QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ May 21, 2006 -> 04:30 PM) I can breathe a little easier knowing that Boone Logan is back where he belongs. It's funny, but it's true. It's nice knowing that Ozzie doesn't have the option of bringing in the minor league pitcher. Good luck Boone, and it will be interesting to see if you ever make it back up to the big leagues.

Something I've noticed with Thornton: His slider isn't effective at all against righties. He's better off sticking with the fastball to righties, and using the slider against lefties. As long as he can throw strikes with his fastball, he'll be a solid option in the bullpen.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 21, 2006 -> 04:04 PM) Contreras has not yet told Ozzie that he is good to go today, gonna have ot wait a little while longer for confirmation. Umm....that's not a promising sign. I do know that Contreras has a history of being very conservative when it comes to pitching directly after an injury.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 21, 2006 -> 03:26 PM) Hill had big time mechanical problems on his curveball. Even I could see he wasn't finishing his pitches and his curveball was always WAY high and uncontrolable. The Sox hitters were just sitting on his fastball. Exactly. I can't believe they threw Iguchi a 2-2 fastball. Anyone that has scouted Sox games have to know that you can get him out with an offspeed pitch when you have 2 strikes on him. Oh well....I'll gladly take it.

Wallyburger....your column in the Sun-Times today sucked!

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 21, 2006 -> 02:55 PM) What was pathetic is how rattled Hill was by the whole situation and because of that he gave up a meatball to Tad. Honestly, I don't think he was rattled. He pitched like a sackless s*** before the play, and pitched like it after.

Zambrano's going to be fist pumping from the first batter on today. The two worries I have about Contreras today are his control, and the fact that the Cubs have about 4 guys in their lineup who will turn a single into a double due to the ease of stealing against Contreras.

That's the thing.....I would have expected AJP to be at fault, if you told me before hand what happened. However, he really didn't do anything wrong. By no means am I a White Sox homer, but anyone blaming AJP is pathetic. Barrett's a piece of s***, and it was just a matter of time before he lost his temper and acted like an idiot.

Did anyone happen to see Eric Byrnes run over Brian McCann at home plate last night? McCann looked like he broke/tore something in his lower leg. I eagerly await some idiotic articles saying they should ban players from running over the catcher. QUOTE(wallyburger @ May 21, 2006 -> 12:27 PM) BTW, anybody remember AJ stepping on the 3B as he was rounding the bag earlier. That was as bad as Marcus Vick stomping on Dumerville. That will tell you what a jerk off A J is. Congratulations on a TERRIBLE analogy. Lets see.....the Indians didn't even feel the need to retaliate against AJP....and Marcus Vick got kicked off the team. Vick went out of his way to step on Dumerville's leg. AJP, while he almost definitely could have avoided Boone, didn't change his direction or stop so he could do it.

I can't wait to hear Hawk comment on this. This might be the worst article I've ever read.

Great quote by Ozzie. I bash him a lot of the time, but it's refreshing to hear him say what everyone else is thinking. Rich Hill was f***ing terrible in that 2nd inning. He has absolutely no right to make a comment like that.

QUOTE(Felix @ May 21, 2006 -> 02:21 AM) Thats how I look at it too. From my understanding, a lot of Sox fans really hate the Cubs and their fans because they are idiots. Well, yea, there are idiots in every fan base. If you are able to ignore them, and just listen to the educated fans (or non-idiots, however you want to refer to them as), you'll be much better off in life. See, I don't just hate the Cubs fans. I hate the whole organization. Their players are assholes, their coach is a pathetic piece of s***, and their upper mgmt makes more excuses than Paris Hilton's publicist.

Why isn't Coffey closing for the Reds tonight?
-
QUOTE(Felix @ May 21, 2006 -> 01:05 AM) So you think that every single Cubs fan thats alive today deserves to die without seeing their favorite team win a World Championship? Sure, why not? Like someone said, that's the price you pay for cheering for a classless, whiny, pathetic organization who will blame anyone but themselves.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ May 21, 2006 -> 12:57 AM) That's a little too harsh. Harsh....but I agree with everything he said.

Serious fractures for the horse, but it doesn't sound good for him. If his blood supply is damaged, they're going to have to put him to sleep.
-
Yep....that was just awful. I've never seen a race where no one cared about the winner more than this. He'll be lucky if he survives this.
-
Two quick comments: - With Ozzie in charge of the team, Garcia might as well cancel his All-Star break plans. - No one has been more responsible for the winning the Sox have done over the last year and a quarter than AJP.
-
Our brawl made the top stories on yahoo.com Good catch by Pierre. His defense has actually been better than I thought it would be for the Cubs.
-
QUOTE(JimH @ May 20, 2006 -> 07:12 PM) I think it's ok for you to relax in this game. Against the Cubs, I'm never relaxed. I work with two of the most obnoxious Cubs fans in history (quite an accomplishment), and if the Cubs were to come back in a game like this, it would be hell for years (or at least until I bring up 2005). Nice to see you more in these threads Jim

YES SIR!!!
-
Lets get McCarthy up in the bullpen. Bases loaded, one out for the Cubs.
-
3 straight hard hit balls to start this inning. Garcia's just putting that fastball right down the plate now. Gotta limit the damage here.
-
QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ May 20, 2006 -> 06:57 PM) Why, did one of the announcers call Goooch Taguchi? Yes, Thommy boy did.

The Cubs really should have traded Hill when he had top value. I don't see how his stuff will translate into being a good MLB pitcher.
