So the fans were whining about this in the offseason?
QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 8, 2007 -> 02:07 PM) How about the fact that he is NOT healthy and has a horrid ERA for the NL? He looks healthier right now than he did last year. Heck, I even saw his fastball reach 91 mph on ESPN last week. If he's considered to not be healthy, then Contreras can't be considered healthy either. Garcia's K rate is vastly improved this year, but that might be due to the NL hitters not seeing him before. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ May 8, 2007 -> 01:49 PM) The 6 IP, 2 ER outing last night was his best so far. He has been throwing 89-92 pretty consistently this year, when I've watched him. He's picked it up a little more than I thought he would, but his stats should be better with his stuff in the NL. That we have Gonzalez and Floyd is better than waiting 2-3 more years for compensation picks to develop. Also, does anyone think the Freddy would be a disaster these last 2-3 weeks with our offense? He'd be pointing fingers...saying he did enough to get the win....that he's only motivated by big games. At any rate, I wouldn't want to pair Garcia's attitude problems with our anemic offense. It's a bad recipe. The way he has pitched, he would have the same record as Danks but 10X more clubhouse issues. And the Angels would have recorded 5-6 steals against him in one game. I think we all wanted him traded. However, the rationale that some people used around here that we won that trade based solely on the fact that Garcia was too injured to ever start again in the majors has been proven wrong.

The fact Garcia is healthy right now and not giving up 10 runs every start justifies the whining on that awful trade.

Hall way ahead of schedule...
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 7, 2007 -> 09:09 PM) mental issues = groin injuries make him unable to run? Lack of confidence in his jumps and tentative running in the outfield.

Hall way ahead of schedule...
QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 7, 2007 -> 08:55 PM) Ozzie also just said that if PODS comes back he is batting at the bottom of the order. Why not play sweeney who is a superior defender, and a good bottom of the order hitter instead? I don't think the Sox anticipate Pods being 100 pct healthy again this season. They know he has mental issues dealing with injuries.

Clemens back to the Yankees
Wasn't Clemens facing the Sox in that game with the infamous Foulke blow-up/Giambi bomb?

2007 MLB Catch-All Thread
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 7, 2007 -> 05:41 AM) Linnecum has some serious flaws to his delivery that I think are going to lead to some nasty injuries in his career. He does have some semblance to Oswalt and his stuff though (but I think for every Oswalt there are a lot more guys that end up having arm problems). Oswalt is great because he has fantastic control of his fastball to all four quadrants. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 7, 2007 -> 05:45 AM) Brewers win again, the buzzsaw the the north ain't going away. And Francisco Cordero still has yet to allow a single run all year. Prince Fielder is quickly becoming one of the most exciting hitters to watch bat in the majors.

Possible Crede suitor?
Please no Chone. I couldn't handle the compliments all season from Hawk about him.

2007 MLB Catch-All Thread
QUOTE(Brian @ May 7, 2007 -> 03:18 AM) Only saw some of Lincecum. You can tell by his arsenal and make up that he could be very good. Typical first major league start jitters with all the walks. I think his next start will show what he can be. Giants should make him into a closer sooner, rather than later. His stuff deteriorated quickly after the first inning.

Possible theory about BA/Guillen feud
This road trip would have had to have happened last year, as Ozzie didn't really care for Anderson coming into the season.
-
Possible Crede suitor?
Lowry's not exactly a spring chicken, he's going to be getting to his FA years soon, and he'd be going from one of the best pitcher's park to one of the worst. I'd want to get something a little younger and with a higher ceiling for Crede.

White Sox vs. Angels, 5/6/07 (W)
Rowand playing some terrible defense in tonight's game.

White Sox vs. Angels, 5/6/07 (W)
QUOTE(striker62704 @ May 6, 2007 -> 10:50 PM) He turned his head and waited like 2 seconds for the ball to hit the wall. He could have caught it. Rowand would have. Might as well send him to Afghanistan, because Rowand could catch OBL then.

QUOTE(striker62704 @ May 6, 2007 -> 10:42 PM) I think Sweeney could have caught that ball that Quinlan off the wall. He just didn't get back quick enough. Sweeney did a great job of playing that ball off of the fence. We almost had a chance on Vlad at home. There's not a chance in hell anyone catches that rocket off of Quinlan's bat.

White Sox vs. Angels, 5/6/07 (W)
Wow, it's been a long time since he gassed someone like that.

White Sox vs. Angels, 5/6/07 (W)
Outfield needs to play shallow enough to have a chance on Napoli at the plate.

White Sox vs. Angels, 5/6/07 (W)
So...is Jenks ever going to get his fastball back? He seems to have leveled out at 94 mph.
-
White Sox vs. Angels, 5/6/07 (W)
Jenks is a little short on his fastball also today.
-
White Sox vs. Angels, 5/6/07 (W)
If Jenks can grab two strikes without throwing that hook, hitters have no chance.

QUOTE(caulfield12 @ May 6, 2007 -> 10:24 PM) Bottom of their line-up. Let's just get out of there and get on that plane with some good feelings about this team. Please? We'll see Matthews Jr.

Is Mackowiak injured? Seems weird we didn't let him hit for Ozuna there. Oh well....it's Jenks game now.

Great, level swing by Sweeney.

White Sox vs. Angels, 5/6/07 (W)
Cintron's taken over Erstad's job of grounding out to the right side.
-
White Sox vs. Angels, 5/6/07 (W)
Something new and original from Crede. Line drive swings are overrated.

White Sox vs. Angels, 5/6/07 (W)
Maybe Sweeney can hit another into the sun this inning.
