox would move Ellsbury for the right guy....they won't trade Buccholz though.
  13. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 10:37 PM) Well, Anderson not playing for Charlotte tonight. Either something's happening with him or he's got Dye's Syndrome, where everything goes wrong with you when there's a chance of getting traded. I think he got injured, as he was ph for in the 8th last night.
  14. Any postgame press conference tidbits?
  15. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 10:30 PM) I didn't think I needed green for that bold statement. My sincere apologies...and well done then! SSI....I don't think KW could have asked for a worse 30 hour span if he was set on trading Buehrle over the ASB in regards to how the fans would react to the trade.
  16. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 10:24 PM) You're kidding right? It was a Buehrle quality start/win, a Jenks save, a Konerko HR, and we are now only 6 GB from the Twins. We can close to within 5 games with a win tomorrow. 5 games within 3rd place? Hell yeah, if we finish in 3rd this year, there better be a DVD after the season with highlights of our dramatic climb towards .500.
  17. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 10:19 PM) Is it just me, or does it just seem like the organization just doesn't want Buehrle anymore? It's not about the money, and it's not about the NTC, they just want him gone, for some reason... I don't know, I just get that vibe. If they wanted him here for sure for the next 4 years, they would give him the NTC. The ironic thing with Buehrle is that he's the one guy in baseball you could give a full NTC, but if needed, I'm sure he'd waive the NTC if a deal with the Cardinals was made.
  18. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 10:16 PM) 70 for 78 in saves in his career. I'm sorry he didn't blow it though so you could keep saying he sucks, he only throws 93. He better keep working on that cutter then if he wants to keep throwing 92 mph fastballs with no movement.
  19. Nice play by Iguchi to end it. I wish the season didn't come down to the games being a distraction from the Buehrle contract issue.
  20. QUOTE(Brian @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 10:12 PM) You say it everytime he comes in. And how many times do people say...don't worry, he'll regain it as the season goes on. I just want to know how you lose 5 to 6 mph in a year and a half?
  21. Haha...it's sad seeing what's become of the velocity of Bobby Jenks.
  22. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 10:05 PM) Thome does not hit lefties, but they have the heart of the order up and Thome could easily still make it 5-0. That is beyond inexcuseable to be picked off. It's a given....any game in which we have a lead in the 8th inning, we'll have the runner caught stealing with 2 outs. I forget who keeps saying that on here, but it's so accurate.
  23. Neither Garland or Buehrle has textbook great stuff. And if you ask a scout, they'd say Garland has the better stuff. Of course, I'm sure our scouts would tell you Garland throws 94 mph with a dynamite change.
  24. If the Sox do not re-sign Buehrle due to the NTC, can we then ban any post that states the Sox will try to sign any marquee player like Ichiro, ARod, Zambrano, etc.? in today's day and age, you're not getting a good player in free agency without a NTC.
  25. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 10:01 PM) Watching Buehrle tip the cap and hug Ozzie made me very, very sad. Since you disagree with 99 pct of the stuff I say, did you agree with me that there was a lot more to Buehrle packing up his locker yesterday than what people believed?
