White Sox vs. Twins, 4/7/07 (W)
If you're bringing in Thornton, might as well bring him in for Castillo.

Great job by Sisco throwing strikes.

QUOTE(beautox @ Apr 7, 2007 -> 09:58 PM) howd Javy look? i seen he gave up 4 walks and a hit, over 6. Terrific considering the small strike zone this ump has.

Guerrier typically makes pitching seem way too easy vs the Sox.

Some disappointing uppercuts the last few innings. Ozzie should have Sisco go to the mound, and make the Twins have a righty hit for Tyner, and then bring in MacDougal.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Apr 7, 2007 -> 09:52 PM) It's mostly the complainers that spell it wrong. Hard to b**** about Javy's game today. I wish we would knock Silva around a little bit more. HE GONE!!!! It's the weather though you have to take into consideration. We had a great approach to start the game, and then it looked like we were rushing things at the plate. Of course, who knows if Vazquez would have pitched as well as he did if Twins weren't dealing with the same conditions.

Twins have a nice righty situation off the bench with Redmond, Cirillo, White, and Ford (I assume he's on them?).

Most impressive thing of the start was I didn't see anyone spell Vazquez wrong in this thread.

I like the move of not letting Vazquez be in a position to get the loss. I assume Sisco is coming in....to face Rondell White?

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Apr 7, 2007 -> 09:47 PM) This ump sucks. Why is Morneau's strike zone so small? He's been that way all day....too bad we were facing a control pitcher in Silva. In all honesty, I'm happier we walked Morneau there.

Whew....wasn't pretty, but a huge play. One more Javy!

Let's see how long Ozzie will leave him out there. His arm angle has changed, causing his change to sail instead of drop.

Lots of fly balls today by our hitters. QUOTE(HeGone33 @ Apr 7, 2007 -> 09:41 PM) I don't feel good about this game right now. We own the Twins in this type of game over the last 5-6 years.

Great to see that by Vazquez. Let's get 2 runs here....please!

White Sox vs. Twins, 4/7/07 (W)
Uribe refusing to walk....our offense looks lifeless in this cold (which is understandable).

Great inning for Vazquez. Let's hope he can reverse his 6th inning mishaps from last year. I love hearing Thom Brenneman rip on Cubs fans.

Still sitting around and waiting for the home run. I'd like to see more action on the bases with a sinker baller on the mound. Can we lead the majors in GIDP this year?

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Apr 7, 2007 -> 08:51 PM) well at least it wasn't a strike out looking. Still a terrible, unproductive at-bat in that situation. Has to at least get the runner over on the hit-and-run. He's swinging so late....he must not be used to this cold. QUOTE(zenryan @ Apr 7, 2007 -> 08:58 PM) this sucks. I bought the first month package on mlb.tv and it's blacked out. so I'm stuck here watching the Atl/Mets game. good thing I have money on the Braves or I would be really pissed. Every game on fox will be blacked out....get used to it.

Vazquez keeps nibbling....this ump has no strike zone, that's not going to work. Good pitch sequence to Mauer going after him.

Great at-bats by the first 4 hitters. Dye's swing is way too long right now. QUOTE(effectivelywild @ Apr 7, 2007 -> 08:07 PM) I appreciate it if Pods is trying to work the count and get on base more, but right now doesn't it look like he's just not comfortable swinging the bat? I just watched him take a 3-1 cookie, his bat not even moving, and finally flying out weakly to CF. Anyone else notice this? Against a control pitcher like Silva, he should be trying to do some damage on that 3-1.

Gillispie hired at Kentucky
QUOTE(watchtower41 @ Apr 6, 2007 -> 08:31 PM) Illinois and powerhouse does not make sense in the same sentence, no matter what era. Assuming Jeff Capel keeps improving his teams through the ranks, I'd like to think he'd be a hihg candidate. J. Dawkins will take over when Coach K is done, guaranteed.

Any interest in Rocco Baldelli?
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Apr 6, 2007 -> 08:23 PM) I hope you're being hyperbolic. I think I am. The only person who has less of a chance of being on the Sox in the future is Matt Kemp.

Elijah Dukes will never be a member of the White Sox organization. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Apr 6, 2007 -> 04:12 AM) Dukes is the scariest mother f***er in baseball. Seriously, his teammates are afraid of him. (Fathom needs to chime in here.) Tampa will get rid of him the first time they get a reasonable offer. They'd much rather deal with an injury prone outfielder than one that physically threatens his teammates on a regular basis. I'm too scared of Dukes to start saying everything he's been involved in.

2007 MLB Catch-All Thread
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2007 @ Apr 6, 2007 -> 05:37 AM) Get back to us a couple weeks from now. I said this in the game thread the other day. Lilly will dominate the NL until it gets hot out and the wind starts blowing out. Until then, he'll eat teams up with his high fastball against players that haven't faced him before. Marquis usually starts off well, and then gets shelled when the ball starts jumping also.

Will Santana still pitch Sunday?
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 6, 2007 -> 06:32 PM) Yeah, no s*** this is going to be pretty brutal. Especially that Tuesday game with Buehlre and his career 0-5, 4.86 ERA, 1.47 WHIP in Oakland. That's why yesterday's game was very important.
