  1. Catalanotto also seems to get hurt quite frequently. Considering how many tough lefties we have to face in our division, it makes no sense to bring him in unless you have another player who can platoon with him.
  2. Do we teach our players to not protect at the plate? Both Fields and Sweeney have looked like statues today watching the called 3rd strike.
  3. I have no problem with how he managed today. If the Tigers are pissed if the Twins end up winning the division, then they should have just beat the f***ing Royals.
  4. Great...we're trading our best infield prospect in years for a reliever who had a 3.62 ERA at the best pitcher's park in baseball.
  5. Vazquez on his way to capping off his disappointing season. Also, is anyone else disturbed that Anderson looks as the bad at the plate right now as he did to start the year? I know he improved for a few months, but he's given Ozzie no reason lately for him to favor him going into next season. Anderson has no one to blame but himself if KW goes out and acquires a new CF this offseason.
  6. QUOTE(max power @ Oct 1, 2006 -> 04:49 PM) Frank Catalanotto looks like the best option above, imo. Except he can't hit lefties, so we'd have to find another righty back-up outfielder. We better not be seeing Ozuna in the outfield again next year on a platoon basis.
  7. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Oct 1, 2006 -> 12:43 AM) This lineup already has dangerous hitters, it needs more consistancy. A consistant hitter is better than some guy who's going to have a crazy 3 weeks of the season. Also AGon > Uribe defensively. Uribe only has the arm and he gets very wild with it. Outside of about 5 throws this year, Uribe has had the most accurate arm of any player I've seen in baseball over the past 3 years. He went through a little slump for about 3 weeks in the field, but he was fine after that.
  8. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Oct 1, 2006 -> 06:21 AM) Brian Roberts Not anymore
  9. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 30, 2006 -> 11:24 PM) Look at his lines the last two years. 2006 was not a fluke. Im not saying Emil Brown is the answer, but he could be guy to fall back on that isnt a bad hitter, at all. He was a guy who I was thinking we should try and get at the deadline this year, as he could help us against LHP in LF. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Oct 1, 2006 -> 12:00 AM) A Gon is defiantely more consistant than Uribe, both offensively and defensively Uribe is much more dangerous on offense though...and doesn't have the attitude issues that AGon has.
  10. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Sep 30, 2006 -> 11:53 PM) Podsednik or Pierre. I think I'm going to say Podsednik though. Don't listen to what you read in the press....there's a zero percent chance that Podsednik is brought back. My answer to this question would be either Juan Pierre or C. Crisp.
  11. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 30, 2006 -> 07:55 PM) But, there's also a situtation arising in New York, where Milledge is being "outted" by some of his teammates. I'd love to see Kenny swoop in and (a semi pipe dream) tag Milledge along with a pitching prospect for Garcia. I haven't heard of this...what's going on?
  12. Personally, I don't think Anderson will be starting in CF next year. The key for Sweeney, in my opinion, is to get stronger. Right now, the ball doesn't fly off of his bat like you need it to in order to drive the ball.
  13. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 30, 2006 -> 05:58 PM) I was sort of expecting some Borchard AB's by Josh in his time up with us. I have been pleasantly suprised with the plate disipline he has shown. The only game he's looked real bad in is against C.C.
  14. QUOTE(beck72 @ Sep 30, 2006 -> 05:11 PM) KW is the one who needs to get with the program and get a few more guys who can get on base for the big boppers. Super....does this mean we can make more trades like Carlos Lee for Pods? Maybe we can trade Thome for Joey Gathright, or Konerko for Kenny Lofton. The "big boopers" on our team were great this year. It's just that guys like Pods, Anderson, etc., sucked, and they were supposed to be our smallball guys.
  15. After watching the first 3 innings, I came to this conclusion: boy, did our starting LF and CF suck this year. In a game where we're playing basically our entire bench, Pods and Anderson are the worst players in our lineup.
  16. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Sep 30, 2006 -> 03:24 AM) Yes, that proves absolutely everything. Yeah, pitching s***ty for 2/3 of the season puts him in the upper echelon.
  17. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Sep 29, 2006 -> 07:54 AM) I hope this post is not serious, because it's not like non-medical steroid use is against the law or anything. When these guys start dropping dead at the age of 45 from steroid-related heart attacks, then people will finally see why MLB is trying to clean up the sport. All you have to do is check out a wrestling website every month, and it seems there's another guy in the 40-50 year old range dropping dead.
  18. If Owens is starting next year, we're in trouble. Garcia looks great again...he's making it tough on KW and Ozzie to trade him. At least his value is going to be sky high if we do get rid of him.
  19. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Sep 29, 2006 -> 10:57 PM) 1984 WS rematch: Padres v. Tigers. MLB and Fox might kill themselves.
  20. We're playing all the starters but Anderson and Iguchi tonight. Owens is in CF, and Cintron at 2B. I can't believe that Ozzie is still finding ways to not play Anderson out there.
  21. I'm probably the only person who feels this way, but I'd like to see a Yankees vs Mets WS, with the Mets winning it all.
  22. QUOTE(marsh @ Sep 29, 2006 -> 05:34 PM) Wouldn't mind seeing Freel in left and Lugo at ss batting 1 & 2. Not sure how realistic it is. We'd really be improving the character of the team.
  23. QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Sep 28, 2006 -> 09:06 PM) Cardinals would love Buehrle. Dave Duncan believes he can fix what ails him. They don't have a lefty because Mulder is out the door. And they know Buehrle wants to be a Cardinal. Problem is, Cardinals don't have jack to offer. Reyes? He's had health issues. Wainright? Please Eckstein? Maybe if he's packaged with several others. You don't want Wainwright, who is a very good young pitcher. However, you're interested in Eckstein? Doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
  24. QUOTE(WHITESOXRANDY @ Sep 28, 2006 -> 06:19 PM) Think about how much better our pitching would have been this year if we had Soriano. Yeah...since it's not like having his bat during the 2nd half of the year might have sparked an offense that hit the wall with about 40 games left in the season. If we would have acquired Soriano at the deadline, I honestly believe that we make the playoffs. Our pitching stunk for about 80 pct of this season, but they pitched well enough down the stretch (starters) that we could have stayed with the Twins/Tigers.
  25. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Sep 28, 2006 -> 06:11 PM) Why do people want to trade Buehrle? One bad year? In which he had an extended season? C'mon people... He's 27. He's an innings-eater. He's a lefty. He pitches fast. He pitches to contact. He's had ONE SO-SO year. Shoot, even Randy Johnson had and ERA of 5 this year. Mark will bounce back just like the rest of the Sox. Edited. Because he's about to be in line for a huge raise with many years included in the deal.
