QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Apr 8, 2007 -> 08:39 PM) Cardinals- 0, White Sox- 1. Only hit? Thome bomb in the 8th. Seriously you guys, lay off Thome. Jesus f***ing christ, you people are so forgetful. God damn it, close, just under it. Wasn't in the 8th inning.

I can't believe AJP rolled over on a pitch. Please get healthy Toby.

Got a massive hanger there. Thome and Dye look horrendous.

Thome is a pathetic 9th inning hitter.

Lots of slider-speed bat speed going on right now.

QUOTE(Capn12 @ Apr 8, 2007 -> 07:54 PM) There is no logic whatsoever in keeping BA on the team, never letting him play, instead of starting him in AAA and keeping Perez when it was painfully obvious our hitting vs. LHP was absolute s***. At least there's not a lot of LHP in our division.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Apr 8, 2007 -> 07:47 PM) Another embarrassing performance against Santana. Anyone else realize in the last two starts against lefties (Sowers and Santana) we have only 2 hits? That's pathetic. We didn't exactly smack Silva around either.

Thome with some post 2006 ASB bat speed. Somewhere, Eduardo Perez is waiting for a call.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 8, 2007 -> 07:34 PM) Wouldn't it be embarrassing to get owned this badly over and over again? I wonder if we'll be the worst hitting team against LHP this year. When you face Santana and C.C. 12 times a year, it's very possible.

I think our AA team would have a better chance hitting Santana than these guys do. Someone might want to tell Uribe that he throws a changeup.

QUOTE(klaus kinski @ Apr 8, 2007 -> 07:32 PM) Yes, this is a confidence builder for Danks-pretty good for a first start. We definatly need a better book on this Cudd Year. We never get him out You have to get Cuddyer up and in. We always throw him soft s*** on the outside, and he pokes it up the middle.

FWIW, Wade Miller looked horrible for the Cubs.

Good stuff by Danks. His fastball's been crisper than I expected. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Apr 8, 2007 -> 07:29 PM) I just realized gameday shows the speed of the pitches now. f***ing awesome. They're not accurate at all.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Apr 8, 2007 -> 07:27 PM) How many one-hitters does Santana usually throw in a season against every other team in baseball? He must honestly do it three times a year to the Sox. I seriously mean that. And to think some people gave me a hard time because I guaranteed the Twins wouldn't skip him this weekend after the game was called.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Apr 8, 2007 -> 07:24 PM) Well, at least they worked the count... We always try to work the count vs Santana, and it doesn't work. Even if he'll walk a few guys, you still have to be aggressive and get some hits against him. We're just not getting a lot of hits right now. Thankfully we won our last two games.

Crede has hit uppercut swing going. Danks next start will be against Cleveland....duck!

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Apr 8, 2007 -> 07:20 PM) Damn, he was cruising till then. But we all knew it was coming. An 91 MPH fastball won't cut it. His fastball is fine. I don't think his offspeed stuff is major league level yet.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 8, 2007 -> 07:20 PM) Not against Johan...I have zero problem moving guys into scoring position when a guy gets on just for the sheer hope you can put together another hit and get a run someway/somehow. Santana doesn't count any in rule of managing. Someone should have flooded the field today so it was postponed. I've said this for 4 years now, but Santana is the only pitcher we face who I expect to beat us.

White Sox vs. Twins, 4/8/07 (L)
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 8, 2007 -> 07:17 PM) Its not like he didn't do the same when the Sox won the world series. Who gives a s***, you just take try to pick up a win against him or hold it tight till it gets to the pen once or twice this season. The Sox see him too much and Johan is flat in these guys heads. The club has almost no shot against him. We have to find a way to not get dominated by the likes of Santana, C.C., etc. again this year. Rogers is out for a long time, so there goes part of the trifecta that we didn't beat more than once all of last year.

QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Apr 8, 2007 -> 07:18 PM) I meant to ask you this the other day, do you have a 2nd rule of managing? I would love to say that you should never bunt prior to the 7th inning when your team has 200 homer potential.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 8, 2007 -> 07:16 PM) I have a question. Why the f*** was Anderson not in to play CF in the 9th yesterday? Why have him on the team if you aren't gonna use him as a defensive replacement at the very least. I would have rather Anderson been in the minors if he was going to be used the way he is, and Perez makes the team. I wonder if Thome will hit over .150 vs LHP this year?

White Sox vs. Twins, 4/8/07 (L)
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 8, 2007 -> 07:16 PM) Who cares. As much as I hate to say it this game wasn't about getting the win, its about letting Danks get out there have some success and obviously he'll have some trouble and after the game Coop and AJ will sit down with him and help teach him some things and continue to work on his approach. The kid was making his debut against the best pitcher in baseball. Yeah, I actually think AJP didn't help him out much this inning with the pitch selection to Mauer/Cuddyer with two strikes. Obviously, Danks has to fine-tune his control. However, his stuff seems to be decent. I'd say it's 60/40 that he can be on the team this full season.
