  1. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ May 23, 2006 -> 01:26 AM) Agreed. And I really hope that Chris Young doesn't turn into a stud CF'er. Vazquez is going to be great....if he can face Kansas City 20 times a season. Has anyone calculated what our record is with AJP catching vs Widger this season?
  2. QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 23, 2006 -> 01:25 AM) No reason for Cintron not to be starting at this point, IMO. If Brian Anderson did what Uribe did yesterday, he'd be on the bench for 3 games.
  3. You know what....Uribe's throw in the 8th inning yesterday was closest he's come to clearing the wall in a long time.
  4. QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 23, 2006 -> 01:22 AM) Everyone in the Tiger lineup with a hit tonite. That's impossible! I thought teams aren't allowed to have guys hit from 1 to 9 in the order.
  5. QUOTE(JimH @ May 23, 2006 -> 01:19 AM) Wow, doesn't belong in the game thread but the Marlins are spanking the Cubs now 9-0. And I bet if there's a Cubtalk.com they are probably saying "at least the A's are winning" because as everyone knows those people could care less what the White Sox do. It amazed me listening to the radio today. I swear, I wish people that don't know the in's and out's of baseball just shut the f*** up and go watch their TiVo'd "Desperate Houswife" finale.
  6. QUOTE(aboz56 @ May 23, 2006 -> 01:18 AM) Who do we face tomorrow. I know Wed is Buehrle vs. Halsey. CREDEEEEEE We face Haren, who was just nasty in his last start vs the Giants.
  7. QUOTE(aboz56 @ May 23, 2006 -> 01:16 AM) I'd say so, he's hitting like .340 with 14 steals. And he wears his hat very cool on his yahoo photo
  8. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ May 23, 2006 -> 01:13 AM) Ozzie told farmer in the pregame that he would get an inning tonight. He hasn't pitched in too long. Wow.....thankfully we didn't use him to face Barrett then yesterday. :finger
  9. Let me be the first to say that if we use Jenks in mop-up duty tonight....I'm going to be pissed.
  10. For those watching....is PK sticking with the little leg kick he had yesterday? I'm a big fan of that timing mechanism.
  11. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 23, 2006 -> 01:07 AM) This is why leaving the bases loaded in the first was such a disaster. What lasted longer this season? - The Crede-for-MVP campaign? -The "Boone Logan might actually contribute" campaign - The cease-fire between jabroni and jphat
  12. I'm sure no one else will agree, but the best thing to come out of tonight is that the Marlins are b**** slapping the Pussies. Thus, we don't have to read 20 columns tomorrow about how Barrett inspired the team to a WINNING STREAK.
  13. QUOTE(JimH @ May 23, 2006 -> 01:05 AM) They'll try to get Garland through at least 2 more innings so they don't burn the pen in the first game of this series. Assuming he doesn't let up any more runs. There's no reason to not keep him in this game. 3 runs, against Zito, is pretty tough to overcome for our hitters. It's not like Montero would come in and hold them scoreless for 4 innings.
  14. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ May 23, 2006 -> 01:03 AM) I can now see why Garland was so quick to jump on the Sox contract offer even though he only had one more year until free agency. That money sure would have looked nice going towards a Buehrle extension, and trading Garland for some stud prospects/relievers.
  15. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ May 23, 2006 -> 01:01 AM) Good point, lol. Garland getting booed now. 3-0 A's. Thankfully, we signed him to a 3 year deal!! There's not a f***ing doubt in my mind that McCarthy would have a better season as a starter than Garland this year.
  16. I can't wait for the "jumping off the ledge" posts if we lose tonight, and the Tigers win.
  17. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ May 23, 2006 -> 12:59 AM) Us or Garland? Because if its Garland that he needs to get to the back on the line, its getting long..... When you start bashing Garland....you know he sucks.
  18. QUOTE(JimH @ May 23, 2006 -> 12:52 AM) Now Garland is starting to work inside. I can't figure out why he doesn't do that off the get go. Last year, he dominated by throwing inside to righties to get ahead in the count, and his K pitch was trying to dot the outside corner. A pitch that he never throws to lefties anymore is his tight slider. Early in the year last season, he was dominating lefties with that pitch.
  19. QUOTE(illinilaw08 @ May 23, 2006 -> 12:50 AM) Agree on Cintron. At this point you can afford to have one guy in the lineup who can't hit but plays great defense. With Crede slumping, we know have 3 of those guys in our lineup.
  20. Here's a pathetic stat: Brian Anderson has hits in 12 out of his 38 games he's been in this year (yes, I know some of that include defensive games).
  21. QUOTE(jphat007 @ May 23, 2006 -> 12:47 AM) Just not playing good baseball the past week. It was bound to happen once we didn't have 6 or 7 guys swinging the bats well in our lineup. Our overal starting pitching (unable to maintain leads) and relief has been disappointing all season.
  22. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ May 23, 2006 -> 12:46 AM) Uribe = absolutely worthless at the plate. May as well have him bunting anytime the situation calls for it. If we're not going to play Cintron when Uribe's in one of his typical slumps, I'm not sure why we got him. What happened on the bases?
  23. I don't want to see smallball here. We can't be playing for one run against Zito....especially with Anderson on deck. Widger is good vs Zito because he's an excellent high fastball hitter.
  24. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ May 23, 2006 -> 12:41 AM) You're giving a 90 loss team WAY too much credit. One player does not make a team. I'm just saying that it sure did help us dominate them last season when they had mr. easy out in the lineup. I remember quite a few key situations where he hit into a double play or was unable to get the runner in. I never understood last season why their record was so bad. And like Jas said, I loved the Rogers addition (especially in that park). I also think that you're seeing players adjust their styles in the 2nd season after roids testing. They have a few guys on that team who I think benefit from that.
  25. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 23, 2006 -> 12:38 AM) I don't get how people didn't see it. This is a team that was loaded with offensive talent and has been developing guys like Verlander, Bonderman and Maroth all while picking up a pretty darn good vet in Kenny Rogers. I still think there pen will implode and bite them late in the year, but the Tigers are a good team with a very good manager. I still want to know what their record would have been against us last season if Dmitri Young didn't go one for the season against the Sox. I hope we gave him a WS share.
