  1. This is the worst we've played all year. The Yankees and Torre are shoving it up the Sox ass right now.
  2. QUOTE(CWSOX45 @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 06:35 PM) I never expected our starting staff to repeat its success in 2005, but what I've seen so far this year sickens me. It makes me appreciate how everything fell into place last year even more. Go no further than looking at Cliff Politte for how magical of a season it really was.
  3. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 06:33 PM) Well, KW supposedly did call the Marlins about Willis so it sounds he sees the problem and isn't content with our overpriced crap. Where did you see this?
  4. I think our bullpen is pretty deep right now. It's not their fault that Ozzie has absolutely no clue how to use guys like McCarthy or Cotts (both should be allowed to start innings and face 5 or 6 guys in a game). In the past few months, we've only lost a few games due to our bullpen. Now, our starting pitching has been a much different story.
  5. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 06:32 PM) economically speaking, a sunk cost is unrecoverable in other words, I couldn't disagree with fathom more Trust me, I don't agree with what I said, but it's the reality of how baseball works. There's been way too much talk about how this is the greatest rotation in history. The whole Vazquez trade has really been a disaster so far.
  6. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 06:31 PM) That's stupid. Make improvements no matter how much money we've got invested in the starters. Standing by while watching this mess is retarded. I know you've been saying we need to add another starter. While I admire your passion about doing this, it's very unlikely.
  7. QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 06:27 PM) come on Kong, you got jammed by the same pitch twice, pathetic. His bat speed has been non-existent for 2 weeks now.
  8. QUOTE(atrain081 @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 06:26 PM) it just looks like our starters are tired out there. i wouldn't mind trying a six man rotation for a little bit and see if that doesn't help any I don't buy the tired excuse at all. Especially coming off of the all-star break. As I've said all year, with the money we have invested in these 5 guys, if they continue to underachieve, we don't deserve to make the playoffs.
  9. On the bright side, maybe we'll be forced to make a move in the next 7-10 days if we get destroyed by the Yanks/Tigers. I can't believe how much our starters have underarchieved over the past few months. QUOTE(CWSOX45 @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 06:23 PM) I was hoping that after the all-star break our starters would regain their true form....now I'm starting to get extremely concerned... Did you see the teams on our schedule to start the 2nd half?
  10. Man, does our starting pitching absolutely suck right now.
  11. QUOTE(rangercal @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 06:18 PM) you cried all year in 2005. I think we did all right that year. That was last year, where our pitching was sensational. My grandma can coach a team effectively if the starters will consistently give you 7 innings, 2 runs.
  12. QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 06:17 PM) my god, none of the breaks are going the SOx' way so far, get the f*** outta the way Giabmi. The Yankees are creating their breaks so far. You don't see them taking called 3rd strikes, etc. They're playing very focused baseball so far, as they know how important this series is.
  13. QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 06:16 PM) Perhaps because one is a rookie and the other is a veteran unlikely to improve? Of course there's a double standard. Well, it's the 2nd half of the season, and we're facing the toughest part of our schedule. I don't care if he's a rookie or a 20 season veteran....he needs to play better, smarter baseball.
  14. I never thought I'd see the day where Jeter is asked to bunt, and Anderson isn't.
  15. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 06:14 PM) Dammit BA> Need a productive out there with Moose on the mound. Yep....it's amazing the slack he's given by some fans. If Mackowiak cost us a run by misplaying a fly ball, and then had a pathetic AB that probably cost us a run, people would be going nuts about how Anderson needs to play every day.
  16. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 06:10 PM) Farmer thinks Iguchi is still bothered by the sore ankle. He looks like he has no base in that ankle when he swings.
  17. Keep swinging at balls, and taking strikes guys!
  18. Pods gets bailed out by the umpire, and still can't contribute. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 06:07 PM) I love me some station to station offense!! :headshake It's sickening how much we've become station-to-station.
  19. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 06:01 PM) I am hoping that we trade for some bullpen help and ship Garcia and his dead arm somewhere in the NL. I think bmac is the kind of kick our rotation needs. I still think we need to add a top-notch outfielder to play LF or CF, but I no that's likely not going to happen. As you said yesterday, I don't want us tipping our hat in the 2nd half of the season every time we face Liriano or Santana.
  20. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 05:56 PM) I can't see the game except for on Gameday, how's Mark looking? He's up in the zone with everything. The disturbing thing is that Mussina looks fantastic.
  21. QUOTE(TheHolyBovine @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 05:56 PM) As I said earlier, outside of Jose, our pitchers look like they're having arm problems. Velocity is down across the board. Well, our starters also throw as many pitches as anyone in baseball over the last two seasons.
  22. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 05:54 PM) Well someone needs to explain how Freddy lost so much on his fast ball in a year. The clock didnt suddenly strike 40 on him. I definitely think it's too late in the season to still be using the injury excuse for Garcia.
  23. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 05:48 PM) I disagree. Outside of Contreras being out two weeks, what other injuries have our starters have? The Cubs haven't really had their starters all healthy for an extended period. Don't get me wrong though, outside of Zambrano, their starters suck. QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 05:51 PM) If that's true, that's about the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Actually, I agreed with Widger playing. We saw with Thome last night how difficult RJ is on lefties.
  24. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 05:43 PM) We are second after the Cubs, but point taken. At least they have an injury excuse. Our starters have been healthy basically all year.
