What a pathetic performance by Vazquez. He's scared of the bat. If he gives up a homer here, these fans better boo his ass off the field.

A better pitch, but just a great eye by these Yankees hitters.

Holy cow, is he ever making a lot of mistakes with his fastball tonight.

Abreu in the 3rd spot is just awesome for the Yanks. It's too bad we didn't make a play for him by trying to unload the contracts of Garcia and Pods, and then having him replace their salary for next year. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 03:06 AM) This is getting to the point where it's almost as ridiculous as that start he had at home against Cleveland earlier this year. We won that game, but I think Javy threw 110 pitches in like 5 innings and Cleveland left 15 men on base or something. Exactly what I was thinking of. Cotts came in, and Hafner hit one a mile against him.

He's getting away with a lot. Make a good pitch here!

Ha...just letting him walk into 2nd base.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 03:03 AM) We have passed the 75 pitch barrier. And it's 3rd time through the order.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 03:03 AM) A.J.'s swing against Rivera last night might be in my top 3. I actually think that besides Web Gems in franchise history, it would be funny to see the Worst Web Gems in franchise history. I'd love to see Alex Gonzalez, Brant Brown, and Leon Durham battle it out for the Cubs. Vazquez is lucky to get away with that meatball.

QUOTE(Felix @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 03:02 AM) Something along the lines of "Last year, Don Cooper was the hot item. Everyone wanted to sign him, etc. This year, all the pitchers, with exception of Contreras, are all significantly worse than last year." They went on to talk about the workload and about how the pitchers just might not be the same because of the amount of work they've had. What a fascinating concept.

QUOTE(Jimbo @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 03:01 AM) no way that swing vs. el duque in the playoffs was by far the worst Actually, the worst swing in history was by Nick Green of the Yankees about two weeks ago at Toronto. I don't know if people saw it, but he literally swung after the catcher had the ball.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 02:59 AM) Damon pops out to 3rd on one of the worst swings in the history of baseball. He made a similar pathetic out against the Sox in Game 2 of the ALDS in the 9th inning.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 02:55 AM) We have to lead the league in taken third strikes. What happened to the old adage of protecting the plate, especially with RISP and 2 outs. And people wonder why we don't get a lot of bloops.

SWING THE FREAKING BAT! We let Mussina get away with some awful pitches that inning. I'll be happy if we have the lead after this inning.

To show I'm an equal opportunity criticizer, Francona should be ashamed of himself for leaving in Schilling as long as he did tonight.

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 02:44 AM) I wish our pitchers knew what a changeup was. Well, I guess Freddy does, but no one else ever throws it. The problem is that 4 of our guys throw them a lot, and if you throw a bad changeup, it's going to get hit a lot harder than any other bad pitch you can throw. This is amazing....the Royals have 10 hits tonight, and every one has been for extra bases.

Can I request that we get some more runs? I don't know how pitchers are supposed to do it. I get fatigued just seeing the Yankees bring up tough out after tough out.

QUOTE(Friend of Nordhagen @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 02:40 AM) Good location to Giambi. Vazquez is an ace. You walk the leadoff hitter in a 4-0 game, and you're asking for this.

I'll tell you what....that Javier Vazquez sure knows how to keep the momentum going. Someone needs to tell him that his fastball over the plate isn't a good pitch.
-

Vazquez looks like crap this inning. He keeps throwing his fastball down in the zone, and it has no life. We're lucky it's not 4-3.

Interesting that Vazquez would go with the slide-step. He's better off focusing on Giambi in this situation. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 02:37 AM) Interesting that Vazquez would go with the slide-step. He's better off focusing on Giambi in this situation. And that's ok. Once again, I'd like to give a big F U to the Phillies.
