  1. Yikes, he got away with one there. I thought it was gone off the bat. S. Stewart, Chavez, and Crosby scare me against Garland.
  2. G. Pratt's favorite player homered.
  3. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 02:24 AM) Walking a guy with a 0-2 count is just unexplainable... It happens when you don't have a strike out pitch and you start nibbling.
  4. Garland looks like he still has the dead arm. Need a grounder from Piazza.
  5. The gun is accurate, if not too high so far tonight. Garland's pitching around 87 mph.
  6. And just like that, Erstad is under .300. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 02:09 AM) Crap. C.B Bucknor is behind the plate. Terrible umpire, and something bad always happens with him behind home. Ozzie was arguing that Pods should have walked due to Gaudin going to his mouth. PK's been waving at that 2 strike offspeed pitch. He's too mechanical at the plate....needs to relax a little.
  7. QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 08:14 PM) Outside of Scotty Pods, who really does in this organization? We seem to pretend to be all about the small ball but last time I checked, we didn't win yesterday's game with ducksnorts and suicide squeezes. Actually, we were 1-4 in bunting yesterday.
  8. After hearing DJ repeat last night numerous times that Contreras seems like he has something bothering him, this rumor sounds very legit. It was almost as if DJ was trying to tell us there was a reason behind the way Contreras looked, but that he couldn't tell us publicly what it was.
  9. QUOTE(iamshack @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 04:36 PM) As much as Podsednik's defensive prowess has been mocked around here, I truly believe he has been better since the later part of last season defensively. I worry more about JD out there in right than I do about Scottie in left. For whatever reason, no one mentions how terrible-looking Dye is out there though... Dye was horrible defensively last year, but his bat made up for it. Pods looks more confident in the field, and him and Erstad did a great job on their jumps last night.
  10. Eduardo Perez would help out this team a lot more than Anderson would right now.
  11. He has a very good slider. Lefties historically mash him around the park, while righties struggle. Tonight would be a good night to get Mackowiak into the lineup for Dye. He can be wild, but he keeps the ball in the park.
  12. Great win! Very solid defense I thought, and Pods/Thome led the way on offense.
  13. QUOTE(Wedge @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 04:41 AM) The downside is that a few of these guys could/should be in our rotation in the future. Masset for sure, but Sisco could be really good as a starter, too. Personally, I'd rather keep Sisco in the pen. He has a long, long way to go to be efficient enough with his control where he can be a starter. I also think Masset might be better off as a set-up man, but it's hard to tell with him.
  14. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 04:40 AM) The control was the issue for me to. I just had images of Sisco-Aardsma-Masset coming in being wild, not being able to find the zone at all, and we really haven't seen it yet. We will, there is no question it will happen, but so far, all these guys have done what Ozzie has asked, and each one of them has gotten big outs for this club already. It's just very refreshing to see, and whats even better is that we know these guys are still young, and have room to improve. It's all about getting ahead in the count for nearly every one of our relievers. MacDougal seems like it's very hard to get the ball in the air against him. Sisco still worries me, but as long as he's around the zone, people will chase his wild stuff (like Cirillo on Saturday). Hopefully we didn't jinx Jenks, and he can make this a Sox winner.
  15. On the bright side, at least Razor held up Thome.
  16. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 04:20 AM) Podsednik NEEDS to swing more often. Just put the ball in play. He doesn't have a poor swing or anything. Obviously, the biggest complaint we've had about him is his 49 called third strikes last year. I couldn't agree with you more though....when he's aggressive at the plate, he's a much better hitter. He gets in trouble sometimes when he tries to be crafty at the plate. He doesn't have the Ichiro/Pierre like slap ability.
  17. QUOTE(Felix @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 04:20 AM) Thome answers his "clutch critics" It's the 9th inning Thome that I have a problem with. He has a lot of big hits in the 7th/8th inning last year
  18. Yes sir! Piazza has never been afraid to hit into a double play.
  19. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 04:20 AM) You're not having a good prediction night. True...but at least I can point out he was making quite the effort to go to LF.
  20. Ugh...here we go. Some very good and very bad baserunning in top of 8th. I love how PK took 3rd on that single up the middle. However, we make way too many outs on the bases in that same situation that ended the 8th.
  21. Thome's only chance to hit this guy is to drive it to LF.
  22. Um, where was that pitch?
