  1. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 08:53 PM) Or THEY decided against it. I haven't seen much that tells me Crawford is even on the market. A bunch of names have come up this off-season in the media, and I haven't really seen any around Crawford, other than the X-Box trades people try to come up with. If the Sox were putting McCarthy on the table, Tampa would have listened. I can guarantee that for a fact. They were going to ask for more prospects also.
  2. Let me add this: KW got about equal value for McCarthy. It's just a lateral move though, as McCarthy has at least proven he can handle MLB hitters.
  3. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 08:50 PM) Give KW a call and tell him you would like the job to shop for a "stud" LF'er, they cant be too hard to find... Well, we could have possibly got one from Tampa for McCarthy and another prospect, but we decided against it. I see that we're trying to stockpile our farm system with starting pitching prospects and power relief arms, but this is something that should have been done after 2007.
  4. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 08:43 PM) So, besides the fact that BMAC started for us at the end of 2005, Ozzie didnt want to start him. And when we had no openings in the rotation this year, Ozzie didnt like him. And when Texas came knocking on our door offering two nice prospects for BMAC, Ozzie decided to pull the trigger? You couldnt possibly be that retarded could you? I hope its an act. Let me ask you this: do you think Ozzie handled McCarthy well in his two years here?
  5. How many more losses did we have in 2005 due to Ozzie not pulling the trigger and finally going to McCarthy over Duque? And you know damn well that the reason there wasn't a rotation spot open in 2006 was because we traded for Vazquez when we could have given the job to McCarthy.
  6. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 08:40 PM) What would make it better then? Acquiring a stud left fielder. As I said around the trade deadline, if you can't upgrade your pitching, then you better upgrade your offense.
  7. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 08:40 PM) You honestly can't be that f***ing dense, can you? What do you disagree with?
  8. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 08:39 PM) Are you even trying to make sense? When did he find every excuse? When did he say he LOVES Vaz and doesnt feel comfortable with BMAC? Kw made the trade, stop blaming Ozzie for everything you dont like. Even when McCarthy was pitching great in 2005, Ozzie still found every excuse to keep Duque in the rotation. Then, whenever one of our starters sucked last year, he'd say things like the infamous "he's not Cy Young". Do you really think that Ozzie doesn't have a say in our transactions? There's been a few times in the past few years where KW mentioned that his coaches told them to go get such and such player.
  9. QUOTE(AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 08:39 PM) Anything less then signing Zito will be a disapointment at this point... That would make this trade even worse.
  10. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 08:34 PM) Yeah, Ozzie pulled the trigger on this deal......get real. Let's see....Ozzie LOVES Vazquez, and hates McCarthy. Ozzie never felt comfortable starting McCarthy, as he found every excuse possible to not start him.
  11. This makes the Vazquez trade even more disasterous, as now we have to trade McCarthy before we could even tell how he'd be as a normal starting pitcher. Why couldn't Ozzie have just retired after winning the WS like he said he would?
  12. QUOTE(Whitewashed in @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 08:27 PM) It would be had he made moves that made sense. Our two best moves this offseason were our two smallest....re-signing MacDougal and bringing in Hall.
  13. QUOTE(Princess Dye @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 08:25 PM) losing Garcia and McCarthy.... isnt the team pretty much the same if we have a decent fifth starter and someone in RH relief that takes to it better than Brandon (not hard) Who in the world is going to be our 5th starter? I hate to break it to people, but none of these guys we've added are close to being a starter in the American League this season.
  14. QUOTE(Whitewashed in @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 08:25 PM) He's been saying were making sure were ready in the future all offseason long. I didn't know he meant we were rebuilding because at this point, there are too many question marks for a team that supposed to be a WS contender. This isn't a WS contender right now. We have huge holes in LF, CF, and the #5 starter.
  15. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 08:23 PM) BTW, IMO the chances of Anderson getting shipped off just went up a ton. Why's that?
  16. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 08:21 PM) Maybe another move is coming, so it will make some more sense, but I just don't get it. As it stands, Hager-Floyd-Danks-Sisco-Gio will be going out for the 5th spot. That's a huge gamble in itself. What happens if Count goes down again? Or a freak injury happens. Isn't that what killed this organization from 01-04? And fixing that is what got us a championship in 05, right? Also, isn't Kenny sort of contradicting himself with some of these moves. I understand Danks Arb clock hasn't even started, but it sounded like the goal of this off-season was to get rid of the expiring contracts so we had a core locked up for while. Doesn't trading Mack go against all of that??? KW needs to keep his mouth shut, because he's been nothing but hypocritical this offseason. We've now made two moves that significantly hurts the 2007 team, which is something he said we'd never do.
  17. QUOTE(daa84 @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 08:20 PM) i really dont get it since mccarthy is cheap and young, but danks is a better prospect than mccarthy was, is younger and is lefthanded, so i understand his addition....i just thought we coulda landed baldelli or someone fo that ilk that can help us now for bmac on another note...the sox sure do love the danks boys, they tried to get the younger brother even though he had a strong commitment to texas when the sox grabbed him in the 18th round or so last year IT'S BECAUSE OZZIE GUILLEN DOES LIKE BRANDON MCCARTHY! I hope he goes to Texas and wins the Cy Young.
  18. So we won't trade McCarthy for Crawford or Rocco, but we'll trade him for two pitching prospects from a terrible organization at developing pitchers? What in the world is KW planning to do with our rotation in 2008?
  19. KW better have some other move in mind to either drastically upgrade our outfield or acquire another starting pitcher.
  20. I hate Ozzie Guillen. What a disasterous trade. I hope everyone that loves prospects is happy.
  21. I was actually told a few days ago that scout.com is a horrific site for baseball, and there so-called "experts" are not to be trusted. With that in mind, this proposed trade of 3 big Toronto chips for Penny is laughable.
  22. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 18, 2006 -> 10:08 PM) Because wells>Rios. I dont ever think Rios will be close to the player that Wells is IMO. Rios showed huge improvements last year, and he's one of the few young guys in the majors who legitimately have five tools. I was very impressed with how the ball jumped off of his bat last year. You're right though, trading a starter away would leave too much of a gaping hole.
  23. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 18, 2006 -> 09:48 PM) Thats not correct, it was rumored they would offer Millege and Heilman for Rios and another top prospect from the Jays. No matter who that other prospect is from Toronto, the Mets package is a hell of a lot more than what some people on here think we could offer for Rios. Once the Wells contract rumors started, there was some talk that Toronto might be interested in Vazquez.
  24. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 18, 2006 -> 09:35 PM) He isnt worth nearly what Wells was worth, and has really only had about 1 half of a good season. I wouldnt expect top packages for him IMO. Then be prepared to be shocked at what the Jays get offered. There's some speculation that the Mets might offer Lastings and Heilman for him. I wouldn't be stunned if we offered Vazquez and a prospect for Rios.
  25. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 18, 2006 -> 08:25 PM) I don't know much either, just saw him do it in ST last year and he played a couple games in OF late this past season. He seems to have some of the skills for it. But I really don't know if he is (or can be) that good. I just think Ozzie and others are pointing him in that general direction. But KW seems to want Terrero to be that guy. Jerry Owens is a well-below average defensive MLB center fielder. From everything I've seen and heard about him, he's not even close to being ready to contribute in the majors offensively or defensively.
