Todays game
QUOTE(iamshack @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 11:28 PM) Why does it always have to be about Podsednik? Personally, I don't care if he is out there or not, but I am tired of him being the whipping boy by this board for every weakness in this team's armour. There is PLENTY of blame to go around, namely 1) Dye getting noticeably older and more awkward in the field (and for all the people claiming "Thome is just not clutch," why do you suppose Dye had such incredible offensive numbers last season? ahem, Thome; 2) Iguchi, among a few others, repeatedly failing to execute in the late innings; 3) Repeated failure to hold leads, by both the starters and the bullpen; 4) Poor defense; And on and on and on. But yes, it is much easier to claim Podsednik he should be in AAA and then the White Sox would go 162-0. Dye was horrible in the outfield, but his offense made up for it. I'm not concerned about him at all. He had about 45 millions reason to do good this year. Our pitching sucks, plain and simple. When KW was questioning their velocity about two weeks ago, we should have known we were in trouble.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 11:27 PM) BTW, I am not even going to touch the game thread because 1) I was at the game, and 2) Its long as hell, but I really liked the Sox just not playing with Hafner at all, but if you are going to do that, make sure you can get the next batter out. Thanks Victor..... (Thats no knock on Ozzie, I thought he did most everything right, the players just have to execute.) Yep, I don't blame him for how he handled everything. He might have too much confidence in Sisco right now, but that happens early in the year. I didn't like him having Pods bat against a LHP late in the game, where that should just automatically result in Anderson going into the game to bat/defensive purposes.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2007 @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 11:17 PM) fathom, there's nothing on earth that could ever make you optimistic. Thanks....and that's not true at all. I'm very optimistic about Iguchi down in the order. When I say things that make me optimistic, I mean strategical things or personnel options, not just game results.

QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 11:13 PM) well, he already said on the boers and bernstien show yesterday that pods would play tomorrow Super....I predict he gets picked-off.

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 11:10 PM) The good news is that it would seem logical (not that logic is a friend to Ozzie Guillen) for Pods to sut vs. a lefty tomorrow. An even better idea might be to change the locks on the door to the lockerroom so Ozzie can't even try to play Pods tomorrow. Don't worry, Ozzie is going to play as many lefties as possible vs Johan this weekend.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 10:53 PM) I just got home from the game. First off, Now, for the game. I have a really hard time getting too upset, just because how much excitement I have for the season to start, and just the hope I have for this team, but I just hate the vibe this club has given off for the last 8,9 months. This is the exact same s*** we saw the 2nd half of last season, and all of Spring. The pitching just isn't there, and I can't beleive I am the one saying it, but it seems as if we have turned into a full blown softball squad. I am one of the biggest Earl Weaver backers you will find, and I love the 3 run HR, but there is a time and place for everything, and some of the swings I saw today(Crede-Dye) in particular made me sick. Aside from the Crede base knock, the execution today was horrid, and one of the most frustrating games I have watched in a long while. Please White Sox, give me some hope for this season. You really haven't given me any since June of last year. Please. Well said. I'm still waiting for something to make me optimistic that things won't be the same as they were during the 2nd half of last year. I'm just so annoyed we have to deal with the same worthless Independent League caliber left fielder.

QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 11:04 PM) well in order to do that, you need those kind of players. pods, uribe, gooch, arent exactly grinder/phirana type players. im sure we all wish that everyone played like ersatd but they just dont. i love the twins style of playing, its just great they do everything right when they have to so they can win a game The Twins are a good team because of Mauer, Morneau, and a sensational end of the bullpen (and a sensational manager at following fathom's #1 rule).

QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 10:06 PM) I'm pretty sure fathom would not want a part of either of the two you mentioned. Are you kidding? I really wanted us to sign Pierre. He does have a lot of deficiencies, but he's the perfect player for how Ozzie wants to play. It's too bad that Cubs had to f*** up the market and put Pierre out of our salary range. Gary Mathews Jr. has been my favorite non-Sox player for years now. The steroid stuff is shocking, as many have told me him and Thome are the nicest two guys in all of baseball. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2007 @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 10:06 PM) Uribe was 2/4 Monday, 0/3 today. You're already whining about an upgrade? Pods was bad today. Can you atleast give him a week before you start crying that we should've signed Pierre or Gary Matthews Jr.? I've been whining about an upgrade prior to the year. I don't care if Pods goes 5-5 tomorrow...I still think it was a horrific decision to bring him back. He's a zero tool player.

QUOTE(BearSox @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 10:00 PM) I don't think anyone is giving up on the season, but mainly just pissed at the piss-poor execution by this team. Not to mention Ozzie's wonderful management of the pen, and Greg Walker's get lessons on how to hit the outside pitch. Don't blame this on Ozzie or Walker. It's pretty obvious that are two worst positions (LF and SS) weren't upgraded this offseason.

QUOTE(BearSox @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 09:58 PM) Young, good looking lefty tommorow... we have basically no chance tommorow. And I can wait until Minnesota comes to town, because they would have a feast off of us as well. We can beat Sowers. If he ends up dominating us this season, then we have zero chance to win this division with all the other Sox killers in our division on the mound 6 times.

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 09:56 PM) On a related note, how long before Pods is batting above .000? Don't worry, people will use the injury excuse to defend him. There's two things in this world that puzzle me: 1) How is Ron Santo still alive 2) Why did the Sox bring back Pods

QUOTE(Jimbo @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 09:50 PM) Jim Leyland 06 motivates his team with a strong speech of encouragement. ozzie guilles 07 ehhhhh just fire me, i suck. I can't believe how immature his comment was. Be a professional, and shut the hell up and manage this clusterfrick of a team.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 09:49 PM) Even the Ranger is second-guessing Ozzie on having Iguchi bunt. Funny he questions that, when there's a legit argument for why he had Iguchi bunt. Not a well managed game by Ozzie, but in no way is he responsible for this loss.

QUOTE(zenryan @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 09:48 PM) seems like its a struggle to just get one of their batters out The Indians offense will be better this year than it was last year, and our pitching is massively overrated. Positive games for Aardsma and Erstad though.....160 more games left in the Pods era. 0-4 with a caught stealing..stay hot!

White Sox vs. Indians, 4/4/07 (L)
Same issues we saw last year: bad starting pitching, bad relief work, bad situational hitting, and a LF/SS that are worthless.

Like I said, I'll be happy if we don't bunt one time this whole season. That's now 2 outs we've given up this year on unsuccessful bunts. Pods....why are you still on this team?
