  1. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 23, 2006 -> 12:36 AM) The royals pretty much rock. The Tigers match up great against a team like KC. Their pitching is good enough to hold them to a few runs, and their hitters will put up a good showing every game against them. I'm still not sure how people can look at the Tigers talent, and not think that they'll be in the thick of the race the entire season.
  2. QUOTE(jphat007 @ May 23, 2006 -> 12:35 AM) I'm not blaming anybody. Shut the f*** up. No reason for that
  3. Tigers up 5-0. They're getting some nice production from their SS/CF lately.
  4. Aramis Ramirez hits 2 homers off of Contreras....yet grounds into two double plays against Ricky Nolasco? It's been a crazy couple of days lately. I figured we had no chance in hell tonight. Maybe some positives will come out of tonight, like Anderson or Uribe not resembling a pitcher at the plate.
  5. Tigers up 2-0 Man...this game thread is going to be fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. QUOTE(jphat007 @ May 23, 2006 -> 12:29 AM) Oakland owns all of them. DOesn't matter who is out there. Garland gave us our only two wins against them in 9 tries last year. That was the Garland of last season. The sooner people start judging him on how he's doing this year, the better the analysis of him will be (same goes for the rest of the pitchers, especially the relievers). A long season, with playoffs included, can have a lasting impact on a pitcher's arms.
  7. Garland allowing almost a homer every 4 innings.
  8. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ May 23, 2006 -> 12:25 AM) Frank homers. Haha....way to keep it in the park Garland. How can a sinker baller give up so many homers?
  9. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ May 23, 2006 -> 12:16 AM) Thome = only guy on the team who should be allowed to swing on a 3-0 count. Konerko's done a lot of damage on 3-0 pitches this season.
  10. Did our favorite douchebags to the north just hit Hanley Ramirez after the pitcher hit a homer?
  11. QUOTE(TLAK @ May 22, 2006 -> 11:27 PM) Umpires: HP: Doug Eddings 1B: Paul Schrieber 2B: Jim Joyce 3B: Greg Gibson [/code] Check out the umps. A great sign for any Frank haters would be "The home plate umpire helped us win a World Series more than Frank Thomas".
  12. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 22, 2006 -> 08:58 PM) It all may be a mute point anyway if a Sox starter blows out his arm this year. I also think the rest of this season is huge for this team. If for some reason the Sox don't make the playoffs, the rate of seasonticket renewals will play a huge role in the make-up of the roster. Here's the thing...it was vitally important that this team get off to a good start this season. We definitely have done that, and that should assure that we're drawing 30k fan for almost all of our home games this season. Even if the Sox don't make the playoffs this year, I think we'll be competitive enough that the fans will come this season, as well as next year. There's already advertisements for the 2007 season ticket waiting list. I'm fairly confident that our payroll will be over 90 million next season.
  13. Just say no to Donnelly. He's past his prime, and his stuff has fallen off from a few years ago. Also....he's an asshole!
  14. QUOTE(Steff @ May 22, 2006 -> 07:43 PM) Wasn't "great"...? It wasn't anything. He did not move. Yeah, I still don't understand what happened with the infield defense yesterday. It was just a matter of time before having to get 4 outs in an inning hurt us.
  15. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 22, 2006 -> 07:25 PM) I'd rather deal him for Bradley Lidge But Shields is another guy that could become available (since the Angels SUCK). You know I've been on the acquire Lidge bandwagon for almost a year now. I think the guy is awesome, and he could get a fresh start in the AL (against hitters who haven't seen his slider). It's just painful to see Ozzie not have a handle on our bullpen yet (not entirely his fault). Politte should be more of a long reliever then a set-up guy. He's lost 3 mph off of his fastball, and he resembles Vizcaino now with all of his sliders.
  16. QUOTE(Steff @ May 22, 2006 -> 07:39 PM) You mean Paul f*** up. It wasn't a great stretch by PK, but that was an AWFUL throw by Uribe. He had a lot of time to make the throw, and he didn't compensate for the fact he was on the outside part of the base. Instead, he just threw it straight, and it tied up PK.
  17. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 22, 2006 -> 07:07 PM) It depends on who it is. Most of the teams willing to trade guys have bad teams because their players suck. It obviously would have to be a pretty good pitcher you would get back to trade Fields, although I'm not sold on Fields being a good major league player. The only long reliever in baseball I would trade Fields for is Scot Shields. Since the Angels won't be trading him, I'd much rather hold on to Fields.
  18. You don't trade Josh Fields for a middle reliever, plain and simple.
  19. QUOTE(WCSox @ May 22, 2006 -> 05:33 PM) ^^^ After Jon's three-year deal, I thought that it would be Garcia. But Freddy's done well overall so far this season and, unlike Jon, has more than one really good regular season under his belt. I wouldn't be surprised if Freddy got a three-year extension this winter. By the end of that 3-yr extension, Garcia might be topping off at 80 mph BTW....in 3 years, I think Garland will be a much better pitcher than Garcia. People seem to forget that it's very possible that Buehrle will only be with the Sox for one more season (lets just hope that the Cards have some very good prospects we can trade for this offseason, if needed).
  20. It's amazing the hypocrisy that comes from the Cubs locker room. What a classless bunch of freaking pussies. The worst thing is that if the Cubs were to sweep the Marlins this week (battle of AAA teams), then every column will state how Barrett's actions sparked them back in the right direction.
  21. I think we all know that Freddy's not going anywhere. If Buehrle makes it known that he won't be extending his deal until he hits his free agency period, he could very well be on the market.
  22. QUOTE(YASNY @ May 22, 2006 -> 03:46 AM) Take another look at that play. Mack underestimated the length of the drive and had to adjust his route to the ball, which prevented him from getting there. Anderson puts it in his hip pocket. That ball was slicing a lot. Barrett actually hits a lot of balls to the right center alley. Mackowiak should have been playing deeper than he was....but that's about 5th on the list of what went wrong in that inning. And what's this s*** about Politte coming in to face Barrett? That should have been Jenks.
  23. QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ May 22, 2006 -> 03:27 AM) To me, ignoring the critics is. If you can get people to read your stuff, I'd say that's pretty good, regardless of whether they agree with you or not. And to do it on a regular basis for 15 years, as Mariotti has done, that's even better. For every douchebag like Mariotti that makes this style work, there's 100 dickwads who piss off so many people that they don't have a job.
  24. QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ May 22, 2006 -> 03:06 AM) And that's what I admire about the guy and want to emulate It's not exactly an admirable quality.
