QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Sep 8, 2006 -> 01:57 AM) I don't think either Pedro Lopez or Robert Valido are ready. Lopez is further up, but not considered as good as SS...there is always Valendia, but he's 32 years old I think. We are stunk with Uribe again next year unless we can make a deal to bring in someone. I think we need to upgrade at this position...we dont need .320/35/100 hitters, but the bottom of our order is littered with .230 I would LOVE for us to make a run at Tejada. However, I think names like Lugo or Rollins are more realistic.

QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Sep 8, 2006 -> 01:53 AM) glad to see charlie's made some real improvement since the last time we saw him. Didn't his numbers stink after he got sent back to AAA? QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Sep 8, 2006 -> 01:54 AM) Do knuckleballers have trade value? (this is a serious question) He could be a solid throw-in.

QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Sep 8, 2006 -> 01:53 AM) I am enjoying watching Sandy try to catch Haeger, I hope they leave him in I've never seen someone get tendonitis before my very eyes before.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 8, 2006 -> 01:52 AM) This is a tryout for the rotation next season. A few Soxtalkers think this guy will be fine to fill in for Javy next season.... I don't want to ever see him be in the starting rotation. I'll be happy if we include him in a trade.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 8, 2006 -> 01:51 AM) Uribe is worthless. People get on Anderson to learn how to hit. How about the guy who tells everyone before the game he is going deep, then spends the next 4 ABs spinning himself into the ground trying to make his prediction come true. What a worthless baseball player He makes Royce clayton look like a stud at the plate. Uribe doesn't even hit the ball hard anymore. It seems like every ball he hits into play is a weak pop up to the 2nd baseman. I miss the Uribe from a few years ago who would drive the ball to right field. For now, he's just another MLB player who lost his opposite field power after 2004.

QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Sep 8, 2006 -> 01:51 AM) We're the defending World Series Champs...and we have Sandy Alomar and Charlie Haeger as our battery right now... and Pablo Ozuna at 3b, a SS who is 0 for his last 18, and a CF who's hitting .230 this year.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 8, 2006 -> 01:47 AM) Hawk getting on the Sox pretty good. The Sox are just so lifeless right now. They're playing terrible baseball, and way too many of them are having selfish at-bats. I think Sandy Alomar has swung at 9 pitches tonight, and he's yet to hit one in fair territory.
-
I'm STUNNED that this lineup is having trouble scoring.
-
Can we please put Chris Stewart into this game?

QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ Sep 8, 2006 -> 01:43 AM) The only thing that was a joke was Iguchi's and Anderson's defense that inning. That ball hit off the very top of the fence in dead center. It would have been a spectacular catch. Sandy looks like he's 90 years old at the plate.
-
Nice swing by Anderson. The tables are set for the obvious here.

QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Sep 8, 2006 -> 01:41 AM) Freddy Garcia reminds me of Esteban Loaiza the year after his greatness. Guaranteed 5 runs per start. Either that, or off the juice? QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ Sep 8, 2006 -> 01:41 AM) Poor defense hurt Charlie that inning. He pitched well. I hope this is a joke.
-
It's a good thing we brought in our marginal minor league prospect to let this game get out of hand.
-
We're facing an offspeed pitcher tomorrow, and have Mr. Guaranteed 5 ER on the mound. We're going to need a miracle to not lose this series. If people wanted to see fun bad, that might be what happens on the west coast next week if this team gets swept this wknd.

QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Sep 8, 2006 -> 01:37 AM) As someone who has staunchly maintained that this team is "turning it around" I would like to officially withdraw my claims. I was wrong. Very, very wrong. Welcome
-
I've never seen a team that puts more emphasis on how guys do when the opposition is already winning. Teams don't focus as much when they're up late in the game. It's a much different atmosphere during the middle innings of a game.

QUOTE(G&T @ Sep 8, 2006 -> 01:35 AM) Another embarrassing loss to a bad team. Was this posted on the Red Sox board last night? QUOTE(Allsox @ Sep 8, 2006 -> 01:36 AM) Blechh, I spoke too soon about Haeger apparently. Wonder if Kenny can trade for Tejada in the offseason, give the Orioles Garcia, Vazquez, Uribe and cash. Would that work for them? They wouldn't want a single one of them.
-
QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Sep 8, 2006 -> 01:35 AM) Well he's no Torri Hunter out there. He looks tired...which I know is ironic considering all the talk about not resting him.
-
That's a brilliant idea...throw a first pitch fastball to a young player who can't touch slow stuff. Thankfully we didn't use McCarthy out of long relief. HAEGER CAN'T PITCH AT THE MLB LEVEL!
-
We're losing 6-0 now. We really, really suck.
-
QUOTE(cgaudin @ Sep 8, 2006 -> 01:32 AM) What, you expected two good games in a row? C'mon, you should know better by now. So if people wanted to give Ozzie credit for the win last night, does he get blamed tonight?
-
QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ Sep 8, 2006 -> 01:31 AM) what a depressing second half of the season Fixed
-
Uribe has completely mailed in this season. He used to be one of my favorite players, but he's become a serious problem.
-
The thing that I don't get is that Cliff Lee looks TERRIBLE, and the umpire has a very small zone. How many pitches are we going to pop up because we're getting underneath the high fastball? Of course, this lineup tonight didn't have much of a chance of having a good offensive night. Nice scoop Iguchi

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 8, 2006 -> 01:27 AM) After last year, I never thought I was going to have the feeling of the Sox being down by 4 early and really not having a shot. Once again, these guys just look dead. It's astonishing how consistently bad our starting pitching has been this season. You'd think they'd luck into a stretch of an entire week of good pitching. Instead, they can't go more than 3 games without someone have a terrible start. Our starting pitching is one of the most underachieving core group of players I can remember.
