  1. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 03:52 AM) WHAT A f***IN rip off!!!!!! Pathetic. I hope you Garcia haters are happy now. Well, if Garcia was better, then maybe he would have brought us back better players?
  2. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 03:50 AM) Im one of the biggest Kenny fanboys, and even I can say Williams looks awful right now. Didn't he say he wouldn't make any moves that wouldn't make us better in 2007? This isn't the time for the Sox to be going about things like a middle market team. There's too much at risk with the momentum in the city we've established.
  3. QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 03:45 AM) How does a .262 average in 2006 and a career .279 hitter make this trade go from crap to , "I'm really liking it"? Cause at least we'd be getting a 4th outfielder that could help against LHP. This is a disasterous trade...Gavin Floyd stinks. I would have rather we keep Garcia and then risk losing him after this season.
  4. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 03:43 AM) What the f*** is the point of trading for guys that we already had? KW was supposed to rape some team this year, not bring back former players. I can't wait until we bring back Sandy this week.
  5. No shock...rotoworld hates the trade. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 03:43 AM) I wasnt crazy about millege anyway. I'd take him over the two guys we got in a heartbeat.
  6. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 03:41 AM) I'm not terribly dissappointed with this deal. If either of these guys ever figure it out, they're going to be real good. Gotta harness some control, we're getting twelve years of these two + $10 million for one year of Freddy. It's a letdown from the Pelfrey/Milledge rumors, but I don't find it that terrible... Pelfrey was never on the table.
  7. QUOTE(daa84 @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 03:35 AM) a few things.....this saves us 10 million, and floyd and gio become our #1 and #2 pitching prospects, but i think we coulda more...like a major league ready reliever....but to me this trade reeks of more trades to come....williams acquiring young pitching to trade for other parts Gavin Floyd is 23 years old and is no longer considered a top prospect.
  8. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 03:36 AM) So it's basically Gio being substituted for Rowand. I don't really see how this makes a lot of sense UNLESS, these 2 are then flipped to the D-Rays for say Carl Crawford or Rocco Baldelli. It's nice to have Gio back in the organization though for the moment because I rate him highly. Tampa wanted McCarthy for Rocco, and they're not trading Crawford.
  9. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 03:35 AM) This is just one deal we couldn't afford to f*** up, no matter which starter we dealt we needed a great return. f*** me. Please wake me up when one thing positive happens this offseason. The only bright spot I can see is that jphat and I can't argue anymore about Garcia intentionally throwing a high curve.
  10. Quick scouting report on Floyd: On a good day, Floyd has a 94 mph fastball and a hard-breaking, 12-to-6 curveball. On a bad day, he tightens up and loses velocity on his fastball and bite on his curveball
  11. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 03:34 AM) I think the market wasnt there or something, cause this deal is bulls*** IMO. There better be someone else involved. There isn't...it's a 2 for 1 trade.
  12. The good news is that Tampa won't trade Crawford this offseason.
  13. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 03:32 AM) Come on, this can't be all there is to it. This should be a wake up call to some of the ridiculous trades that have been suggested on here.
  14. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 03:31 AM) Man how the f*** is this all we get, EVERYONE NEEDS PITCHING DAMNIT Cause this offseason is a f***ing disaster. If KW doesn't have another move in mind, he deserves to be heavily criticized.
  15. Well, thanks for the memories Freddy. I only hope your 88 mph is still in style next year.
  16. Floyd's stuff is nowhere near what is used to be, and he has attitude issues. He's given up 73 runs in his last 80 MLB innings pitched.
  17. ESPN just confirmed the trade. What a freaking joke.
  18. QUOTE(sircaffey @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 03:28 AM) Division losing trade...
  19. Wow, there's no way it can be straight up. If so, what a disaster.
  20. If the Red Sox get Penny, I hope their team doctor is ready for all the MRIs that their starters will need next season.
  21. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 05:53 PM) I agree, on that list we dont really have a long reliever, and it is very essential to have that piece. I don't worry about the long reliever position too much due to Ozzie's use of our starters. No matter how bad they're doing, our starters will always go 6 innings.
  22. QUOTE(SpringfieldFan @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 05:32 PM) I have looked at the 2005 team and considered how it accomplished what the all-star Yankee team could not. That difference is hard to describe but to illustrate it by example I would point to Rowand. However, on additional consideration, I can't deny the difference was quite likely Mark, Jon, Freddy, and Jose. Still, I like Aaron and would take him back for a fair price. SFF The American League is so much stronger now than it was in 2005 though. We need to keep improving, because the powerhouse teams in the AL are getting stronger also.
  23. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 05:28 PM) I'm not saying Hirsch isn't a top prospect. He's the Astros' top prospect but there are other teams that are better matches. I am not trading Freddy unless we get some special prospects because I think he's going to have a hell of a season next year. On the other hand, if 88 mph Garcia shows up again, we just robbed the Astros of their best prospect. I honestly believe that KW is looking to acquire a young starting pitcher so that he can trade McCarthy also.
