Quick observation...in the past, Robertson gave us problems because our hitters would take too many called 3rd strikes. He'll pitch inside to our righties, especially with 2 strikes. We need big games from PK, Dye, and Crede tonight.

QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 10:13 PM) Cintron is starting at SS. Apparently Uribe's wife is giving birth. Uribe isn't even at the park. It looks like Uribe's wife is the only person to get him not to pull off the ball too early.

Miguel Tejada
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 09:08 PM) Just what we need to do...weaken our bullpen even more. I see your point, and you're right...but it doesn't work without us finding another RH reliever somewhere. Personally I'd still prefer to see Brandon in the starting 5 next year though. You know I'd like to see McCarthy in the rotation NOW, but for some reason, I don't feel like the organization is too high on him. I have no doubt that KW will add another RH reliever, any my prediction is that it will be Roberto Hernandez.

Miguel Tejada
QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 07:11 PM) I'd trade BMac and Uribe for him straight up if Baltimore did it with them possibly paying some salary. I think Tejada is that damn good that I'd trade McCarthy, Fields, and Uribe for Tejada. If you get Tejada, you make every aspect of the team better. With the extra offense, it gives your pitching a little more breathing room.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 07:55 PM) I don't think Tyler Reeves is bad. Give me a guy who could hit .300 with 13 hr's anyday. He sounds like an AJ Pierzynski clone. Anyone know how good of a game he calls? He wasn't one of the top 100 prospects in Texas, and that's not because he was an unknown. I also just learned that the Cubs are expected to try and make Jeff S. choose between baseball and football with a monster signing bonus.

Awful last pick by the Sox.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 07:31 PM) I disagree, Smardtza has really came on, outstanding athlete with good stuff, but he's more of a project than the typical collegiate QB taken early on. Like you said...he's a project, but will he really have the time to develop as a pitcher. He's a sure-fire top 15 pick in next year's NFL draft. The Cubs are going to give a lot of money to a project who I would be shocked if he ever contributed in the majors.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 07:28 PM) We better stop winning if we want the best arms in the draft. I'm kosher with selecting 29th. I really like our pick that late in the first round. I don't care if a pitcher is a power guy or finesse. I want a guy that knows how to get hitters out. QUOTE(farmteam @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 07:28 PM) I haven't read the thread, but is Samardzija gone yet? What about the Sox taking a chance on him in the later rounds? People seem to think the Cubs have an agreement with him in the 5th round. I think it's foolish, as he's nowhere near as good as his hype in baseball. Also, he's going to end up being a football guy in the long run.

I don't really blame the Sox for drafting finesse guys. Since when have we actually been able to develop power arms? The only power pitcher we've had in the last 5 years was a cast-off from the Angels organization (and now Thornton, who's from the Seattle organization).

Did the college pitcher, the closer from Arizona (not sure if it was ASU or Az) get drafted yet? I know he had some elbow concerns.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 06:58 PM) The Nats picked Stephen King -- described as an extremely athletic kid who has been injured and hasn't put up the numbers quite yet. That's the type of pick I sort of like right now. That's not to say I don't like the Sox picks so far (I'm pretty happy right now), but I like the toolsy type player right now. I think BA projected the Cubs as taking him with their first pick. If baseball doesn't work out for him, I'm should being a novelist might pay the bills.

Griffey Talk
I can't see the Reds trading him, as they're off to a great start this season. I'd take Griffey Jr. in a heartbeat....and make JR worry about paying him. I have a funny feeling that McCarthy might be used as trade bait. I'm not so sure that Ozzie likes him as much as a lot of us do.

When do the Sox pick next? Also, where is Wes Hodges supposed to be picked around? I've seen him play a lot at GT, and he's someone I think will become a MLB player.
