  1. QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 05:34 AM) thats true, but I don't necessarily think its because of lack of offensive approach that was infuriating me earlier in the year, its more of the fact that we just haven't been able to come up with hits (and keep in mind we've been facing good pitchers anyways) We're facing good teams....you're going to face good pitchers. We had a 3 week stretch where we faced mediocre pitchers, and our offense crapped the bed.
  2. QUOTE(Friend of Nordhagen @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 05:33 AM) By the way, Ronge just reacted with shock when a caller suggested that MacD was hurt. He thinks going with Hermanson was a good move. I now have to get back to the planet Earth. Can we put him on the same one-way train as Pods and Cora?
  3. If you're going to blame anyone on that play, AJP is guilty of not hustling out of the box. If he gets to 2nd (no excuse not to), Crede gets intentionally walked, and then Mackowiak is up with the bases loaded with 1 out. Plain and simple, this team didn't hustle tonight. Ozzie should be ashamed for letting some of the same players get away with not busting their ass on the field.
  4. QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 05:31 AM) Far too often this season, they have been playing like they've dropped dead. This includes play in the stretch run of a pennant race. How could they be so down? I don't know, but they sure have been. No offense to the poster you're quoting, but when is it time to consider that each individual loss puts us too far out of reach? QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 05:31 AM) What, exactly, would you call their stellar play over the last two months? Typical White Sox 2nd half baseball
  5. QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 05:29 AM) man the pessimism is driving me nuts around here, I know things don't look good but the season is not over it might be much harder to make the playoffs than we had hoped, but its not like we've dropped dead I think if we can hang even with detroit until next week and sweep them then we have a damn good chance at making the playoffs the recent play has been looking up, it just has not translated to wins tonights game was not as disgustingly bad as people are making it out to be. K-Rod has not allowed a run in 3 months and people are mad we blew an opportunity to score off of him? And besides that inning we only blew 1 other opportunity (less than the angels did); we had some hard hit balls that got caught, the Angels played some good defense and ended up with the win so yes it sucked, but the season isn't over We've now scored in 3 innings out of our last 33 innings or so.
  6. Can we see Fields at DH tomorrow, and give Thome a day off?
  7. QUOTE(Whitewashed in @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 05:25 AM) But they don't have anything besides 2 starters. I thought they were done? They have like 6 good relievers in their pen....not exactly like our 2 reliable guys now (might be 1 by the time the paper comes out tomorrow).
  8. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 05:23 AM) At least I still have the Redskins....oh, wait.... Is it basketball season yet? Who do you have then.....Singletary and J.R. Reynolds?
  9. QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 05:23 AM) Those two guys are reasons that I'm not entirely optimistic about his team's future. Both of them are old players and could go down with major injuries at any time. Plus, skills tend to diminish at their ages. Bonderman, A. Miller, Zumaya, Santana, Liriano, Garza, Sabathia, and Sowers. Those guys worry me about our team's future. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 05:24 AM) There isn't a chance in hell that Im going to stop rooting for this, or stop watching. And im sure this team will give us all another big tease, and 10 other idiots will do the same dumb ass thing im doing now. Its just beyond frustrating, and I guess tonight was my breaking point. The disappointing thing to me was just to see Gload's hustle on his double....and how we don't see that from our core players. I made the comment that we need more Pablo in extra innings. I think I'd rather see Gload and Pablo bat in extra innings than Thome and PK.
  10. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 05:20 AM) Definitely not over, but logistically doesn't look very good. Schedule favors the Tigers and Twins bigtime. Twins will run away with it though with Liriano back. I think we have to go 2-2 over the next 4 and then sweep the Tigers and hope KC plays against them like they do against us. The Twins have given us no reason to think they won't keep playing excellent baseball.
  11. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 05:21 AM) Its over. Im sick of seeing myself care more about these games then our manager and our hitters. Its disgusting. This team isnt just going to turn "it" on. "It" left a while ago, and there is no reason to think "IT" is coming back. Well...if you think we won't make it, then root for more games where Pods disgraces himself, just to make sure he doesn't come back next year. Also, I'll say a prayer that Ozzie goes off in the media again, and Garcia tells off his teammates again. Real quick...please don't close this thread mods. It's very civil, and it's easier to keep the conversation going.
  12. QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 05:20 AM) I guess I'd root for Maggs also. Tigers and A's. Maybe it's me, but I don't want to see Ordonez or Thomas win the WS if they're not on the White Sox. It would be like rooting for my fiance to marry a millionaire if we ever divorce.
  13. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 05:19 AM) White Sox pitchers have spent very little time on the DL the last couple of years. The Sox are due for that to start evening up I'm afraid. Oh ya...I still worry that Contreras or Thome will have major offseason surgery.
  14. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 05:19 AM) I'd root for the Tigers over the Twins. I despise the Twins. I don't want the Tigers to win though cause I don't think they are all that good. plus I don't want to hear it from their fans. I guess it would be 1. NL team 2. Oakland 3. Yanks 4. Tigers 5. Never Minny EVER I'd root for the Tigers....but I'm sure my fiance will get sick of me saying "I struck out that guy", whenever Granderson comes to the plate. Of course, it won't be so special when the stat shows he struckout the most in the AL this year.
  15. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 05:17 AM) Not sure if watching Figgins get the base hit did it for me, but who knows. Its over. 1st time I have said it this season. Its over. Nope...it's not over until Mr. Pessimism says so. Wait until after our Tigers series next week....that's when we'll know.
  16. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 05:17 AM) Well I'd love to root for the NL but there is no way any team over there can beat any AL team in 7 games. I'd actually really like to watch a Yankees/Mets WS. The intensity of that series would be a lot more fun to watch than an A's/Cardinals series.
  17. I beg the Sox management that if we get mathematically eliminated, please shut down our 5 starters and Jenks, MacDougal, and Thornton.
  18. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 05:16 AM) Fire Ozzie, Fire Greg, and have cora keep them both company. And please let them take Pods and Garcia with them.
  19. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 05:15 AM) Holy hell who am I gonna root for in the postseason. Whoever the NL WC is, as long as it's not the Padres
  20. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 05:15 AM) Probably sporting a Pod's jersey I'll have to steal it from some 13 year old fat girl.
  21. If I'm a true Sox fan, I'd try to jump off the cliff, but I wouldn't make it cause I'd slow up before I got to the ledge.
  22. QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 05:12 AM) Somebody needs to put us out of our misery. Don't worry...Oakland can easily do that.
  23. QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 05:11 AM) What was his velocity like? 93-94. He also has no curveball left.
  24. QUOTE(MHizzle85 @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 05:11 AM) wow, you ever say anything positive? Sure...only 16 games left until Pods is gone.
