  1. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 07:21 PM) Is it out of the realm of possibility to think about the Sox making a pitching acquisition at some point this season? Or are we in the same "we've got to win with what we've got" mode that we were stubbornly in last year. Not that I know of anyone that would be available, but we're going to have to upgrade here if this team wants to contend this season and beyond. Nah, we'll give Floyd and Haeger a chance first.
  2. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 07:16 PM) I wonder how many runs Cleveland is gonna score this year? I wonder if they can make it to 1000 They made some great acquisitions for their offense this offseason w/o having to spend a lot of money. Nixon was someone I was hoping we'd look at to play LF.
  3. This Indians offense is going to destroy our crappy starters this year.
  4. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 07:11 PM) Fun stat: Podsednik struck out 96 times last year, 49 of those K's were looking. That's over 50% of the time. It's incredibly hard to find players who even top 30%. Aren't "speed/slap" hitters supposed to be good contact hitters who make sure they put the ball in play?
  5. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 07:10 PM) another high changeup I wish we'd just tell Garland to never throw a changeup again. It seems like he keeps it up at least 50 pct of the time.
  6. I wonder if we're going to lead the world in called third strikes again this year? At least Pods truly is the catalyst.
  7. I missed you P-o-d-s
  8. If you can't hold down the bottom of the order guys like Peralta and Marte, good luck holding this Indians team to below 6 runs in a game.
  9. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 06:40 PM) I don't think it has as much to do with "dead arms" as it has to do with "I can't throw quality strikes or have any control so I have to throw down the heart of the plate and get rocked"-itis. Lack of stuff you think? Like we mentioned, Garland is saying the same things to start this year as he did last year at the beginning. I think we all know how well that started.
  10. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 06:37 PM) I give him as much credit as in 2005...not much. Ultimately it's the pitchers that have to perform. If as many pitchers underpeform this year as they did last year, then he needs to be fired. It's amazing that he honestly believes that it doesn't matter how his guys throw....as long as the team wins, there should be no complaining about high ERAs.
  11. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 06:37 PM) This team is _______. my choice: disgusting. There's pessmistic....and then there's just idiotic.
  12. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 06:33 PM) Our pitching is _________ . one year wonder
  13. You could see this type of crappy pitching brewing all Spring Training. What in the world is our strength and conditioning coach doing over the offseason to have so many people with "dead arms"?
  14. BTW....a little early for Ozzie to be starting this crap right now. This is going to be a long season.
  15. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 12:28 AM) Why do you say that? I pray you are right Just some behind the scenes stuff I've heard for years now. I truly believe if the Sox didn't make the playoffs in 2005, KW was gone.
  16. QUOTE(rowandrules83 @ Apr 3, 2007 -> 11:47 PM) This kinda touches on another point. If the sox were to fire Ozzie, who would replace him? If you look at the managerial history of this franchise, I don't know if I would necessarily trust them to hire a competent replacement. Steve Stone will have a big time position with the Sox within 2 years.
  17. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 3, 2007 -> 03:55 AM) Yes. Noah is the biggest douche I've ever seen in college hoops, so he alone makes me hate them. Green might come back, but the rest of them are gone though. Green's gone with them. That team will be led by Hodge and Speights under the guidance of Anthony Grant.
  18. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 3, 2007 -> 03:50 AM) Ohio State is a lock to win it all within the next 4 to 6 years anyways with the people Matta brings in. As for Florida, the only 2 teams that could have beat them in this tournament were Ohio State on a 50/50 night shooting 3's (which they couldn't do tonight) or North Carolina. However, North Carolina was to this year what UConn was to last (most talented team in the land, but didn't care about defense or general focus) and thus collapsed against the Hoyas. The teams that fared the best against Florida when I watched this year were the teams that could spread the court and hit the three pointer. Tennessee and Vandy were those types of teams.
  19. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 3, 2007 -> 03:47 AM) I can only think of that team to really find a team that could beat them. They are one of the best teams, and athletic depts ever right now. Ridic. If Oden stays, I feel like we can be back, if he leaves, I think we can be back. All in all, 5 losses for my two teams this year, 2 of them to Fla. I can't see anyway that Mike Conley Sr. allows Oden to return. Chad Ford seems certain that all three of the Ohio St. guys will go pro, and Oden/Conley will be Conley Sr.'s first two clients.
  20. I blame James Brown for this s***ty tourney.
  21. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 3, 2007 -> 03:43 AM) Duke 1992 If Fla shoots 10-18 from 3 point though, there isnt many teams that can beat them. If we have to go back 15 years to find a team that can beat them, then they're pretty damn good. Congrats on a great season though Rock. If you're going to have Oden for one year, at least it was a memorable season. A lot better than if he was one-and-done, and they lost to Tennessee.
  22. No one was going to beat Florida with how they played in the 2nd half tonight. I would love to see this Florida squad play the UCONN squad from 2004.
  23. All in all, a pretty boring tournament.
  24. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 3, 2007 -> 03:06 AM) Brewer and Hump never seem to miss. Brewer is going to be one hell of a player at the next level. With that size and range, he can be VERY effective in the NBA game. I just hope he can stay motivated. He sucked at points this year when he was just going through the motions.
  25. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 1, 2007 -> 01:06 PM) I'm just talking about all the AAU teams they've been on, winning the state championship all four years in HS, and here they are in the championship game during their frosh year at OSU. Also, as it was said elsewhere, I like Conley more than Oden. I think Conley's going to be really solid when he goes to the next level; however, unless Oden breaks out of his shell a bit more, he's going to be another Yao Ming. Good, but not great. I'd say Yao Ming could be considered a great player. He's averaging 25 and 10 this year, while shooting an insane percentage from the FT line for a center.
