  1. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Mar 9, 2007 -> 04:14 PM) You only deal for Rowand if he's ungodly cheap. We've got enough OF. Which outfielders do we have that can put up decent to solid numbers vs LHP?
  2. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 9, 2007 -> 04:06 PM) If we gave up Phillips we would be on the losing end of that deal. Why's that? Phillips isn't even on the radar as far as the big league team. Here's the way I look at it: Brian Anderson sucks. Thus, if we send him down to the minors, I wouldn't mind having a platoon of Erstad/Rowand in CF.
  3. I'd be all for a trade of Rowand for Logan, even though I know it won't happen.
  4. The refs in the GT game were an absolute joke. Every 50/50 call went to WF, and they called 12 offensive fouls on the Yellow Jackets. Tough to win when the refs suck and the other team makes 16 out of 23 three pointers. I'm still confident GT will get in....too many top 50 wins not to.
  5. Thornton is a LHP with a world class fastball. Floyd is a righty with an average fastball.
  6. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 8, 2007 -> 10:13 PM) Rogowski now PH for Konerko. Anyone else find it interesting that Rogo is getting so much work in ST? Trade bait perhaps? Yep, him and Tracey will likely be moved in a minor league deal shortly.
  7. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2007 @ Mar 8, 2007 -> 10:01 PM) Agreed. But thanks to Bobby Jenks and Aaron Rowand, and Scott Podsednik
  8. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2007 @ Mar 8, 2007 -> 09:56 PM) I know it sounds simple, but it really is that simple. Yeah, Konerko's was probably more dramatic because we were behind. That's fair. But I have a hard time calling any HR that didn't actually win us a game the biggest in team history. Of course, Pods was the one who hit it. I'm sure if Dye or Crede had hit the walk-off no one would debate it was the bigger HR. It doesn't matter who hit it....that grand slam on the 1st pitch after a commercial break was as dramatic a situation as possible.
  9. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 8, 2007 -> 09:31 PM) Your negativity hurt the team. banned for life... Trust me, I was scared to go back to the park. However, the only game I went to last year happened to be the Pods grand slam game vs the Astros. The poor Astros....Scott Podsednik is their version of our Mike Sweeney.
  10. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 8, 2007 -> 09:28 PM) The only loss im sure Yep
  11. Anyone want to guess what the only playoff game I went to was?
  12. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 8, 2007 -> 09:25 PM) Even with all of the world series stuff...I still don't know if there was a moment I am more a fan of than Joe Crede vs. David Riske. I don't think any of the other moments even happen without that swing. That's funny, because that is very likely the most important regular season homer in Sox history.
  13. QUOTE(Y2HH @ Mar 8, 2007 -> 09:23 PM) I loved the Konerko homer -- but I have to admit, Pods was far more dramatic -- obviously. From my pov, I thought the Konerko situation was so much more dramatic. The Pods homer was more surprising, but the PK homer was surreal. Hell, I was still pissed at Pods noodle arm for letting Burke score on that single in the 9th.
  14. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2007 @ Mar 8, 2007 -> 09:19 PM) LOL. You just refuse to give Pods any kind of credit. PK's homer was the turning point in that whole series. I can honestly say Konerko's homer was my favorite sports memory ever.
  15. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 8, 2007 -> 09:18 PM) What are you, watching the Rockies' coverage or something? Yahoo had the score as 6-2 about 10 minutes ago.
  16. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 8, 2007 -> 09:16 PM) Bottom 3RD B:0 S:0 O:2 Matt Holliday reaches on fielding error by third baseman Joe Crede. Garrett Atkins scores. Joe Koshansky to 2nd. I think Baker, the next batter, homers. Even with the unearned runs, you don't like to see Floyd give up so many runners.
  17. Who gave up 5 runs in the 3rd inning? Was it the great Gavin Floyd?
  18. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 8, 2007 -> 08:59 PM) He'd have to keep it up almost to 40. I doubt HOF, but he may get his number retired. He's going to end up 2nd in career Sox homers by a ton. Considering his heroics in the World Series, I'd think there's a great chance that he gets his jersey retired.
  19. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 8, 2007 -> 12:58 AM) Yeah, we lost again today. I guess everyone knew it was inevitable before gametime and just bothered not to create a thread. I listened on the radio, and it just sounded bad. Especially late. Spring Training games for the White Sox these last few seasons haven't been the prettiest of sights. Lumsden pitched two scoreless innings against us. -Contreras: 4IP, 5H, 6K's, 1BB, 1WP, 2ER -Massest: 2IP, 1H, 2K's, 1ER -Aardsma: 1.2IP, 2H, 1K, 1BB, 2ER -Oneli Perez: bad. Real bad. You'd think he never retired a single hitter after these last several outings. Anderson with a poor 0-4 game today. Aardsma continues to be my leading candidate for player who doesn't deserve to be on the 25 man roster.
  20. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Mar 6, 2007 -> 10:10 PM) You realize you can not win. JV sucks and should be released. This is the same as everyone berating Garland. Many people do not understand what 200 IP means they'd rather have the Mark Prior beautiful 82 IP and ESPN highlight game wrapped around DL stints. The guy is solid and solid costs about $13M a year at least. He gave the Sox a nice, real nice home town discount. This adds some starting rotation cost certainty for this and next year and for that Javier Vazquez gained a ton of respect in my book. Jon Garland is the most underrated player on the Sox over the last 2 years.
  21. QUOTE(Hideaway Lights @ Mar 6, 2007 -> 09:30 PM) losing his as a FA with no compensation? Sounds good to me. I thought we were stockpiling young arms for a reason I guess this is another nail in Buehrle's coffin I'd rather have Javy at 3/33 than Buehrle at 3/45.
  22. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 6, 2007 -> 09:16 PM) If Gil Meche signs a 5 year 55 million dollar contract and we get Javy for 3 years 34 million. I would say thats nice work by KW. Yep, I don't mind that contract at all. Even if he puts up a 5 ERA, he's still giving you innings. In today's market, that means 10 mil per year.
  23. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 6, 2007 -> 08:51 PM) Also Uribe looks pretty decent at the plate this ST. How's his stance?
  24. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 6, 2007 -> 08:49 PM) Is there a reason why they keep mentioning what Erstad did 7 years ago like it holds any f***ing merit? I like Erstad, but I have the feeling that Ozzie and Hawk are going to make him sound like the second coming of Ty Cobb. I just hope he's not the White Sox version of Jeff Blauser: once a Cubs killer, always a Cubs killer.
  25. AND WHO SAID WE WOULDN'T LOCK UP OUR CORE PLAYERS?
