  1. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 02:22 AM) Fathom, get a clue. Garcia's only bad outings have come against the Indians and Blue Jays. Two teams known for their offenses. And get this....we face a lot of good hitting teams the rest of the way. We've played a lot of games against the bad hitting teams like the Angels (they were brutal when we played them), Tampa, KC, Cubs, etc. Since they're good hitting teams, should Garcia just not pitch on Sunday vs the Indians?
  2. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 02:17 AM) OK I'll bite. Why trade Garcia this upcoming offseason? How the f*** is Garcia considered a "bad" pitcher? Why not? He has one year left on his deal, and I think he's past his peak. We need to open up a hole for McCarthy next season, and Garcia is the best fit for someone to get traded. I have more confidence in Garland rebounding in 2007 than I do Garcia.
  3. BTW...this was one of the reasons that I thought the Rogers signing was great for the Tigers. He's always given us trouble. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 02:15 AM) Garcia has 9 quality starts in 12 chances this season. That is bad? Yep...if he keeps pitching like the way he's doing, his ERA is going to be above 5 for the season.
  4. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 02:12 AM) I thought Garland threw the ball pretty well tonight. A stupid walk to Shelton and a good piece of hitting by Polanco gave up 2 runs. Then he got blooped to death in the 6th before he made a bad pitch to THames. He really only had one bad pitch that whole inning. He wasn't as bad as he's been...but he still had his "Judy" issues.
  5. QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 02:11 AM) so if we were in the playoffs u rather have mark/cont/vazquez and then gar pitchin vs. mark/cont./freddy(playoff stud) and then vazquez? jeez i dont care if freddy is 14-10 4.50 or somethng if in the playoffs he pitches like last yr. I don't want the finesse Freddy. You have to make the playoffs before you can worry about the rotation. If you have bad pitchers like Garcia, and Garland going 40 pct of your games, good luck making the playoffs.
  6. QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 02:05 AM) are u serious?? Umm...YES
  7. http://www.deadspin.com/ Some interesting rumors
  8. QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 02:03 AM) i hope the sox arent stupid and let freddy leave or trade him. I'll be thrilled if they trade him this offseason.
  9. QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 02:01 AM) The whole team has been bad tonite, and guess what, same old problem ... lack of execution. We have to find a way to get Ozuna in the lineup vs lefties. The worst thing to come out of this game is a possible injury to Crede.
  10. QUOTE(Soxfest @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 01:59 AM) No question which starter will be packaged away in off season, with any luck! Yep....Buehrle to the Cardinals
  11. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 01:59 AM) See, now logically this is just stupid. Garland hasn't proven anything, good or bad. He's proven he's having an awfully s***ty start to this season, and he proved that he had a great start to last season. I'm certainly not going to be dumb enough to sit here and say Garland will have an ERA over 6 the rest of his life. Garland is such a headcase. Until he learns to keep the ball in the park, he's going to continue to struggle. He's on a record pace for homers allowed.
  12. Well....even if we go on to lose this game, I'm still happy with this series. In all honesty, we could have easily lost all three games.
  13. Quick observation....we need to change our approach against lefties.
  14. DJ continues to talk about the good pitching performance by Garland. And now Hawk's blaming the umpire. I haven't seen Garland throw one pitch that I thought was a strike, but called a ball.
  15. QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 01:52 AM) No one's saying it isn't a problem. What jphat007 is saying, and you know this full well, is that it's not like KW can just snap his fingers and get a new CF. You know as well as everyone else he is one of the most aggressive GM's out there and you also know he is out looking, probably as we speak. Teams have to match up trade wise, the timing has to be right, and early June is almost always a non trading time of the season. Hopefully he can pull something off, and soon. My sense is Anderson gets shipped out after the game. See, that's a perfect explanation. I couldn't agree more. I just think KW's had about a month of seeing this terrible production, and even if he can't make a huge transaction, a little band-aid would do this team well.
  16. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 01:51 AM) if brian anderson was playing we would totally be in the lead. totally We'd still only have 2 runs.....and still have Garland on the mound giving up 2 out hits.
  17. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 01:50 AM) And yet...they still have like 7 starting pitchers they're rotating through, because they have no one to fill their gigantic gaping holes there. That's what I'm saying....at least they have other options to possibly fill in. We have nothing.
  18. QUOTE(PeoriaSoxFan @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 01:49 AM) Do you think Oz is rethinking the idea of sending BA down now? I seriously hope he's not considering playing Mackowiak vs Lee and C.C. this wknd. f*** it...try Ozuna in CF if this game gets out of hand.
  19. QUOTE(illinilaw08 @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 01:49 AM) Here's a silver lining... remember when the immortal Felix Diaz and Arnie Munoz were getting starts and the White Sox couldn't get a win out of the 5th starter spot? I'm not defending Garland's effort tonight, he needs to pitch with the balls he pitched with last year in tight spots but people, things could be a LOT worse. Great....we're paying him a fortune to be just a little more reliable than those guys.
  20. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 01:47 AM) Their minor leagues are more bare than ours, by a lot. Yes, Cabrera's done better than Anderson, but that's only because BA's been so damn bad. That's all it took....one guy to be in their system. One guy to fill the hole.
  21. QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 01:45 AM) JPhat007, Please stop making sense, fathom does not want to hear it right now. How long can we go with such a glaring hole in CF? I must be watching a different game than some people, but it's killing us game after game.
  22. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 01:44 AM) You take the good with the bad, but in no way is Joey Cora as bad as Wally was. It was a bad decision, but I'm not going to blame the outcome of this game on him.
  23. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 01:44 AM) Are you serious in thinking that most contending teams don't have holes? Hell, the Yankees spend $210 million a year and they still have f***ing gaping holes on their team. And they have guys in the minors they can call up to possibly fill that role. WE HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO ONE. KW traded our one possible CF replacement, and basically put all his eggs in the Anderson basket.
  24. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 01:42 AM) You are living in lala land. You can't just pick out a player and say, oh, let's go get him because we need a center fielder badly. Baseball doesn't work like that. Teams are asking an arm and a leg for everything. There is a reason you dont see any trades going down right now. Or maybe it's because most contending teams don't have absolutely glaring holes this early in the season. I'm pretty sure la la land is thinking that things are fine with what we currently have out there.
  25. QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 01:41 AM) Now Garland has responded to defensive mistakes by throwing batting practice. s***. Is that a surprise? The only silver lining might be that this might force KW to do something about our CF position. And for everyone whining it would cost too much......that didn't stop KW from acquiring people in the past. The organization wants to win it all this year..........and we're going nowhere with our current CF situation.
