Official Hate for the Milwaukee Brewers Thread
I can't believe Ned Yost continues to put in his defensive lineup in the 7th inning of games. That's cost him some valuable Braun at-bats throughout the year.

That was just completely idiotic by the 3rd base coach. Why give up the easy out on a play there was a very little chance of going right for your team? Griffey Jr. is killing the reds tonight.

Well, Linebrink is in now. If the Brewers blow this, at least I can't fault him. f***ing Griffey Jr.

The Battle For Last Place in the AL Central
QUOTE(29andPoplar @ Sep 20, 2007 -> 01:55 AM) Just a question. Who would get upset? No one who posts here follows the potential draft picks close enough to know a fraction of what the scouts see and know. Anyone who gets upset should not be taken seriously because basically they'd just be blowing smoke to blow smoke. The only person I've read on this board who knows the prospects more than at arm's length is the young guy who goes to Vanderbilt and has regularly seen the Vandy guys play. He knows about the Vanderbilt guys. The rest of the people, like myself included, follow what's on the internet and on the media for the most part. Even if people see a game or two or three, it doesn't make them qualified to get upset. It's opinions, it's not based on credible knowledge. Heck I saw Wyatt Allen pitch in a college playoff game and got all excited about him. Oops. That's exactly what I'm saying....they'll see some people post on here that they want such-and-such player, and if he goes before us, they'll act all mad or say that JR wouldn't have taken him cause of money issues. I just don't understand how some people can't see the huge potential difference between the 2nd and 8th pick, etc.

I can't believe Yost is going to leave Bush in for the 7th inning. He's blown numerous games this year in this same situation. You got Linebrink for a reason! Lots of runners left on in scoring position by Milwaukee tonight.

What bad, bad at-bats for Ross and Gonzalez there.

Anyone else just see that horrific call by the 2nd base ump on the Hart steal attempt?

The Battle For Last Place in the AL Central
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Sep 20, 2007 -> 01:29 AM) Unbelievable. This team can't even lose right. Eh, I'm still penciling in a stud for whatever slot we fall to. No excuses. With the way this season has been going, did you really expect anything different? When certain posters are upset that some draftee we wanted got picked right before the Sox pick, that will serve them right.

David Bush is the king of giving up runs right after the Brewers scored.

It's sad to see how much Griffey Jr.'s ability and energy has deteriorated.

This worked well last night: Let's hope tonight isn't that night where the Brewers get shut down by a pitcher that has no business beating them.

Ozzie Extension
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 19, 2007 -> 01:57 PM) Ozzie now saying that not everyone on the current coaching staff is guaranteed a job in 2008. Yes, but it sounds like Walker and Cooper are safe. Funny enough, that article makes it seem like Razor might not be back.

QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Sep 19, 2007 -> 03:09 AM) Did anybody else hear Kasper and Brenly b****ing about how the Brewers were gonna miss Oswalt and Williams (and his 5.04 ERA)? Oh yes, they said the MLB office will be calling the Astros and asking what's the real story. The comical thing is the Cubs have missed Oswalt in each of the last two series they have faced the Astros. Maybe a funnier thing I heard tonight was Zambrano whining about the Reds getting a lot of bloop hits.

2007 Post ASB MLB Catch-All Thread
The Reds just botched a routine double play ball in the 9th due to Phillips trying a 20 foot flip to the SS. I'm sure that will come back to haunt us....or not! Big win by the Reds. Jared Burton is one of my favorite pitchers in baseball.

I agree, that was the best stuff I've seen from Floyd yet. His wind-up seemed more smooth.

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Sep 19, 2007 -> 01:36 AM) Somebody here recently was very accurate when they compared Sheets to Mark Prior. I disagree....they actually find legit injuries with Sheets. He seems like someone with some overdeveloped ligaments. I'm rather upset that the Reds just used Cantu instead of Hatteberg to face Wood. Hatteberg's the type of hitter who will just make Wood throw three strikes, something he can't do.

What a cheap hit by Jones to score 2 on a huge 2 out rally as Harang had been cruising. I have no idea why they were shading Jones so much up the middle.

Just fire Ned Yost now and take Brewers fans out of their misery. Sheets looked just awful last Friday, so he brings him back on 3 days rest. One inning into tonight's game, and he got pulled already.

Sox Vs. Royals
QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ Sep 19, 2007 -> 12:22 AM) Gload is good. I think one of the main downfalls of the team this year was the just horrible bench. Cintron's numbers won't look that bad at the end of the year, but he was worthless for the first 130 games of the season. Toby's been the worst player in baseball this season as well.

Sox Vs. Royals
Bad Floyd showed up today. Gload is such a solid hitter, we really missed him on the bench this year.

Sox Vs. Royals
QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Sep 18, 2007 -> 11:56 PM) If we trade Jon Garland and not Jose Contreras this team will be making a huge error. Jose should be the one they market, but if they can't trade him fine. We are going to be breaking up a strong starting staff and most likely not get the pieces of the winning team we will need. Either Danks or Flopyd will be the 5th starter. Maybe the other one will be the long relief man-spot starter. Garland has so much upside and was a two time 18 game winner for the Sox. Every year we go through the same sorry scenarios of trading Garland. We trade Jon and fill a hole maybe only to open one up in the pitching staff. You don't build a championship team that way. I would keep Jon no matter what and fill spots through free agent signings. 3B is a problem that will be filled when Crede is back in 2008 and Fields takes over LF. CF might be an issue, but we have options. SS is really the only concern besides the bullpen. Garland's going to be gone after next season, so it's much smarter to trade him if you can get 2 or 3 pieces that will be around for the next 5 years.

Sox Vs. Royals
QUOTE(29andPoplar @ Sep 18, 2007 -> 11:04 PM) You are on the right track in my opinion and I am putting bits and pieces together from what little whispers I hear. Not necessarily on Colon but someone of that ilk. A rehabbing veteran on a make good contract with a low base and high incentives. Someone they can DL at the start of the year and work them in later. There are a number of guys out there that fit the profile, the obvious is Freddy Garcia but he may be out all of next year. Mark Prior

Josh Fields
QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Sep 18, 2007 -> 03:10 PM) and? I don't think anyone questioned that or really cared... Because I am often pessimistic about players that I'm not high on, like Owens, Pods, etc. I'm very happy with Fields power so far. The one thing that's been disappointing is his speed. I expected a little more speed getting out of the box based on his minor league steal numbers.
