QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 01:24 AM) Mack should be pulled for Anderson right now. That's a joke, put in BA, I don't care if he can't hit. If Ozzie's going to pull a Sox player for every mental lapse, we're going to have 3 guys on the field by the end of the game.

Terrible fundamentals by the Sox.

QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 01:22 AM) BTW I was away for a few minutes, what did Ozzie say about Cliff Politte in that little soundbyte? I came in right at the end of it. He appreciated Cliff trying to pitch with pain, but all it does it lead to a worse injury, and it hurts the team.

QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 01:18 AM) Trouble here. He needs to throw a good offpeed pitch in this AB to get him out. Ordonez will flare a fastball if left over the plate. Got away with a hanger.

Big out in the game here.

Ugh...I hope that won't come back to haunt us.

After watching this game, I'm confident in saying we're a much better hitting team against a pitcher with a strong fastball than we are a finesse pitcher. We're taking great swings tonight...and will probably look foolish vs Rogers tomorrow.

Crede's been all over Verlander tonight...but no results. He's the anti Carlos Guillen.

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 01:08 AM) No, I did not. But he just hasn't looked himself. I notice a lot more 3-2 counts than before, and more walks. I remember before he would shut the guys down and would rarely get to full counts. DYE! He also was facing some crappy hitting teams. He faced KC, the Angels (who were slumping), and the Twins (slumping). He's a very good pitcher, but he hasn't had the same stuff he had during the 2nd half of last season.

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 01:05 AM) I wonder what is causing his problems lately. Ever since the DL stint, he hasn't looked like the old Jose. It's never easy to come roaring right back from a back injury. I hope you didn't expect a sub 2 ERA all season.

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 01:03 AM) Jose looks bad. Bad based off what he used to look like, I mean. By the end of June, if he's still not sharp, then I'll become concerned.

Iguchi's up with a runner on 3rd base, and the Tigers start him off with low changeups since they know he's trying to hit a fly ball. Thames is up in the same situation, and we give him a first pitch fastball up.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 01:00 AM) Jose still seems not there. He has no control of his forkball. Thus, he's having a harder time putting away hitters. Thames has no problem getting the job done.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 12:58 AM) I love how you've decided that the kid has no present or future ability to ever produce based on his first 200 at bats. No....I think he has a great frame to turn into a productive hitter. However, the expectations for him this year were greatly enhanced after that game. Right now though....he's as bad of a major league hitter I've seen in a while.

Kevin Walker should be on that list.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 12:54 AM) Seems like he can only hit a fastball. Case in point: King Felix. In a way, I wish that game never happened. Of course, it was great for the team to win that game, and for Anderson to contribute. However, it seems nothing more than a fluke.

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 12:53 AM) Score should be easily, easily 3-1 right now. But this team sucks at doing the little things. You conveniently forget that the Tigers had 1st and 3rd, no outs...and didn't score.

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 12:52 AM) Pods should have scored that inning. No excuses. He probably wouldn't have scored, but Pods wasn't exactly busting his ass out of the batters box on his triple.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 12:49 AM) He is significantly better vs RHP over his career. You know I blame Ozzie for everything....but I don't blame him for not playing Anderson.
