  1. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 03:59 AM) Thats something you will never see with our team. We never battle with 2 strikes. Its either dong or death with 2 strikes. At least our offense has made games become quick lately.
  2. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 03:57 AM) It is an interesting topic regardless. Yeah, and I don't mean to accuse KW of messing up this team. Personally, I think he improved the team during the offseason. However, some of our luck from last year is gone, and a bigger KW mistake was not improving our LF play at the deadline and his lack of a 4th outfielder who could play LF and CF.
  3. QUOTE(S720 @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 03:52 AM) You know what guys? Please let me know where I can find the magic that we had in 2005? It just seems that the magic we had last year is gradually fading away! Come on White Sox! Bring back the magic. I hate this cliche, but we just don't have the fire that they had for a long stretch last season. I'm simply stunned by the lack of intensity this team has coming down the stretch.
  4. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 03:51 AM) If it's close, then it's a win for Thomas. Keeping him would cost less, require to lose less talent, etc. Someone asked me this question the other day, and I wasn't sure what the answer would be: would the Sox have been better this year if they would have basically kept last year's team in tact?

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 03:38 AM) Red Sox fans are now spinning the trade becuase supposedly some asshole putting out a book claims he was in the room with that other dude (Lucchino?) was in charge, and he made the trade. Of course Theo was never really "gone" from the Red Sox, and if he didn't approve of the Beckett trade, why did he give him that $30 million extension? Think they could have used Arroyo this year instead of Wily Mo?
  6. I'm not ready to argue who's better this year, Frank or Thome. The one thing I'll say is that Thomas is swinging the bat significantly better than Thome down the stretch.
  7. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 03:47 AM) I think the bad ump call there changed the whole AB. Too bad. I think Thome's bad wrist changed that whole AB. He has no bat speed anymore, and he can't pull that inside pitch with any authority.
  8. Terrible vibe for this Thome AB. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 03:45 AM) f***ing ump are ridiculous. It's at Oakland....nothing ever seems fair.
  9. He had a hanger, but he tried to hard to hit it a mile.
  10. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 03:41 AM) Good. f***ing. Lord. Low and away. No way was that a strike.
  11. Yay!!! I think our best luck lately has been when the Sox hitters can't get the bunt down successfully.
  12. Who would have ever thought that with our lineup tonight, the A's would be winning due to defense? Why can't we ph for Pods here? Nice bunt AB....p.o.d.s
  13. QUOTE(tealeafreaderii @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 03:28 AM) Except for the last start, where he crapped his pants, Esteban has been on a roll for like 9 games. Isn't it possible that he is just pitching well... and the white sox aren't terrible pieces of crap? There's less than 3 weeks left and you're down a few games in the standings. I don't care if you're facing Cy Young, you better show some intensity and concentration at the plate. I couldn't have been more impressed with the Twins approach at the plate last night. Every single guy was a tough out.
  14. Garland's definitely not sharp tonight.
  15. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 03:26 AM) This is just disgraceful. It really doesn't even look like they're trying anymore, they very well could be but it doesn't show one bit. At least we only have 3 more weekends left of baseball. If this team isn't going to make the playoffs, then the season might as well end ASAP. Then, let the ridiculous XBOX trade rumors begin.
  16. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 03:25 AM) It's kind of what I expected at the beginning of the season. Some great nights, some bad nights, but very dependent on the HR. They were incredibly hot in the 1st half which got people's expectations up. And KW/Ozzie should have known better than to expect every guy to play so well.
  17. Crede's definitely been swinging lately like he has a stiff back.
  18. Plain and simple: their defense came to play tonight, and ours hasn't.
  19. QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 03:22 AM) I just turned on the radio last inning and saw that we only have 1 hit. It's sad to say I'm not suprised. I would love to know how many hits we've averaged during the first 5 innings of a game over the last month.
  20. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 03:20 AM) How about we f***ing play like our backs are against the wall here and score some f***ing runs. LETS GO That would require that we panic. You know what will piss me off? If the Sox don't make the playoffs, but we get strong starting pitching the rest of the season. I don't want to hear one freaking comment from Ozzie about how we just seemed to run out of time just as our team hit their stride.
  21. We need to find a way to get Gload in every game. He's one of the few guys hustling out there. Also, he's probably a better bet to contribute a hit at the plate than Thome is now.
  22. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 03:18 AM) Frankly, this entire team is playing like a collection of pussies and it's becoming disgusting to watch. There's only 16 games remaining. You can't hold out for anything, or hope the teams your chasing lose. Tonight is a PERFECT opportunity to gain ground on Minnesota. We need to win tonight. Garland pitching without a fresh tampon, Mackowiak/Dye's poor fielding isn't helping. How many times are we going to see these guys show no hustle? We lost on Tuesday night solely due to our lack of hustle. Yet, I haven't seen one article in the paper about this issue.
